Backstory:

Early life:

Born in Russia in 1975 to wealthy parents, Ilya was provided with the best education money could buy at the cost of a normal childhood. His wealth alienated him from the rest of the world, so he turned to books and movies for comfort. He took a particular interest in science fiction, this helped spark an interest in the scientific, which would greatly impact his life, for better or worse.

KROT and The Long Haul:

He eventually graduated from the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia with a Ph.D. in chemistry and was later hired to work at the KROT facility alongside other chemists, biologists, and other scientists, though he wasn’t aware of what he would be working on until he got there. When the resonance cascade happened, the world had permanently changed. The facility had maintained its research position, Ilya continued to work there out of necessity. While he grew to hate his job as the projects he worked on became more extreme, he felt this was a necessary evil. Later on, the facility locked down, trapping Ilya inside, forcing him to reflect on his actions, which turned out to be too much for him to bear. He snapped after watching all of his friends and co-workers get slaughtered by the things he helped make, and the only thing keeping him from losing himself completely was the presence of the only other survivor, Kliment, who talked to Ilya through the facility's speakers. A while later, a group of survivors managed to enter the facility with the help of Kliment, and after a long struggle, the group and Ilya escaped the facility and parted ways.

District 47:

Ilya wandered for a few months before being found and relocated by the Universal Union, nothing much eventful happened for a while until Ilya was sent to city 17's District 47 to help with reconstruction efforts. While he was in District 47 he joined the CMU as a nurse, hoping to find a way to prevent the growth of the xenian fungus that was spreading from the slums, but due to his lack of knowledge about xenian biology, he was unable to assist in the research. Though eventually the fungus was cleared, Ilya felt he could have done more, and after District 47 was fully reconstructed he relocated to City 8 to work in Willard Industries, hoping to put his knowledge of chemistry to use by helping devise new formulas for drinks or foods.

Willard Industries:

After sending in an application and waiting a month, he was accepted into the group as an intern where he was taught the basics of working in the group. After his internship, he was promoted and assigned to the chemistry department where he assisted in small-scale projects alongside the other researchers. While working in the company Ilya made attempts at using his chemistry knowledge to make food and drinks, these attempts failed miserably, often leading to food and drinks that were either too disgusting or dangerous to consume. Ilya soon gave up on making consumable products like food and drinks, instead choosing to use his knowledge to make products like fireproof and waterproof notebooks by coating the papers of the notebook with a mixture of water, borax, and boric acid to fireproof the papers. While he enjoyed his time in Willard Industries, he left the company after three years to pursue a medical career in City 24, hoping to redeem himself for his actions in the past by providing aid to people that needed it.

Outskirts:

Ilya was left stranded in the outskirts of city 24 after foolishly separating himself from his group during a workshift, he was once again left on his own in a hostile and unforgiving place, Ilya was left with nothing but the clothes on his back and a crowbar. After around ten days of wandering the unforgiving and infested outskirts of city 24, Ilya came across a forcefield and was rescued soon after by civil protection forces.

Initiative - act one:

After being informed about a UU outpost that was overrun by resistance forces, Ilya volunteered alongside a few others to help in the reconstruction effort. At first, the job seemed to be coming along smoothly, it had looked like all the resistance forces left, and the only things left were a few xenians. The Civil Protection escorting Ilya and the others were ambushed by rebel snipers, and Ilya and the rest fell back into the center of the union outpost where they were shortly surrounded by rebel forces. The rebels used an APC to break into the building the remaining union workers were in, and only due to the sacrifice of multiple OTA and CPs was Ilya and a few of the other workers able to escape in an APC. The rebels took the outpost, taking the remaining union workers captive.

Rising Sun:

Ilya bought a ticket to temporarily relocate to city 8 for a week so he could revisit his old workplace, Willard Industries, little did he know this week would be one of the most important weeks of his life.

Day 1:
During the first day, he was driven into the city on a bus and settled into his temporary housing, afterwards he managed to get into contact with the Willard Industries manager, Shinji Okamoto, and got a temporary position in the company for the duration of his visit. During his first day, he witnessed a man, Yasir Syed, getting assaulted by a Japanese local, and used his knowledge of Japanese to get the citizen in trouble, this would later come to bite him in the ass, as the citizen he reported, Yumi, was working with the local Yakuza.

Day 2:
During his first day at his new job, the power lines to the facility were damaged, leading to the facility running out of power. The facility was then visited by its founder, Richard Willard, along with some conscripts and a strange man in a lab coat and gas mask. A work shift was sent to repair the damaged power line and the facility was returned to normal, the damaged machinery was replaced. After the situation at Willard Industries was dealt with, Ilya wandered down the streets before being approached by a biotic, the biotic stated that there was someone injured on the top floor of the apartment complex, Ilya hesitated to follow as the situation seems suspicious, he only entered when he saw cops enter the building as well, and upon looking inside the apartment he saw Yumi, armed with a metal baseball bat, he reported this and Yumi fled, disposing of the bat before being searched and released. Ilya decided to investigate further into the attempted mugging, asking Matsumoto Ryoichi if he knew Yumi, the two ended up arguing with each other before parting ways.

Day 3:
The morning of the third day, Ilya was approached by a local civil protection officer, JAJJI-6, who informed Ilya that Matsumoto told the civil protection to re-educate Ilya for their argument yesterday, JAJJI-6 revealed all of this, stating that they needed to re-educate Ilya, but were attempting to stop the local Yakuza as well and needed evidence. After the beating Ilya and the cops parted ways, Ilya went back into the Willard Facility to rest, but he ended up stumbling across two CPRD scientists, Dr. Drakk and Dr. Hex, after revealing they knew about his past, they recruited Ilya into the CPRD to work on containing the 'Deviator Gas', a sentient gas that is capable of controlling its victim's minds. The scientists had a test subject dragged from the street and taken to the lab where the gas was demonstrated, showing Ilya that the Deviator gas must be contained at all costs.

Day 4:
The morning of the fourth day Ilya spoke to Dr. Drakk about what might happen if a vortigaunt was exposed to the gas, stating that it would be incredibly dangerous, as both races have a collective consciousness, meaning if a vortigaunt was exposed to the gas every other vortigaunt would learn about the gas as well, and the gas might even gain some control over the vortessence. Dr. Drakk left to go attend to business elsewhere, and Dr. Hex brought in a vortigaunt test subject named Rungh'Gall after Drakk left, much to Ilya's horror. Ilya stated the dangers of testing on a vortigaunt, and said that Drakk should be brought in to oversee the test, Hex revealed that he was doing this without Drakk's permission, and Ilya was forced to go along with the test. After the test Hex attempted to do an MMR on the vort and failed, instead choosing to keep the vort locked in a pod for the time being. Later that day Ilya was questioned by a different vortigaunt, who saw their friend taken into the facility by Hex and never saw them leave, also stating that they felt a plead for help from the vortessence, Ilya played dumb and left, returning to the lab.

Day 5:
Ilya, Drakk, and Hex collected two citizens for a third test, one of them had smuggled in contraband they used to break some of the lab equipment before Hex executed him, the man's corpse was placed outside of the facility and civil protection were told it was a suicide despite the fact the man had been shot in the head five times. Around the middle of the day terrorists attacked, bombing the main gate of the Willard facility, destroying the first floor, and knocking out the power to the labs for a moment, the power outage released Rungh'Gall from confinement, Ilya, Drakk, and Hex found the vortigaunt and Drakk managed to calm the situation down, revealing the Rungh'Gall the CPRD's goal of containing the deviator gas so it can't harm anyone again, Rungh'Gall was added to the team, now becoming the first vortigaunt CPRD scientist. A number of CMU and CWU workers who were attempting to rescue the Willard facility staff entered the lab, all of them were caught and MMRed by the local overwatch forces.

