Hygiene and Style

I highly doubt that even if this was added it would be that short. Even if it was I have a hard time believing that anybody is too busy to rp something so simple.

I'm strictly going off the suggestion itself, what people apparently support.

Also it isn't "Rping something so simple" when you literally need to run around gathering three different items (or one!) to go and iron your shirt so you don't suddenly become homeless and cops watch you or a store owner reports you because your clothes are arbitrarily rags or bloody now. A beard doesn't mark you as SKETCHY and you can RP carrying snacks.

But apparently rebels now need to carry around detergent IC to go clean their clothes so they can walk into the city and not be suspect? See the issue? It makes characters out to be idiots unless they follow a pointless script system.

Think of how a character would be negatively impacted if they lived in the slums. If you go down into the sewers then you better do something to clean up before waltzing into a loyalist district.

The suggestion also states the usage of showers and the sorts, not just script items.

Do you really want to make slum life even harder than it is? You're actively punishing rebels more because they likely won't have easy access to literally anything just to keep their clothes clean so every time they try to walk into the city cops'll be on them like hawks.

This is genuinely one step from a bodily functions meter, unironically, or having to brush your teeth.

do you do those things ic

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of micromanagement, but a "Cleanliness meter" could be nice. Especially to prevent descriptions reading "Smells like soap and lavender" that I've seen in HL2RP in the past from rebels who never even have enough money even for a decent meal. Further, if Illness was ever looked into as a feature (no, not talking about our current gas cancer) it'd be quite the factor to affect transmission chances.

Basically it keeps people accountable for being dirty from visiting the literal sewers too much. Additionally, being in the slums has drawbacks. Food, water and access to a good bath is a few of those factors, yes there's a price for relative freedom. A script basically just keeps that accountability there after which people can then RP it how they want; your character doesn't care that the dude they're sharing meals with smells like a dumpster? That's on you. Want to make a gang of smelly monsters who pick on the clean? I mean that's pretty mental but hey, that's there.

(Also adds in a new money sink. Keep that cash'a'flowin)

On the other hand no so much into the fashion thing. It's very subjective. - on that.

It is assumed my character is sensible enough to do basic things like piss, shit and brush their teeth off-screen. I don't need a script function for them.

At least with food and water you can argue that they create the need to get rations or let you make restaurants and bars roleplay hubs easier by giving them a script incentive. Having to literally clean your clothes every few OOC hours is a frustrating, convoluted time-sink for everyone that can (and will) get you investigated or turned away from roleplay by design.

I play HL2RP to be a cool freedom fighter or a browbeating thug, not to manage my character's cleanliness lol.

Ah yes - as if brushing my teeth and combing my ass hairs wasn't a chore enough IRL! Let's add it into the game so I can have a purple text above my head saying I smell like cum and shit whenever I come out of the slums! Like it isn't hard enough for rebels to blend in with the constant meta and other factors that fuck over anyone exploring rebel roleplay!

Essentially another idea that would strictly benefit loyalists and disadvantage the already third world country homeless sack of shit rebels on the server! If you want your character to smell like peaches and heaven, how about you start with yourself you basement dwelling goblins? :smug:

Wouldn't this disadvantage regular poor slum dwellers and *help* the rebels? Since all you gotta do is buy some soap and hair gel and it'll look like you just came out of a council meeting instead of the sewers

I am sorry. I should’ve know your character pisses and shits.

I withdraw my argument.

Yeah but nobody needs to be at an artificial disadvantage right now because the system just doesn't exist.

I can assume my character is a capable human being who can change their clothes or tidy themselves up, especially when the average citizen's jumpsuit is probably showing wear-and-tear and they likely smell.

Besides if we go by the way this suggestion is set up? The average cop would be wearing rags and stink worse than shit after an average session of play on the server.

I don't see why not. I'd love to have this implemented in some way or another.

Now when your dad walks into your putrid room and yells in the background of your recorded staff-abuse Discord call that you stink, you can tell him in a lispy tone that you bathe in the virtual world instead./

I imagine seeing a lot of people that got "reeks of shite" above their chars' descriptions

I have some doubts, and also some suggestions to add, as in the document explained before, the original idea, seems great, but I think it could be improved.
The idea, as itself, is great, I always found these matters interesting enough to be suitable to be made, but as always, everything can always be improved.

Where I find issues?
As it was said before, the scripted items shouldn't be really the very only way to improve the hygiene stat, there could be more ways, such as adding new area types (Bathrooms and so on) that can interpretate short amounts of time on them as cleaning, adding more usage to the apartments and maybe adding the opportunity to more chatting in its surroundings.
The very much idea seems to depend on the very clothes owner, but it can also give a big amount of RP to tailoring shops and so on, perhaps focusing on this point further can also be a good idea.

Would add more, but I can't atm, will try to check later, but I like the idea!!!

This would also mean that no longer could people effortlessly add "smells perfect and is a completely flawless emerald" in their description and never bother to change it no matter the circumstance.

As much as it is a interesting concept we do not have the time to properly consider this suggestion at the moment, there are other development priorities that needs to come first. For that reason I'll have to deny it

DENIED

Shifted to Accepted, however, it may be a while until we get around to implementing this.
