Standing with a nervous posture, her shoulders slightly hunched as if expecting to be called out for something she forgot, a young woman with short, dark brunette hair and a smile that never quite reaches her eyes. Her gaze flits around like a cornered animal's—curious, wary, and always moving—paired with hands that fidget or clutch her bag like it holds the last of her memories. |

"It's not like I remember much anyways, but here's my story."
"The walls remember. I wish I didn't."
"My Biography"
Written by Irene Dupont (I think? That’s what the tag says.)
I don’t remember being born.
I don’t remember my parents, or if I had any. I don’t remember what food I liked, if I ever got cold in the rain, or if I ever laughed until I cried.
I don’t remember if I’ve ever really cried at all.
I just remember the suitcase.
It was heavy, and my hands were white from gripping it. The leather was cracked. I think it was mine. Maybe.
And then—eyes.
Big, glowing eyes. Orange. The color of peaches, warm and strange.
Peaches.
That was his name. A Vortigaunt.
He looked at me like I was something familiar, and maybe I was. Maybe he was just the first thing in this world that didn’t look angry. I followed him. Because I didn’t know what else to do. The station was loud, and dusty, and full of people moving like they all knew where they were going.
I was just… dropped there. Like a package no one claimed.
Peaches brought me to a place called the clinic. That’s where they handed out rations, I think. There were others. A man named Eduard. He told me to be an example. To disagree.
With what? I didn’t know.
But I nodded. I smiled. I tried to look like someone who understood what was happening.
There was a doctor—Ludwig Keitel. I remember his name because it clung to my teeth like something sticky. There was another man too, but his name slipped away the second I heard it. That happens a lot. Names don’t stay long. Faces blur. Words lose their shapes.
They warned me about Peaches. Said he was dangerous. That his kind were dangerous.
But he didn’t feel dangerous.
He felt real.
He spoke like every word was important, like the world was made of questions and riddles, and the answers were always just a little out of reach.
He brought me to the slums. Asked me what I knew.
And I laughed.
Not because it was funny—but because I didn’t know anything.
Nothing at all.
He said that was good. That empty vessels could be filled with truth. His truth. About resistance. About freedom. About fighting.
I didn’t really understand it. But it made my heart beat a little faster. Like maybe I’d finally heard something that mattered.
So I said I’d fight.
Not because I knew how.
But because I wanted to be something before someone else decided for me.
I started picking up things. Trash. Scraps. A shoe without a match. A broken spoon. That’s what people did down there. They made a living out of what others threw away.
And then I found a turtle plushie. Small. Soft. One eye missing.
It looked like me. Forgotten. But still smiling.
So I kept it.
Then I found another. And another.
Now my suitcase is full of them.
Tiny turtles. Quiet little faces. Always smiling back.
People say I smile too much. That it’s strange.
But if I don’t smile…
I might scream.
And I don’t think anyone would like that.
So I keep smiling.
I keep collecting.
I keep forgetting.
And maybe one day I’ll remember something that matters.
But if I don’t… that’s okay.
I still have my suitcase.
And my turtles.
And the memory of soft orange eyes.

"The walls remember. I wish I didn't."
"My Post-Nova Prospekt Biography"
Written by Irene Dupont, after the fact.
I was caught in the metro by Transhumans.
I think I was trying to help, or maybe I was just lost.
They sent me to Nova Prospekt.
Fourteen days.
They didn’t scream at me. They didn’t need to. They just turned off the world around me. The lights stayed on. The silence was louder than any beating I ever got. I forgot what time was. Forgot what hunger felt like. Forgot where I was supposed to be.
They didn’t torture me physically. They didn’t need to. I think pain becomes worse when it’s done with care.
Sometimes I could hear humming. Sometimes I could hear my own breathing and it was all I had. Sometimes I could hear nothing at all and that scared me more than anything.
I remembered I had an arm. My right one. Crushed in the Nexus, long before Nova Prospekt. They never fixed it. It healed wrong. And it aches when I breathe.
I don’t smile anymore. I don’t cry either.
People talk to me like I’m still there. Like I’m still sweet. Like I’m still Irene.
I’m not.
I flinch at kindness. I bite when someone gets close. I feel like a dog that was beaten too long and forgot how to be touched without hurting something.
I keep repeating it in my head:
"I'm a bad person."
Again.
And again.
And again.
Maybe if I say it enough, it’ll explain what I’ve become.