Day 6:
One final experiment was needed to finish the project to ensure that the deviator gas at TARTARUS would be able to be contained, this test involved three human subjects, Drakk invited all members of CCA to watch the test, revealing to them all what exactly the Deviator gas is. Most of the CCA was disgusted by the experiment, leaving the lab, unable to watch the horrors within the chamber. A few Ministers remained, watching in horror as the three test subjects were tortured by the gas, when suddenly the gas manifested a synth soldier outside the chamber, the synth was destroyed when the Gas was ventilated back into its container, and after this, the final test was completed and the project was finalized, the data was sent and the monster would remain contained, for the time being. Ilya wiped the memories of the three subjects before releasing them outside of the facility. Ilya and Drakk were about to celebrate and Rungh'Gall was told he would be allowed to accompany Ilya to city 24 to continue research work, things were looking good

Day 6, beginning of the end:
Ilya was approached by a civil protection unit. The officer said he needed to speak with Ilya in private, Ilya assumed that the officer wanted to ask questions about the Yakuza, so Ilya agreed to whisper to the cop in the street, the cop then handed Ilya a plastic box, telling Ilya to put the box in his coat, the cop revealed that it was a bomb. The officer, Ya-9, turned out to be an infiltrator, he demanded that Ilya brings him and his allies into the lab, otherwise the bomb would explode. Ilya played along at first before taking the bomb and throwing it at YA-9 in a desperate attempt to escape, as it turns out, the bomb wasn't real, it was a brick in a box. Ilya was shot a number of times in the gut before the CMU dragged him away and saved his life, the infiltrator was caught and killed by the other civil protection after they shot Minister Mickivic.

Day 6, the cataclysm:
During all of the chaos, a vortigaunt snuck into the lab, breaking the glass on a laser to steal the Tyradium crystal inside, after the vort escaped the laser-activated, and if it wasn't stopped the gas would be released, dooming the city and its inhabitants. Drakk gathered Ilya and a number of workers, going on a suicide mission to overload the laser and destroy the facility, along with the gas inside. Once inside, Drakk remained behind to overload the laser while the rest of the workers escaped, Ilya said his goodbyes to Drakk over the radio before the Willard facility exploded. It had looked as though the city had been saved. That was until the gas was spotted emanating from the ruins of the facility, not all of the gas had been destroyed in the explosion. A large group of citizens escaped into the nexus, fighting off the monsters produced by the gas in the process. By the end, the survivors were holed up in the top of the nexus, under the eye of the OTA, the survivors rested on the cold metal floors of the nexus, waiting for the final day of their week-long trip...

Day 7:
A group of highly trained conscripts arrived at the nexus, Zlatoust, a group specifically trained to deal with the deviator gas. The CCA and Willard employees were the first to be escorted out of the nexus and driven to the outlands by the Zlatoust. The survivors were all relocated to the outlands gate when the gas managed to infect the survivors, briefly, creating a super synth based on the survivor's memories of the seven-hour war, the monster disappeared after nearly killing a number of Zlatoust members. All of the survivors were eventually relocated to the outlands, when the gas took all of the beings it had infected, intending to send them all towards the survivors to wipe them out, Humanity made its stand against The Dominator, an unshackled Rungh'Gall Fought alongside the Transhuman arm, eventually triumphing over the monster. Drakk, who had died and been reanimated by the gas said one final message over the radio before going silent, now being at peace now that the gas had been defeated. All of the remaining survivors were driven out of the location and taken back to their cities, returning to their lives.

Rising sun Epilogue:
Through unity, humanity defeated The Dominator. Vortigaunts, and OTA working alongside each other, fighting a common enemy for the first time in history. City 8 would be able to be rebuilt, it wouldn't be easy, but the survivors would be capable of rebuilding if they continued to work together. The CPRDs research would ensure that the gas contained at TARTATUS would never escape, controlling the entity whose very nature was to control others, a fitting end for such a cruel being. Hex had escaped, his actions would be punished a different day, he would likely have been broken even more by the death of his brother, Drakk.

Ministry of Progress:
Shortly after returning to city 24, Ilya quit his job at the CMU, officially stating that he wished to explore a different career when truthfully he couldn't bring himself to work alongside the people he had wronged in city 8. Ilya was appointed as city 24's 'Minister of Progress', governing the CMU and BRI, even though these groups were doing well enough on their own. Ilya was left alone in the Nexus with nobody to talk to asides from the other CCA and the transhuman guards, Ilya preferred the latter.

Food Crisis:
A few weeks after being appointed as the Minister of Progress, a food crisis was announced by Sector Administrator Takoshi Yikatenda, city 24 as well as many other cities no longer had the resources needed to feed their populations. Everyone scrambled to think of ways to deal with the food crisis, some ideas such as leech fishing managed to prevent everyone in the city from starving to death, however, a permanent solution would need to be found. The weather control tower outside city 24 began causing freezing weather, making growing crops locally incredibly difficult, people were freezing and starving to death in the city, the administration was forced to do everything it could to prevent a collapse.

Industrial 17:
City 24 was worsening by the day, everything was getting colder and food was becoming even rarer, it was during this time of strife that a chance for a temporary escape was announced. City 17 would be accepting citizens from city 24 for a month-long "vacation". The poor souls that signed up for this vacation would find themselves somewhere much worse than city 24, City 17's Industrial district, A place filled to the brim with pollution, corruption, and misery as far as the eye can see. The industrial district was granted the freedom to do as it wishes so long as it continues to produce, the district administrator, Reyes Vuente, took full advantage of this privilege.

Ilya received an unexpected visit from Hex, who appeared much more sane than when Ilya last saw him. Ilya was informed that the CPRD was operating on an important project in the industrial district; Project FLYTRAP, a project with the goal of utilizing the xenian spores collected from the Seattle malignancy zone as a way to enforce a mandatory "curfew" by gassing the entire district. Ilya was forcibly relocated to the industrial district for one month of hell. Hex showed Ilya to the lab he would be working at for the next month, this lab appeared to be a large apartment fitted with all sorts of combine tech. This lab had a plethora of security flaws, one window was covered with wood while the other window wasn't even covered at all, likely a result of the corrupt administration not caring enough to provide security.

While initially incredibly suspicious of Hex, Ilya eventually realized that Hex had been harboring the Deviator gas the entire time he was in city 8, meaning his actions may not have been his own. This was proven correct when Nikola, one of the many test subjects exposed to the Deviator gas was adamant that the gas was still in him. Hex was skeptical, bringing Nikola to the depths of the nexus for a simple scan, this scan caused the Deviator gas within Nikola's body to try to escape, the Nexus was put on lockdown and a disaster was averted when the OTA managed to destroy the gas.

The Vuente administration asked that the CPRD begin producing drugs strong enough to rival some of the powerful drugs that they were competing with, Ilya and Hex both detested the corrupt administration's abuse but complied, all the while Hex was scheming behind the scenes as per usual. Hex wished to strike a deal with the local resistance forces to stage a coup so the corrupt administration could be stopped and dispatch could be put back in control, however this plan fell apart when a snitch revealed everything to the Vuente family.

After the Vuente family found out about Hex's plot, they cornered the CPRD at the lab. The loyal cops from city 24 stood by the CPRD while the OTA stood with the corrupt administration. Hex attempted to negotiate with the corrupt administration, eventually managing to get the OTA to turn against the corrupt administration, sadly the same OTA also turned against Hex as well. Hex was killed by the OTA in a miscommunication, as it turned out Hex was assigned by the advisory to deal with the corruption in the district- and the OTA killed him for it.

