In memoriam - v2

With v2 coming to a close I'm curious, what are people's favourite memory from v2, or in general what was your favorite thing throughout the years?

Feel free to mention any megaevents or events/expos you were a part of that you still fondly recall too. (Or characters)

Personally my favorite thing throughout all of v2 was the CWU. Dipping into the loyalist scene, and later doing rogue stuff, especially with other characters assisting me, it was fun. Smuggling info/resources to folks in the Outlands, getting escorts, all the tension always kept things interesting.

It was also fun exploring Xen not too long ago on Douglas.

As for my favourite character from v2, I'd probably have to go with Emiyo. It's been nice seeing the character develop over time, to where she is now.

When a dear friend of mine looked at a rebel biolock on a ventilation door and went "Wtf. Willard has fallen it's so over."

Krah days... days of LINE-3... the old Rank Leader council... the golden age is gone...
 
The Good Loyalist plot this March went so wild the server is still dealing with the repercussions.

Hosting all manner of events, ranging from both small and quirky to sever-wide. Short Stories will always have a special place in my heart, and I sincerely hope even throughout the break between V2 and V3 they will shine through. The creative freedom, the shenanigans we created together, and most importantly, the positive reaction of the community to it all. I wouldn't trade those moment for anything, even if they may seem like silly meetings between strangers online on a several years old game. I've literally grown alongside Garry's Mod, and Willard was certainly a good chunk of It.
 
honestly the one month or so we were on c8. both my loyalist and cop got up to some crazy shit that i doubt i'll forget

getting into a huge s2rp bar fight as my cop with a couple of others against @nath1234567 @pite and their rebel friends was so awesome, we got hit by an emp and someone very easily couldve pulled a gun and ruined it but nobody did. it was super awesome, chaotic and well done with everyone properly rping and in good faith.

on my loyalist, i generally loved the schemes i had to go through. plotting with @Purple Knight on how to steal more money from construction projects, planning with @Cocohop about hosting a festival for the 7hw while we simultaneously plotted on how to influence the party. generally a ton of good rp.

i also really enjoyed new frontiers, even if it was a megaevent. it was a breath of fresh air where player freedom was at its highest. the three groups made so many deals that they broke mere days later that it was confusing, but still fun. the highlight of it was the panic my conscript went through when she saw @Furious ' commander get killed in front of her mid attack

in recent times, i have immensely enjoyed roleplaying with @Nezoose , @Divine , @Garratz , @Another Rain , @pegwin and @Felix on my cop. they've all been good cookies who enhanced his story in interesting ways.

as for my citizen, whos arc of one year is finally coming to a close, theres too many people to name who have been very pleasant to rp with. so many awesome moments that werent all that significant, like chilling in a random room and talking about insignificant bullshit. @AgathaL , @MelonHeadzzz , @Kappatalist , @RileyTheRoomba , @Armenian Union , @Lost Coast Chanties , @icedout , @Cjtn10 , @Cocohop , @Processed_Grain , @quest . really just way too many awesome people to count in one message
 
I fucking hate romance RP in these games, but Ashley Valera x Jamie Makin with the GOAT @Purple Knight was the exception.
Hanging out with @nora as Juniper was fun politics RP as well. And Terminal 7 politics Arc with the lads (especially @MrMindBlow !!).
Playing as Nullwick with @nath1234567 & the entire rebel scene was fun. I hope people enjoyed interacting with him until he died to space aids from the Tyrant.
In prior times, I enjoyed playing as a doctor & RPing with @Wraygun on his CivPro.

Favourite event was 10 billion percent Purgatory by @Ekrell it was so good
 
I've only played a long time since 2024 but probably the three best moments I had was:
Freeing of captured rebels after the failed Fort E'cluse raid

Terminal 7. It was tough running the rebel scene after the economy was reset and materials were scarce. I had to do some risky things but for substantial rewards. That sort of risk was fun

And my time with the Front, great RPers and great moments. My character was Front for life until her demise

Speaking of Victor.

Been here since the merger with TerraNova, and despite all the times, its been an absolute blast.
If I'm being honest, too many people I've interacted with were absolutely phenomenal to play with. And I'm sad to say that I can't remember them all, even sadder that a number of them have since moved on.

I had a CP unit that ran through almost every rank, from RCT all the way to MCP, just to demote myself to i1 again because I thought MCP was boring as fuck, then came back as an i5 (only to die a week later to a Liberator attack smh).

I recently had my character James Dornan, 'The Major', a Conscript Major from the original i24 garrison that killed Mallory Bloke and turned rebel, perish in a Hail Mary Operation he organized. By his words to a close friend (@Acheif )
"I'm dead either way, either by the hands of the Roses or by the end of this Operation."
Saddening, sure, but I couldn't have asked for a better way than a blaze o' glory.

Can't say the last few months of v2 have been great. But..!

I've thoroughly enjoyed it from my entry in January 2024 till now. The biggest thing that struck me about Willard is its technical innovation and its brilliant integration of art in and out of the server. These two things elevate Willard from a measly HL2RP server, into a vibrant community that pushes the envelope of the engine and brews stories that are several notches better than anything else I've played in the gamemode.

Willard makes HL2RP not merely a gamemode, but an artistic endeavour. It's no surprise Willard has consumed hundreds of hours of my attention.
