Businesses.
Jobs.
Rations.
What do all of these have in common? They are a distraction; a mere illusion of the old world we all hold dear to our hearts. They are there to keep our minds and bodies occupied; to fog your memories, thoughts, and feelings. In reality, the cruelty of the Combine is not in their ability to punish with the sword, but in their ability to mold the people into automatons.
Unthinking. Unfeeling. Unwavering. Everyone who joins and becomes "loyal" to the regime is nothing but a robot that answers to 1's and 0's. Violation codes, radio codes, "civil cohesion", "civil society", and more. All of it is there to program you; make you a unrecognizable unit of labor, of military, or of discovery. For the Combine are unimaginative and untransformational; not only will they not change, they cannot. The strength of the Combine is in their ability to conform all the major races of their vast alien empire and meld them into worker bee's that do their bidding no matter the cost. There is no salvation; no "enlightenment" in that state of being for even the governments of old attempted to do this with humanity but failed. The imagination and ingenuity of mankind that carried us not only to become apex predators but also reach for the stars is the same traits that cause chaos and disorder within our societies.
But it is within that chaos that humanity found its salvation. The invention of fire, tool making, wood working, stone building, pottery, and so much more; none if it was possible without human freedom and risk taking.
The Combine and its ilk seek to remove /everything/ that we, as humans, have established as an entire race. All in the name of their so called "progress". But on February 25th, 2018, we showed the people that a humanity that thinks for itself can achieve the greatest undertakings known to man. We united as a people; beyond our barbaric and murderous selves, beyond our differences as groups and individuals, and combined to show the Combine that it will be humanities ultimate triumph, not Combine kind.
The Combine will spread their lies for they fear the true meaning behind our victory. The damages we wrought were minor at best, and easily fixable; but what it showed was that the Resistance was alive and could unite under one banner and one objective. It showed the Combine that the fight within every single human was still there; for even those on the sidelines and not part of the attack stood up in support. It is the greatest insult to the Combine's way of thinking that the people can go against their rigid thinking structure, think outside the box, and unite not out of forced violence or assimilation but through unity and collaborative thinking.
Remember this moment; for humanity will be the final victor.