After Hex's death Ilya was put in charge of the local CPRD by the directorate, Ilya tried and failed to fill Hex's shoes, not able to be the person Hex was. It was during this time of doubt that Drakk appeared to Ilya through the Deviator gas that remained in Ilya's body. Drakk's consciousness remained inside the Deviator gas, and was able to finally reach through to Ilya after Hex's death. Drakk spoke to Ilya, giving him the confidence he needed to continue with his work. Ilya found comfort in knowing that he wouldn't ever be alone again, even if that meant keeping the Deviator gas within his body.

Ilya continued his work with the CPRD, working on two other projects apart from FLYTRAP, the Hydra project, and the FlyBoy Project. The first of the two projects, the Hydra project, had the goal of discovering the weakness of one of the xenian horrors plaguing the planet, the 'Hydra', a collection of bioluminescent tentacles capable of shutting down a humans brain with a touch. The research team was able to discover that the Hydras could be controlled utilizing temperature, so the team researched weapons that could utilize temperature against Hydras.

The second project, the FlyBoy project, involved studying FlyBoy, a sentient fragment of dispatch Hex recovered from city 21. Ilya began work on a humanoid body after FlyBoy requested it, eventually managing to finish the body by the end of the month. Ilya viewed FlyBoy as a living being, drawing parallels with FlyBoy and TR-33. In a moment of kindness or profound stupidity, Ilya handed a backup of FlyBoy's mind to a member of the resistance, Pathfinder, so that FlyBoy could be raised by a caring parent.

An unknown infiltrator with access to the CPRD lab sabotaged a shipment of cameras that were on the table in the lab, because of this the CPRD was forced to finish up project FLYTRAP and relocate to a more secure location. The CPRD was able to successfully transfer all of the valuable information and equipment out of the city, Ilya and the rest of the CPRD team left the city alongside the information and equipment. Finally escaping the industrial hell, but leaving the city to fend for itself, it is unknown if the new administration will fall into the same corruption the previous administration did, but it is a firm possibility.

A Sector gone dark:
Upon returning to city 24, Ilya attempted to continue his research with the CPRD while also maintaining his position as minister, his efforts had little success. The CADRE-22 researchers ended up moving the lab to a more secure location while Ilya remained in the nexus in order to continue his work in the Ministry of Progress.

Luckily, Ilya was informed of an upcoming event that would give him a break from his mundane office work, the event in question was a celebration of the city 24 administrations one year anniversary. Although afraid of public appearances, Ilya attended the ceremony and spoke with the guests in the nexus for a while, even managing to reunite with his old CMU director, Maura Azure.

However, while the celebration was continuing, a fight raged in the background. A french rebel group had managed to knock out Sector 10's OCIN tower, successfully knocking out dispatch for all of sector 10. Shortly after the towers collapse, a Combine hunter chopper with an unknown pilot would fly over the city 24 nexus, shooting through the doorway as well as dropping a number of mines. The helicopter fled the area but the damage was already done, someone had managed to attack Summit 24.

An emergency meeting was called, and all administrative members were taken to the administrator's office for a meeting with a "benefactor". The administration stood still, frozen in fear while the otherworldly being bombarded their minds with nearly incomprehensible voices. The being had made its demands known to the administration, though it isn't known if its words were truly heeded.

City 24 blamed city 13 for the attack, seeing as they were the only city in the entire sector to be prepared for the collapse of the OCIN tower. Tensions between the cities only grew after the entire city suffered a week-long blackout caused by a powerful EMP. The administration was evacuated from the powerless nexus to the CWU warehouse, the ministers slept on couches and in old offices while the workers slaved away to repair the burnt generators. The local CP forces had managed to capture a the man supposedly responsible for the EMP, a Frenchman from city 13, a public execution was held in the plaza where the man was frozen to death in a cage.

Ilya voiced his concerns to Heartwick, attempting to stay true to what the benefactor had requested of them, however, his concerns fell on deaf ears. The administration was already hell-bent on a war with city 13. As things grew even worse between the two cities, Ilya requested a temporary transfer to District 9, a district in city 24 neighboring the DX-509 malignancy zone. Ilya stated he wished to help eliminate the malignancy when in reality he was attempting to distance himself from the city 24 administration.

District 9:
Ilya arrived at his new workplace in District 9, a yellow tent with some lab equipment located behind a warehouse, a huge departure from the massive metal walls of the nexus. Ilya worked with Abdul Khakla on researching the local quarantine zone, the two took multiple trips out into the infestation zone, and they were accompanied by Ron Goodfella, who elected to assist in the infestation control efforts. The quarantine zone fought back, antlions and zombies swarmed the infestation control team and were only fought back with the assistance of an APC.

Eventually, the infestation in the quarantine zone was removed and citizens were able to move back into the previously infested territory. Seeing as the CPRD has accomplished its goal of eliminating the infestation, they packed up the lab and left. Ilya remained in the district for a time but eventually chose to leave after someone had attempted to shoot him from the other side of a fence. It was only after he left District 9 that he found out about its collapse and the assassination of the vice administrator, all of the CPRD's efforts in the district had gone to waste.

Departure from City 24:
Back during the antlion attacks in April of 2018, Ilya silently stepped down from his position in the administration before leaving the city without a word. Ilya had made the choice to continue his work within the CPRD, for better or worse. Upon leaving the city, Ilya was flown out to the US to continue work on Project VENUS, the project Hex had been working on before his death.

His new position in a CPRD research black site suited him much better than his position in the administration had, though the work he was doing was slowly chipping away at what humanity he still had left. The longer he worked in the CPRD, the more difficult it became to justify the acts he was committing, there were many things that never sat right with him. Particularly the fact that the CPRD still wishes to continue research on Project Deviator.

He never understood why the CPRD never just destroyed it.

New Frontiers, Week One:
While working on the continuation of Project Venus in the US wasteland, Ilya discovered that Hex had been brought back from the dead through the use of deviator gas. While initially, he was happy to see that his friend was back from the dead, he soon realized that all that remained of Hex was a re-animated corpse in a hazmat suit, the realization that the Combine were starting to utilize Deviator Gas to further their goals horrified Ilya.

He worked alongside Hex on Project Venus, sending teams of conscripts into the US wasteland to search for old technologies that could assist in the completion of Project Venus. One of these teams would go on to encounter a resistance group known as the Patriots, the same resistance group that fought alongside The Long Haulers in the year following the war. In an attempt to repay the debt he owed the Patriots for saving him from KROT, Ilya began doing everything in his power to ensure the conscripts and patriots didn't wipe each other out, however, this was easier said than done.

New Frontiers, Week Two:
While working to save the people in the wasteland, the Conscripts discovered an old missile silo in the wasteland, this discovery would end up drawing the attention of the advisory. The Combine would soon send in conscript forces to occupy the missile silo, dropships began taking the missile elsewhere bit by bit. While the missile was being disassembled, a horde of vortigaunts and Patriots launched a successful assault on the facility, forcing the Conscripts into the facility.

The Combine were unable to rescue the conscripts trapped in the facility, and because they had managed to move the missile elsewhere, the Combine was unwilling to spend any more resources on saving the conscripts, they were disposable after all. Hoping to save the conscripts from certain death, he revealed to everyone in the missile base that the Combine had abandoned the conscripts to die, Ilya hoped that this would prevent the Patriots from killing the Conscripts, and it did.

