I for one has always loved realism and the aesthetic of gas masks, but I always wondered.. what if there was a togglable option for a gas mask hud?

Just like the immersive glasses addon, we'd have a Immersive gas mask option for both the M40 Gas mask and the standard "gas mask."

Well, a single addon comes to mind which would help to bring that to idea to life:

Masks and Helmets H.U.D. Overlay Mod

Adding this option can give the player a sense of accomplishment when acquiring a gas mask, by simply adding the overlay.. due to its "immersive" nature as it provides the actual feel of wearing such equipment.

gas masks already give a HUD but it isn't as cool as that one.

This is pretty cool I would like to see that on the server and maybe if you were in combat or something there is a chance the glass on the mask can break a bit and it would show just cracks on the hud

You could just get a permanent marker and draw the lines on your monitor instead, too much effort to code denied sorry reapply in two years

Some thoughts:

This is something I've thought about doing in the past but never really did for a couple of reasons.

The number one reason for this being an issue is aspect ratio support. The only conceivable way for me to do this correctly would be to have multiple versions that scale based on screen res, and are scaled correctly for various aspect ratios.

The current overlay for CPs is one that was custom made (honestly can't remember by whom) years back for willard, and I shoved it in (to replace the really shitty blue default one). It is a basic honeycomb overlay with some fringing and aberration towards the corners. It works for all resolutions and aspect ratios. The UI components automatically scale (but that is because they are basic shapes / fonts)

This should help further illuminate the issue:letterboxin.png

From what I gather, this task wouldn't be easy.. however it is possible correct?

Not too bad actually. All you need is a knife and some cardboard

This is amazing. The details.. the contrast.. a piece of art.