-APPEARANCE- Standing with a nervous posture and shoulders slightly hunched, Irene moves like someone who is constantly afraid of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her short, dark brunette hair frames a pale face that rarely stops smiling, even when it should. Her eyes dart quickly between people and corners, often settling on nothing in particular. Her hands fidget, tugging at sleeves or clutching tightly at the strap of her suitcase—her anchor in a world she barely understands. -FAMILY- MOTHER: Unknown / No memory of her name or face. FATHER: Unknown / Possibly never met. SIBLINGS: None that she knows of. But sometimes, she dreams of someone—blurry, warm, familiar. She calls them “Not-Turtle.” | -PERSONALITY- Irene is deeply anxious, easily startled, and often lost in thought, yet she maintains an eerie, joyful demeanor that never falters. She smiles too wide, too often, even when she’s terrified. Her words come out soft and dreamy, like someone waking from a long sleep. Despite her forgetfulness, she is eager to help and desperate to feel useful. Her unwavering trust in others—especially those who show her kindness—makes her both endearing and vulnerable. -LIKES AND INTERESTS-

✦ Charlotte "Charlie" Eloise ✦
"My second half. One day, when this is all over, we’ll be chasing rainbows, gazing at the moon. I promise. I love you, Charlie."
She is the piece of me I didn’t know was missing. When the world finally quiets down, when the smoke clears, I’ll be there with her—chasing every silly, beautiful dream we were too busy fighting to reach before. Always.

"I think that you spit on the ones you like! I mourned you, burying you into Elijah’s garden. But your soul found its way into another frog—and you found me once more, like we promised. You are my froggy friend. I love you."
Even death couldn’t stop him from keeping his promise. He is proof that not all lost things stay gone. I’ll carry him in my hands, in my heart, through every silly adventure still waiting for us.

✦ Georgia "Sister" Barnes ✦
"Sister, even when you are far away from me, I shall forever fight for the freedom we both sought and fought for, side by side."
She showed me how to be brave without asking me to be loud. She was the fire I could warm my hands near. I miss her laugh, the one that sounded like defiance.
"You made me kill. No one told me what was going to happen. You simply put a weapon in my hands and told me to kill. You made me the monster I am now. I hate you."
I followed you because you burned so brightly. I thought that meant you knew the way. But all you did was light a path to blood. You handed me a weapon and called it freedom. I smile, but it doesn’t reach the part of me you broke. I still miss you.
That’s the worst part.
TBD

✦ Uwe "Geier" Schulz ✦
"Hiya Geier, tell me again about her. I just want to see your soul light up again, with that smile on your face that seems so genuine. I’ll hold you close as much as needed until you are able to see her again. We’re best friends, after all."
His stories make the air feel warmer. Even the sad ones. Especially the sad ones. When he talks about her, his whole face changes—like the past is still alive in his voice. I’ll stay close. Until the world is quiet enough for him to hear her again.

✦ "Winters" ✦
"You always wear that silly green medical mask, Winters. Are you sick? Oh, wow—put it back on! You’re cuter that way. But hey… I hope you come back as a crow when you pass. Let me know how freedom tastes when you do. I’ll be waiting with food for you. I love you!"
He was patient with me. That’s how I knew he was real. He made the scary things sound simple, even when they weren’t. I don’t know if I’ll ever stop saying strange things around him—but I hope he never stops listening.