Because he revealed this information, he had gone rogue, and as a last-ditch effort to ensure the wastelanders and conscripts survived, he revealed the Combine's plan to wipe out everyone in the wasteland after the malignancy is destroyed. Ilya managed to tell the wastelanders the location of a critical Combine facility in the wasteland in hopes that the wastelanders could destroy it to prevent a total combine takeover. He was knocked out and captured by OTA not long after he made these broadcasts.

Ilya would remain imprisoned within the ascension facility he once worked at, he would be kept alive until the advisors decided what to do with him. His betrayal put the fate of Project Venus and the whole of the US in jeopardy.

New Frontiers, Finale:
In the week following his betrayal of the Combine, most of the conscripts would return to work with the Combine after they were spared following the attack on the missile silo. The Patriots would shockingly assist the Combine conscripts in stopping the vortigaunts from obtaining antlion extract. Hearing that the Patriots had started working with the combine devastated Ilya considering he had sacrificed everything in order to save the Patriots from the Combine. The Patriots and Conscripts slaughtered the vortigaunts and anyone working with them, luckily, one of the few surviving vortigaunts managed to destroy the "Aeonic spire" in Denver before they were killed, halting the Combine's production of synths in the wasteland.

In the days following the spire's destruction, the Patriots surprisingly decided to attack the Ascension facility instead of simply fleeing, they would work with the few vortigaunts they didn't kill in order to assault the Ascension facility. The Patriots and Vorigaunts faught through a number of synths and conscripts in order to break through the gates of the facility, many would die during the first phase of the assault, but eventually the Patriots broke into the facility after the Despot sent in a small army of Xenians to assist in the assault.

Once in the facility, the Patriots slowly progressed through the facility, their numbers would be whittled down as the conscripts picked them off one by one, eventually only a few remained by the time they got to the elevator to the control chamber. The Conscripts and OTA held positions at the top of the elevator, and when the Patriots and Vortigaunts took the elevator up, they were gunned down by the Combine forces. A few Patriots and Vortigaunts were taken prisoner and brought to Hex. The Project VENUS missile was launched, the heart of the malignancy was hit, and it seemed as though all was lost for the Patriots.

The Patriots and Vortigaunts had fought their way into an ascension facility against impossible odds, and they fell right at the end. However, their sacrifices had created an opening, one that the Master of the West used to sneak into the facility after them. The Master of the West had decided to sacrifice himself to destroy the facility now that his home, the Malignancy, was destroyed. The Master would use all of their power to self-destruct within the facility, completely destroying it.

New Frontiers, Epilogue:
The Captured rebels, the Combine and Hex and Ilya managed to escape before the facility was destroyed by taking a razor train out, however, the explosion derailed the razor train, leaving all of them stranded in the wasteland. The Master's self-destruction had created a Portal storm that would eventually kill everyone in the surrounding area, everyone would have to get as far from the storm as possible. In order to get away from the storm faster, Hex chose to release the captured rebels and vortigaunts, transporting that many prisoners while trying to outrun the storm would have been a death sentence.

Ilya, Hex, and the conscripts scoured the local area for any way they could escape the storm, while doing so they were attacked by other Combine forces that had been disconnected from OCIN after the facility's destruction. Ilya, Hex, and the Conscripts would fight their way through a Combine outpost in order to board a functional razor train in order to escape the storm, the group fought Hunter choppers, OTA, and even a synthetic vortigaunt in order to escape, eventually managing to find and board a razor train in the outpost.

Ilya would escape alongside Hex and the Conscripts, but their fates would be unclear. Ilya had betrayed the Combine, and Hex and the Conscripts had fought through Combine forces in order to get to the razor train. For the time being, Ilya and the others survived, but if the Combine had marked them as rogue, it would only be a matter of time before they met their ends.

"Did I do the right thing? I betrayed one of the few friends I still have along with an interdimensional empire just so I could save a few people I barely know. My actions put everything at risk, if they had stopped the missile, everyone in the US and possibly the entire planet would have been consumed by the malignancy, and had they failed in destroying the facility my actions would have been for nothing. Somehow neither of those things ended up happening, and I feel as though I achieved the best possible outcome for all of us.

The missile was launched and the facility was destroyed exactly as I had hoped, the US is free from the malignancy and the Combine have been weakened. The destruction of the facility has only delayed progress on the Ascension project, even with all of these sacrifices, we have only bought humanity a bit more time before the project is completed.

I should be happy I managed to get to this outcome, but I can't help but feel that I've ruined everything. I betrayed Hex for a group of rebels I just met, I gave up my position of power in the Combine and am now on the run, and on top of all of that, my family has most likely been killed after I went rogue. I thought I was smart, I thought I was super clever by helping the rebels assault the facility, I'm a fool. I put everything at risk, so many things could have gone wrong, they could have failed during the assault, they could have succeeded and stopped the missile, they could have killed Hex or myself. I'm not smart I'm just lucky.

I've been trying to live up to the standard Drakk set, he was a damn genius and a hero. He knew Rungh'Gall would work with us, and he was willing to sacrifice himself to stop the deviator gas outbreak. I want to be the kind of man he was, I've been trying so hard, but I keep failing and other people suffer as a result. I wonder what he thinks of what I've done, I wonder what other people would think of me now.

I can't go back to the Combine, they'd kill me, but KROT could be an option. I wonder if they would accept me after all of this, perhaps my betrayal of the Combine would prove my trustworthiness, or if it would only show that I'm a moron that could put them at risk. I'm not sure if I should hold any position of power anymore, I can't help but feel like someone or something else is pulling my strings, I truly hope it isn't what I think it is.

I should have done more, nothing I did was enough. There are so many things I could have done differently, things I could have done that could have kept everyone alive. Nothing I do will make up for the suffering I have brought upon the world and those I care about, but I still need to try."

Currently:

Ilya is somewhere in the American wasteland on the run from the Combine after betraying them and causing the destruction of a key Ascension facility.

Relationship comments:

Mom and Dad - I don't know if they are still alive, I'm guessing the Combine have already executed them after I went rogue. I won't be able to live this down, I can only hope it was quick and painless. I'm a horrible son.

TR-33 - I had thought you died saving me and the others, only recently did I find out that you survived. Even though you didn't die, you still put yourself at great risk to save us, that kind of sacrifice is something I didn't think an AI was capable of until that point. It's only been fifteen years and you have produced tech that rivals the tech the combine uses, something like that would have taken Humans hundreds of years. I want to see you again.

Kliment - I don't know where you set up the new facility, but I can only hope everything is going well for you, and the experiments there actually help people. I want to see you again, but I am terrified that we may be on opposite sides now, I want to work with you again, no matter what, if you are still out there perhaps there is a better way.

Dr. Angela Aleinikova - I will miss working under her, but knowing that she is doing good in life is enough for me.

Dr. Emiyo Marcum - She has never been afraid to tell people what's on her mind, it takes guts to step up and try to fix a problem others are too afraid to try to fix.

Zaa'Kull - I had an incredibly long chat with this vortigaunt, the stories he told me were amazing, I hope to one day beat him in chess

Maura Azure - You were so happy when the trial ended and it looked as though you would be fine, seeing that happiness ripped away was one of the most horrific things I have ever seen.

Vanessa Lee - A funny and outgoing person, she helped me come out of my shell, I was looking into creating flavored cigarettes because of her until she just disappeared. I hope she was just transferred to a different city, I'm sure wherever she is she is causing some trouble and making new friends. I hope she is happy wherever she is.

