This has been brought up in the past and declined by another Dev if I remember. This is extremely hard to pull off, it isn't a cakewalk by any means and consumes a lot of dev time. Not only does it come with a heavy dev time, but also can impact performance by a significant amount, one impact which would make me shake my head.
Keep in mind source is not by any means an advanced engine and lua is only extremely basic vs a lot of other languages, it can be incredibly limiting and such, making this suggestion an extremely hard one to grant. I will speak with Atle about it first, then return with the conclusion. And before anyone suggests using PlayX... no, even that has a hefty amount of problems of its own to deal with.
Not to drop any technical jazz on your heads, but to sum it up... the server may not work well with such an addon in place and it is along with the same reasons we decline the request for 3D stream radio on numerous occasions... but with some additional technical reasons on why not since PlayX is even heavier than 3D stream radio in comparison.
It may suck to hear this but welcome to Gmod and Source... it's limited. (Oh and you may have noticed PlayX has died out over the years and with good reason...)