✦ Peaches ✦
"Peachy, the one who saved me from wandering. Without you, I would surely have been executed by the Combines."
He found me when I was no one. No name. No past. Just a girl with a suitcase and a smile stitched too tight. He taught me freedom before I even knew what chains were. I don't understand everything he says... but I don't need to. I just listen.

✦ "Uriel" the Prophecy of Wisdom ✦
"I was tasked by one of your kin to give you your title—specially requesting for me caught me by surprise. Yet I am glad to be the one who gave you such an honorable title. Your brain may be injured, but injuries heal and make us stronger. Watching you run around, full of energy, brightens my already blinding days."
He's like a spark that refuses to go out, no matter how heavy the rain falls. He reminds me that even broken things shine the brightest. I’m proud of him, even if I don’t always say it loud enough.
"I couldn’t let you take the fall for me. I had to find you. I had to. No one leaves Uriel behind. I love you. Charlie does too. You are our child, and we are proud—so proud—to be allowed to stand beside you and see you grow. I love you, and I am proud of you, my son."
He brings light to a world that only ever taught us shadows. He asks questions with such honesty it makes the rest of us remember how. When he cries, I break a little. When he smiles, I heal. He is not just hope—he is the proof that we’re allowed to keep hoping. And if this world ever tries to take him again… I will burn for him without hesitation once more.

✦ Ludwig "Luddy" Keitel ✦
"I still wear your glasses proudly. I don’t really understand your fascination for me, but I am glad to be able to be a part of your life, Luddy."
He looks at me like I’m important. Like I’m real. I don’t always understand why, but I don’t mind it either. He makes me feel warm, like something worth holding onto. Even if no one else sees it.

✦ "Oleg" ✦
"I'm sorry that I told you to find them when you said we lost three people... I wasn't sure what it meant. I'm also sorry for making you cry, Big O'."
He scares me a little. Not in the bad way—just the loud way. Like thunder when it's too close. But he listens, even when he yells. I think he cares, even if he forgets how to show it. I hope he knows I never meant to make things worse.

✦ "Naomi" ✦
"Nao, when O' told me that you didn't make it back with them, I blamed myself for not being there. I didn't cry, I didn't scream, I could only smile. I hope you understand what I meant. I'm glad we are reunited once more."
She was gone for a while. Long enough for me to feel the emptiness in places I didn't know could go hollow. When she came back, something in me stitched itself together again. I don't know if she forgives me—but I'm still smiling.

✦ Noel Bradshaw ✦
"Heya Noel… it’s been a while since we saw each other. I hope that you survive your next adventure. I promised you drinks, and I told you that two funerals were too expensive… Please, give us a sign of life, Noel. I miss you."
He was loud, brave, always moving like the world couldn’t catch him. I wonder if it did. I try not to think about it too long. I’ll keep your drink waiting, just in case. Just in case you come home.

✦ "Angakkuq" ✦
"Unc, I never thanked you for giving me my nickname ‘Bag.’ I don’t get a lot of gifts, so I’ll cherish it, even when you die of old age. You ain’t allowed to die any other way. Love you."
He calls me things no one else does, and somehow they always fit. He’s steady, like a wall I can lean on. Charlie told him he looks like an uncle, and now I can’t imagine him being anything else. He better outlive me. That’s the rule.

✦ "Taskmaster" ✦
"The one in charge, the big guy behind lots of things we believe in—but past that, a friend, a confidant, someone who understands me. Let’s lay in the ruins and rubbles while watching the Protozoans together. I learned that cool name from the Vortigaunts. I’m cool now!"
He’s a mountain that listens. A shadow that feels safe. I don’t always get what he’s thinking, but I like how it sounds when he talks. He lets me ramble about alien things and never tells me to stop. That’s rare. That’s special.

✦ "Rouge" ✦
"Rouge, I’m sorry I got you into so much trouble. I have been learning from Vortigaunt, yet you have been learning humans through me—which makes such a mess. I’m sorry I’ve hugged you so much that we both got in trouble with your elders. But you’ll forever be the one in my heart—the strange Vortigaunt that tries to mimic humans, while I’m also learning to mimic them too. I love you, Rouge. More than words can describe."
He's like me in ways that don’t make sense. He copies smiles the way I copy silence. I think that’s why I feel safe with him. We’re both pretending to be something we’re still trying to understand.