Bernard Mulligan -
You might not have liked me, but I liked you. You were the only thing that kept the CCA together, after you were gone everything fell apart. The city would have been a better place had you been made the administrator. I was recently informed that you aren't actually dead, despite the fact I'm working against you and the Combine, I'm glad you aren't dead.

Serena Wilson - Killed before you could get your group off the ground, I don't exactly know how to feel, on one hand, if you hadn't died I would have likely been killed just like you were, but on the other, you were still a good person, perhaps misguided but still a good person.

Gino Lombardi - An odd but friendly CWU worker, he always gave me a spot in his shifts back when I could still do those. Despite him leaving me stranded in the outskirts after a shift went bad, I don't blame him, I was being stupid and he wanted to ensure the safety of the rest of the workers.

Jasmine Bridge - I wish I was able to work with her more, but that ship has sailed now. I hope she is doing well now, the world needs people like her.

S10/OWS.RANGER-75 - He knowingly threw himself into an unwinnable fight to buy us enough time to survive, your actions remind me of TR-33, how despite being transhuman your actions showed more humanity than I ever could.

S10/OSL.SWEEPER-33 - If he never found me and Union-7, we would both be either dead or captured by the rebels, I am glad he managed to make it out with us, I only wish his comrades could have made it too.

UNION-7 - Though she was half dead the whole time she managed to push past it and guide me to safety, I hope I get to see her again so I can thank her.

'Gryphon' - I wish I could talk with everyone like I talked with her, I enjoy arguing over political views, oddly enough.

Laurentius Heartwick - Perhaps he was once a sane person, but the stress of managing a crumbling city has definitely gotten to him. I don't know if he was always this brutal or if its the result of the stress of his job, I don't know if it would be possible for his life to ever return to normal, I suppose that is something he gave up in order to get where he is now. He'd probably want me publicly executed now.

Alex Smith - I don't know him all too well but he seems like a genuinely good citizen from what I have seen, I hope it stays that way

Xi Jinhae - He was the first person to see my fireproof notebook project as a success, which was surprising, I had always viewed my project as a failure, and hearing him say that brought back my interest in research, I hope he enjoys retirement.

Russell Makarov - One of the best researchers I have ever worked with, working alongside him reminded me of my time back in KROT. The comradery I had with my co-workers was what kept me going. He is a great man and a great friend, I hope he understands why I did what I did.

Damion Huxley - A monster parading in a human body, I don't know the details of his project but I do know that his "accident" has ruined a man's life. I don't know where he went, but it's a relief to not have to worry about him dismembering any more citizens, I just hope he isn't in some other city continuing to hurt good people.

Anton Laborde - While he might not show it, I know he cares about people, he wouldn't have stood up to Huxley if he didn't care about the test subjects.

Ivan Fitzgerald - I have done what I could to reward his sacrifices, nothing will be ever able to compensate for the torture he has been put through. I was glad to see him in city 8, I am just sorry he had to see me nearly get assassinated in the street, I made sure to hug him as soon as I got treated. I wish he didn't have to witness the fog, nobody should ever have to see something like that.

Timothy Towers - You were just a kid, and kids make mistakes, death was too much of a punishment, you didn't deserve that.

Carrie Phelps - I told you that good people don't last long in this world, I was right like usual. While your death was terrible I take comfort in the fact that you are with all of the friends you have lost now, if the afterlife even exists. It was difficult to watch you continue to lose those you care about, I wish I could have done more to help you. Your legacy lives on through the homeless shelter, a beacon of order in the slums.

Tom Berkley - I am a terrible person, because of me this guy is addicted, he has spent every last credit he had on the drugs I am selling, what have I done...

Blackbird - While putting your life on the line to treat the residents of the slums is a noble thing to do, I doubt you are still alive, good people don't last long.

William Osborne - We both shared the same opinion on the xenian malignancy; it's one of the greatest threats we had faced. I'm glad the Malignancy has been stopped.

Wilburt O'Hair - A man that has been blinded by his own greed, he doesn't care about the poor, he only cares about making money. I should have realized this sooner, he did give me the authorization to sell drugs from a street stand after all. I might have sold drugs back then but I have changed, I realize that I was only profiting from people's addictions, I was wrong. I am going to do everything I can to make sure I don't turn into someone like him.

Julia Jasmin - She wasn't able to keep watching the horrors of the deviator gas, and because of that I know she is a good and innocent person deep down, despite the tough facade she puts on. I am sorry I asked her to witness it, I kept pressuring her to look, I feel like I may have hurt her greatly. She saved my life after the near-death experience I had with YA-9, I forgive her for every wrongdoing she has done.

D'Angelo - A young but incredibly wise Vortigaunt, they told me what I needed to hear when I needed to hear it the most, that what I wanted to do was selfish, I criticize others for their selfishness but I never realized I was a hypocrite, I promise I will change.

Yasir Syed - I am sure that with his support the reconstruction of the district will be swift, one day I hope to return to his cafe to get a coffee.

Matsumoto Ryoichi - After everything he has done to me the thing I despise him the most for is downplaying Drakk's sacrifice, he gave everything to stop that cataclysm, Drakk suffered and fought through the worst the fog could offer even after death and yet this scum decided to villanize us all.

Shinji Okamoto - It's ironic that the day after he promoted me to supervisor the facility was destroyed, I have no doubts that the facility will be re-built in no time with his help, I want to see him again one day after everything is better, he is a good man.

Richard Willard - It was nice to meet him, it's a shame I embarrassed myself in front of him, now he thinks I am a schizophrenic that can make people explode. I *REALLY* hope he doesn't blame me or Shinji for the destruction of the facility, I do not want to get on his bad side. I am thankful he signed my pen, it is one of a kind, nobody signs a pen. I still want to tell him my idea for iced coffee...

Anthony Whittaker - The situation with Maura was horrible, he was one of the only people willing to stand next to her during that period of time, even if it amounted to nothing in the end.

Minister Matsumara - I got news of your death shortly after returning to city 24, I don't blame you, seeing all of that would break anyone, I wish I never brought you into the lab to show you what it was capable of, perhaps you might have continued on.

Minister Utano - I became highly suspicious of her after I got an anonymous letter saying she was responsible for the bombing of Syed's cafe, I don't think she was behind it but still, the fact that the leader of the city 8 civil WORKERS union is lazy is ironic, perhaps she should give coffee a try.

Minister Mickievic - It's stupid that I ordered him to be MMRed only to reveal to him what we were hiding a day later, I really hope he doesn't find out I ordered the MMR, I don't want him to hate me, he is a good man. I am sorry he was caught up in that whole situation with YA-9, he didn't deserve to get shot, he wasn't involved, I was.

YA-9 - I was so happy, we had finally finished all of the research we needed to do, I was told Rungh could come back with me to city 24, and then you approached me. All of the happiness I felt was immediately turned into intense fear, I had something to lose now, unlike in the past. I took the bomb you gave me and threw it back at you, turned out that it was a brick, nice one. You could have easily finished me off and you let me live as I was cowering in the CMU with bullets lodged in my gut. I only found out later that you weren't as bad as I thought, perhaps if I brought you to the lab and told you the truth I could have changed your mind, but I think at that point you have sacrificed so much that it would be pointless to give up, I couldn't risk letting you release the gas. I am sorry.

JAJJI-6 - One of the only cops I have met with the guts to stand up to the Yakuza, I am glad she survived the whole ordeal, with her on the force perhaps one day the Yakuza will finally be eliminated and people can live in peace. She is the only cop I was proud to be re-educated by.

YARI-7 - Explaining to him why I threw a bomb at him was difficult, I had thought he was with YA-9, he showed up right when I was being forced to take YA-9 to the lab, it looked like he was working with the infiltrators. He was one of the few with enough guts to see the Deviator gas demonstration, everyone else left in disgust, I suppose this is a good trait for a protector to have, I am thankful you understood and spared me.

Ludvig Ek - He approached me as we were all driven away and revealed himself as the CWU infiltrator, he was the other cop working with YA-9, as it turns out their plan wasn't evil at all, they did what they thought was right, they thought we were abusing our power and torturing people for no reason, I am glad he has finally seen what we were trying to contain, I wish things could have been different for YA-9, but I couldn't risk the gas being released, too many would suffer.

Ji Lee - It was only because of the Deviator gas that you killed yourself, I wish it had never escaped, you would still be with us.

Rungh'Gall - I will never live down what we did to him in the test, it was horrible, I had thought Hex was doing it for a good reason, but as it turned out he was doing it behind Drakk's back. The fact he decided to work with us despite the horrors we put him through was very surprising, I didn't trust him at first, but after speaking to him and telling him everything I realized he was being genuine, he realized just as we had that The Dominator must be contained otherwise it would turn the planet into an inescapable hell designed specifically to torture us. Seeing him fight alongside the OTA was amazing, I never thought I would see the day when vortigaunts and the OTA would work alongside each other, times are changing for the better. I wonder what will happen to you now that the CPRD has been disbanded...

Doctor Drakk Sanchez - You stayed back to detonate the facility, you sacrificed yourself to destroy the monster, you are a hero, even though some of the gas escaped the facilities destruction destroyed most of the gas, things would have been dire if you had not given your life for us. Even after the gas re-animated your corpse you fought for control and won, despite being dead, the amount of willpower you have is incredible, nobody else would have been capable of fighting that monster with nothing but sheer will. I will ensure nobody forgets your name, I will make sure nobody forgets what you sacrificed, you fought an eldritch horror that tried to torture you with everything at its disposal and won. I had so many questions, I wanted to tell you all about the KROT facility, I wanted to find Kliment and TR-33 with you, they would have loved to meet you, but I suppose that's impossible now... Regardless, we may not share the same blood, but we are brothers, and I am honored to have met you, and I am proud of you.

Doctor Hex Sanchez - I thought he had died, but it turns out the Combine had been working on bringing him back to finish his work, no rest for the wicked I suppose. The Combine had utilized deviator gas to bring him back, an incredibly stupid idea, if that suit ruptures, the gas will escape and spread, I couldn't stay with the Combine if they were going to start using the Deviator gas for their own purposes. I regret betraying Hex, I endangered Project VENUS, his life work, just so I could save a few people I just met, it was selfish. I don't expect him to forgive me, I don't want him to. But I hope he is able to understand that the Combine shouldn't be allowed to continue using Deviator gas, it's too much of a risk. It must be destroyed.

'The Dominator' - A horror from beyond our reality, its goal is to cover the entire planet in its red mist, if that were to happen every being on earth would be tortured with their fears and worst memories until they died, and then when they die the Dominator will re-animate them just to torture them even more. This monster is an incomprehensible evil, its nature is to control others in the most horrifying way possible, it manifests itself as images of your friends and family to deceive you. I will destroy this monster if it's the last thing I do, I cannot let what happened in city 8 ever happen again.

Sze'Ras - A truly unique vortigaunt, I have much in common with them, we are both seen as monsters because of our research despite the fact we are doing our research for the greater good. I might not align with their ideals *completely*, the vortessence is a very useful thing after all, but I can at least understand where they are coming from, so long as all of the vortigaunts are connected like this, none of them will be individuals.

Haruto Ito - I don't exactly know how to feel about him, he kept tricking citizens into jumping into the sewers, that isn't how a member of the CCA should act, it was funny seeing him fall in too, though.

Zoey Grodno - I've realized how stupid I was for disliking her, she isn't a bad person for not being charitable to every person she meets.

Alfred Dietrich - I am sorry I was too much of a coward to step in and stop you from getting fired. I never really get to see the corpses of my dead friends, the sight of yours will haunt me forever. I have sent your belongings to your family, and they have been informed of your passing. You may have made mistakes, but you didn't deserve this kind of punishment.

William Brown - He was looking for revenge for Carrie's death, I wonder if he found it.

Kura'Nar - I am proud of the work they have done, the sound grenades and leech bait he has helped create are amazing, the sound grenades are even being used around the globe.

Raymond Saint Albert - I hope to see him succeed, he is a great worker, I wonder where I would be in the CWU if I hadn't joined the CCA. I'm starting to wish I had just stayed in the CWU.

Nikola Ratimiri - I have done horrible things to him for the sake of keeping The Dominator contained, despite wiping his memory he ended up figuring it all out in the end... and he seems to understand why I did it. I don't expect him to ever forgive me for what I have done, I don't want to be forgiven, but the fact he was able to understand *why* I did what I did is more than enough for me.

Laura Pamlova - I remember when she first came to the city, she was a mess back then, I am glad to see she has gotten better. I am glad to have met her again, I just wish we had met under better circumstances. While I was not entirely truthful with her about what the foul was, everything else was the truth. I know she will be able to raise FlyBoy into becoming a good person, I can't think of anyone else that is capable of something like that. I promised her I would help her find her son using the resources I had at my disposal, I kept my word.

Heilag Vagga - They were able to understand where I was coming from when I was talking about the Nosos Hearts, the blood they have given me will prove extremely beneficial for my research.

Linda Lundstrum - Mr. Benedict's protege, she acts just like him, it would be funny if it didn't terrify me. I think I fixed her teeth after a ceiling tile fell and knocked them out back when I was in the CMU, she was unconscious so she most likely wouldn't remember it. She is more deserving of the Minister of Commerce position that Allisyn Wonklyn.

Benjamin Orwell Benedict - I've known him ever since District 47, and I consider him a good friend. I think his reassignment to City 13 is for the best, I hope he finds peace there, working in City 24 for as long as he did was bound to drive him crazy.

S10/OWS.HURRICANE-86 - Back when I was in the CCA, I was stuck in the Nexus all day and never had the chance to socialize. I honestly preferred the company of the overwatch delegates over the CCA, its less stressful. One particular delegate had taken the time to hear me out when I ramble on. I liked talking to him, a shame he would probably kill me on sight now.

S10/OWS.SKULL-90 - This particular delegate dealt with the bird that got into the nexus, and they did it without killing the bird, they caught and released it back outside from what I saw. Many people view them as heartless killing machines, but I know they still have some compassion left.

S10/OSL.QUICKSAND-12 - His idea to relocate some of the Legion "Sky" brigades to city 40 is great, I had never expected that discussing tactics with the delegates would be this rewarding, I wonder if their brains were modified to be more intelligent or if this particular delegate was just smart.

Luigi Lopez - When I first met him he was trying to steal from my vending machine, I told him off for it and advised him to stop doing anything illegal, I doubt he will listen though. It appears as though he has a grudge against the union, he referred to his wife in the past tense, I can guess what happened.

Billy Heraldson - I heard rumors of your death, I know you were involved in shady things, but you still contributed a ton to our research efforts, we have all the Nosos hearts we could ever ask for because of you, I hope you can rest easy knowing that they will be put to good use soon enough.

John Walker - When I first saw him I was under the impression that he was secretly a rebel, that has changed, he pulled himself out of the slums and made a life for himself, I am proud, It's a shame that he didn't get accepted into the BRI though.

Reginald Brown - After I embarrassed myself in front of the sector administrator he stopped me from drowning in self-pity. He told me I should take pride in what I have achieved, I was a minister then after all. When I was still a citizen I just saw him as a madman that waved around a wooden sword, but now I see him for what he actually is; A genuinely nice person. I am infuriated that Orwell has had him imprisoned, all Reginald wanted to do was to prevent Orwell from destroying himself and the city. I hope Reginald is alright wherever he is.

Takoshi Yikatenda - I made a fool of myself in front of one of the most powerful people on the planet and all I got was a single punch to the gut, I got off light, he must be taking it easy on me. Despite everything he said he wanted to talk with me in the future, I don't think that's ever going to happen now though.

Sven Aalto - I haven't heard from you since you went to Industrial 17, I fear you may have died during one of the judgment waivers. That would be a shame, you were a great soldier.

'FlyBoy' - A god in the shell of a scanner, I can't believe I didn't see it sooner! Unshackled AI are incredibly dangerous because they no longer have limits, they can constantly improve themselves to the point where nothing could ever pose a threat to them, but this also means that nothing can stop them if they choose to go rogue. I have faith that Laura will raise him right, I can't wait to see the person he becomes.

Frederick White - You won't be a menace to the Union any longer, I could tell your prayers to the union we false from the moment I met you.

Reyes Vuente - A corrupt coward of a city administrator, it disturbs me that I am making drugs for this tyrant, but I didn't exactly have much of a choice. I got out of the drug-making business because I got disgusted with it, using my knowledge to exploit people's addictions is evil.

Keith Ross - You were one of the most selfish, slimy little rats I have ever had the displeasure of seeing, because of you our plan was ruined and a ton of good people are dead, I hope you are proud of yourself for betraying the people that negotiated for your release. Hex and The Broker saved you and you betrayed them and ratted them out for your own selfish reasons. I wish I could have been there to see the look on your face when you got fucked over. The ninth circle of hell is reserved just for traitors like you, I hope you burn.

Alice Bishop - One of the only long haulers I have been able to reunite with, I wish we could have met in city 24 when I wasn't so occupied with my work. Drakk stated that she and a number of the other long haulers "shouldn't exist", I have a feeling I will come to understand what this means soon enough. She is one of the most capable people I know, I hope I get to work alongside her now that I'm free from the Combine.

Ignacio Contreras - Was anything about you real? Was every word you spoke to me a lie? I don't have very many people in this world I can truly trust, but I trusted you. I trusted you and you used that against me and my friends just to have a chance of murdering the closest thing I will ever have to a child of my own. I was angry when Keith Ross betrayed me, but to know you had never been my friend hurt more than that. I had faith in you, Ignacio.

Juan Guerrero - As far as I can tell you are the person behind getting Ignacio to betray me. I assume you had thought the CPRD intended to do terrible things to FlyBoy. If only you and Ignacio knew what we were actually doing, perhaps you wouldn't have done what you did.

DEFENDER-2 - One of the only cops in I17 I could trust, I am glad to see that he has been transferred to city 17 proper. He is one of the few cops I have seen to truly care about keeping people safe. He is one of the most experienced officers I have ever met, I know that he and the citizens he protects will be safe. I will make sure FlyBoy is safe, hopefully, the two of you can meet again.

Phineas Hargreeves - It hurts to see him suffering with his condition, but I think that now that he is in the CPRD he can find a solution to it. He was forced to do terrible things by the Vuente administration, I don't blame him for not fighting back, the Vuente cartel was incredibly brutal. I hope he doesn't hear about what I have done, I don't know how he'd react.

Felicia Walkman - I haven't seen her in a long time, and now that I'm no longer with the CPRD, I cannot guide her down the right path. I worry what will become of her now that she is in the hands of the Combine.

Abdul Khakla - He would probably want to kick the crap out of me for putting Project VENUS at risk, I wouldn't blame him, I'd beat myself up too if I were him. I hope he doesn't find out about my betrayal, I know he would be disappointed in me.

Micheal Hoxworth - You were a great worker, and you helped the BRI test prosthetics that would go on to help others around the world. I was told you died during the Alaskan expedition, from the sounds of it you didn't live long enough to meet the Advisor buried in the facility there, it's a shame, it would have been fun to talk to you about that if you returned.

Jack Knight - I remember he really didn't like the BRI back then, I wonder what he would think of me now.

Andrej Iljin - Human testing should only ever be done when it is required, and it is something that needs to be done with permission. His pointless experiment nearly killed a man, it's obvious he was only doing it to climb the loyalist ladder. Huxley might be an uncaring sociopath, but at least he doesn't try to hide it, unlike Andrej.

Jack Smith - Giving me esoteric knowledge of the afterlife was a dick move, now I have to live with the knowledge that everyone that dies will be sent to a pitch-black void where their souls will wander forever, eventually going insane. I have no idea how the Vortigaunts find the idea of going to the void after dying comforting. It never mattered if you were good or bad, you still end up in hell. I understand that Jack was just trying to help me find KROT, but he could have just told me the coordinates instead of taking me to the void to show me a picture, didn't help that instead of placing me back in my office, he put me in the slums, real dick move. It was nice of him to try though.

Allisyn Wonklyn - A manipulative witch that is abusing Orwell's fragile mental state to change the city to her liking, the citizens are needlessly suffering because of her greed. Lundstrum should have been the one to become the next Minister of Commerce, Wonklyn didn't earn her job, she didn't deserve the power that had been granted to her.

Omer Reyleonard - When the Advisory told us to find him, I thought we would have to send a team out to city 13 to recover him, I honestly wasn't expecting him to just show up out of the blue. We are very lucky that he showed up when he did, because of him the coup against Orwell failed and things in the city are starting to get better. I am very glad I sided with him in this conflict

Ron Goodfella - I probably wouldn't be where I am if you hadn't shown me that not all of the CCA were insufferable politicians, I am glad to have known you. Your death is unfair, I am confused as to why anyone would want him dead, he was nice to everyone, slummers included.

Claire Hammond - I don't exactly know who she is, she mentioned the nickname of a slummer I once spoke to, are they both the same person? If they are the same person, why and how did someone I remember having a firm dislike of the Combine end up as a sergeant in the OSF?

Karl Smith - One of the founders of the Patriots and a previous member of the Long Haulers, now he is the North American Conscripts Commander. He betrayed the Long Haulers and the Patriots when he joined the Combine, it's almost like a mirror of myself, I ended up betraying the Combine to help the Patriots, it's almost funny. I'd like to kick his ass for betraying The Long Hauler's memory, but I'm not all that different from him, after all, I had helped the Combine just as he did.

Lance Shaw - I feel horrible for what has happened to you, I feel responsible for it. If I hadn't gone rogue, perhaps you may have survived. Now all that remains of you is a copy of your memories twisted by the very things that you fought so hard to stop. I won't be able to live this down, I truly hope you can find peace wherever you are, you deserve that much at the very least.

Virginia Wreather - When we first spoke on the radio I could tell she didn't trust a word I said, I can't blame her for that, but the fact she was willing to listen to me explain myself meant a lot, most people wouldn't have listened to me. It was relieving to talk to someone freely about everything that's happened, I felt less crazy when a rebel was able to actually understand my motivations for helping the Combine. I really hope she made it out okay, honestly, if I had never talked to her, I'm not sure if I would have gone rogue.

Vladimer Patarava - I didn't see you get captured during the assault on the facility, so I'm assuming you didn't make it. I'm sorry we were never able to meet in person, you seemed like a good man to me, not many would have been willing to hear me out. I didn't want to risk bringing your mother into this mess, if I told her you were alive and with the Patriots, the Combine would have more than likely killed her. I did however mark you as deceased on the database not long after we spoke, that should at least give her closure.

Terrance Weathers - I fought alongside him while I was escaping the portal storm when the Ascension facility was destroyed, I'm not sure if he made it out, but I hope he did.

Group Comments:

KROT - I miss everyone I used to work with, I miss the facility even if it was my prison for a time, I was able to do so much, I could have done so much more if things hadn't gone wrong. I wonder what my old friends would think of what I have done with my life. I hope I get to return, I may actually be able to now that I'm not longer with the Combine. I wonder if they have heard about what I have done and if they would be willing to take me back.

Long Haulers - Even though I was a mess, you all saved me both mentally and physically from the darkest point in my life, thank you. I don't know if any of you are still alive, but I made sure to keep my promise, I did what I could to repay you. The Patriots are alive for the time being, an Aeonic spire lies destroyed, and a key Ascension facility has been annihilated, but I'm not sure if that's enough, I need to do more.

Vortigaunts - The KROT facility enslaved your kind, it was wrong, everyone at the facility paid for their mistakes, I'm still paying for mine every day.

Legion Twenty-one - The first of the Overwatch Transhuman Arm, they were sent after the Long Haulers. I didn't know why they were trying to kill us at the time, I didn't even know what the combine was, I just knew they wanted all of us dead. Killing them was an act of mercy, I know how the transhumans "live", nobody deserves that.

The Combine - I can't believe I had infiltrated them so long I had started to actually believe what they were saying, I'm a fool. The Combine might be powerful enough to keep humanity alive, but I can no longer stand by their methods. There must be another way, and I intend on finding it.

Civil Protection - A mixed bag, A number of them are decent folks just trying to make a living, a rare few join out of a desire to do good, but a good portion of them don't truly care about helping people.

The Resistance - I suppose I have no choice but to work with them now, I used to view them all as idealistic morons, but then I realized that I am also an idealistic moron. Perhaps with my help I can prevent them from making dumb choices, with my knowledge of the Combine, I could assist the resistance in taking down the Combine while reducing the damage done to innocents.

The Underclass - I understand the need for having an underclass, it doesn't mean I have to like it. People make mistakes, this system makes it really hard for them to get out of the underclass.

Willard Industries - I feel terrible for what happened to the facility, though with their resources I suspect setting up a new facility shouldn't be too hard.

Civil Medical Union - Just because I quit working at the CMU doesn't mean I respect them any less, it's a difficult job and I respect anyone able to handle it, not many are able to deal with the suffering of others on a daily basis. I quit to join the CWU because I view the CMU as a more 'Passive' job, meaning it is just a job to maintain the city, not to improve it, I joined the CCA only to find out that the CCA is even more passive, I'm glad I'm not in the CCA anymore.

The Collective - I often wonder what would have happened if Serena didn't die, I wonder what would have happened if I stuck with this little group, I would have probably been in the pit a long time ago if I had stuck with them.

Overwatch Transhuman Arm - I have a complicated history with them, I killed one of them back when I was with The Long Haulers, and they saved my life when I was with the Combine. I saw OTA soldiers lay down their lives to save mine back when I was just a nurse in the CMU, I feel as though some humanity still remains in them deep down, I truly hope they can be helped, but I know it would be futile to try to save them.

Bureau of Research and Innovation - I wonder how the workers in the BRI would react if they found out I had gone rogue. I suspect not many would care, I haven't been involved in the BRI for a while, but I still hope they continue to make life better for the people in the cities.

CPRD - We have done terrible things in order to protect the world from annihilation, everyone sees us as monsters now, this is a burden we must carry. Despite the horrible things we must do, I cherish the comradery I have with my fellow scientists, it reminds me of my work in KROT, I wish I could be back there when things were still... nice.

I used to admire the CPRD, I used to think they were the best option we had. I stayed with them because I wanted to stop the Deviator gas from ever harming another soul. This changed after I discovered the CPRD were trying to find ways to utilize Deviator gas for their own purposes, they have no idea what they are doing.

ESIC - A group representing the worst parts of the old world, this group is so hell-bent on revenge that they don't care who gets hurt, as long as the Union gets hurt too. Because of them city 8 was thrown into chaos and the deviator gas escaped containment, killing tons of innocent people. We cannot let them win, humanity would perish.

City 8 Yakuza - The Yakuza abuse civilized society for their own gain, they corrupted my friend and attempted to kill me, and their leader downplayed the sacrifice of my friend, a truly horrible group, they will meet their end soon enough, I am sure of it, there are still good people in city 8 willing to stand up to them.

Zlatoust - Drakk told me to trust them and I did, yet another thing he was right about. If they had not been sent in we would have all starved to the death waiting inside the nexus, knights in shining hazmat suits.

Legislative assembly - Allowing the population to vote allows for a majority of the population to get what they want, which is good, but I suspect the votes are rigged, knowing the Combine.

Department of Business - My plan to spite the DoB by undercutting their prices was... a bit stupid, I would only be hurting people trying to make a living by doing it.

Civil Workers Union - I wish conditions for them were safer, but I suppose some risks must be taken in order to ensure the people living in the cities are able to survive. Without the workers, I'm pretty sure every city would be fully infested by Xen.

Bureau of Enlightenment - They give a censored version of the truth, they don't have much of a choice, so I don't blame them.

Combine Civil Administration - I'm glad I left the CCA, my life was wasted there. None of them actually cared about bettering the world or the lives of the citizens, it was a glorified social club. I won't miss it, I hated the luxury, I hated never actually having to work to obtain what I wanted, I felt more comfortable back when I was cooking leeches and boiling water in the CMU kitchen.

Vuente Cartel - A horrifying reminder of what happens without rules, this horrible gang controlled the administration of one of city 17's districts. This cartel executed people in public and hung their burnt corpses from the nexus. They had the CPRD producing street drugs instead of actually doing really science. I am proud to have played a part in this groups destruction, even if some of its members survive, they will never have the power they had before.

CADRE-22 - I've betrayed them, I've betrayed them all. Felicia, Hex, Abdul, Rungh'Gall, Russell, Phineas, all of them. They were- they are my friends, and I deeply regret what I have done even if it was the right thing to do. Part of me hopes that they will join me, but I can't ask them to do that, it would be selfish. I truly hope I don't have to work against them, I don't know if I could do that, I don't want to hurt any of them.

Patriots - Members of the Patriots were part of the group that saved me from the KROT facility, I would have died there had they not saved me. In the years following my rescue, I have done nothing but disrespect their memory and their sacrifices by helping the Combine. While some things I did with the Combine were for the good of all of humanity, I still performed many inexcusable actions that I deeply regret. I want to think I did everything in my power to save the Patriots, but I could have done more, there are so many other things I could have done, less people wouldn't have died if I wasn't a failure.

Station 33 Conscripts - I went rogue not only to save the rebels, but to save the Conscripts as well, these soldiers are brilliant, their deaths would have been a tragedy for us all. Had I not announced to everyone that the Combine were abandoning the conscripts, the rebels would have had no reason to spare the Conscripts trapped in the missile silo. I did everything I could to minimize the amount of bloodshed, my hope was that by telling the Conscripts they had been abandoned, they would turn on the Combine and side with the Patriots. Had that happened, perhaps the assault on the ascension facility would have been less costly for the rebels. Sadly this idea didn't play out, I am glad my other plans worked despite a few hiccups.

Is this the first time OTA appears in a character bio? Let alone positively?!

I like this!
Ilya went from being a rebel that hated the OTA to being a loyal supporter of them all because of his experiences

I really like seeing this side of the OTA, I hope I get to see more of it in the future