✦ "Ramses" ✦
"Now that I’ve seen and talked to you, I know that the Vortigaunts are the saviors. Fighting for Freedom has never made so much sense when I hear you speak."
His voice feels like calm water. Every word settles in my chest like it’s been there before, waiting. He made me believe again—not in people, but in purpose. If this world has magic left, it’s in his eyes.

✦ "Samael" ✦
"I’ll always be there for you to bum a cigarette from—I might just not have the fire to light it up. Your way of satisfying my curiosity about the Vortigaunts without belittling me for each idiotic question I may ask has granted you my entire respect. I hope we talk more. I enjoy speaking with you about everything and nothing."
He's like smoke in a cathedral—strange, sacred, and impossible to hold. He never made me feel small, even when I knew nothing at all. That means more than I can ever say without giggling halfway through.

✦ "Gary" ✦
"You showed me your path. I was able to bring her safely to the surface thanks to you. I owe you everything. You were on my side the entire time, in my corner, and you never asked questions."
He didn’t need to speak much—just being there was enough. He made the chaos feel navigable, like there was still something steady in the world. If I ever find my way again, it’ll be because he helped me take the first steps.

✦ Rick "Dad" Ketterson ✦
"Hi Dad, I’m glad we met, even if it was you patting me down for a wire. But you made up for it by giving me a plushie. Thanks for giving me a place to stay and making it feel like a home. I’m truly thankful."
He started off suspicious. Now he’s family. I call him Dad, even if he grumbles about it. He gave me safety, and something soft to hug. That’s more than most ever have. I hope he knows what that means to me.

✦ The Conduit, His Inviction's Champion ✦
"It all started with a claw around my neck. It’s a wild story we’ll tell others, as some sick, strange memory that we fondly look upon. You were hungry, and I was easy prey. You promised me not to eat others—you’ve grown so much in such a short time. Look at you, you’re beautiful when you smile, Conduit. I’m glad to be considered your friend now. Less talk, more eating!"
He was my nightmare once… now he's just my weirdest friend, and I love it. I don’t know how that happened, but I’m not scared anymore. He chose to apologize and change, and that’s rare coming from humans, I imagine it's almost never happening amongst Vortigaunts. That’s something worth smiling about.

✦ Marie-Thérèse "Mar'" D'Ambroise ✦
"Hiya Mar’, it’s been so long… I miss you so much. Did you finally get that Tier Four Armband you wanted? When I see you again, I’ll have your planter with some grass in it, so that you can look at the grass again... Please Mar’... I miss you."
She talked about things like they were dreams with deadlines. Grass, ranks, purpose. I think she floated somewhere too far for me to follow. But I keep the planter ready. Just in case she comes back down.
"You've passed. I didn't believe it at first. I still struggle with the pieces of the puzzle I was given. You went in there, trying to kill Uwe Schulz. Why him? Who asked you? It makes no sense.. You were so much of an air-head when you were with me. Almost getting me in trouble by telling Loyalists that I might had been an Anti-Citizen. Yet.. In the end, I was the one left here. I hope to see you in your new form.. We never spoke of what it is that you wanted to become once you pass, so I pray that you are a bird, so that your wings may take you far away from here. We'll meet again."

✦ Elodie the Lost Soul ✦
"It’s a promise, Elodie. We’ll play together forever, whenever you want. I’ll run into the sewers at your call. I’ll drop everything, if it means that your tears cease when we’re together. We’re friends—the bestest of them all, remember?"
She's a ghost I never want to let go of. When we’re together, the world fades and it’s just games and giggles and strange, soft sadness. I don’t care what she is—I just know she's mine. And I’ll always come when she calls.

"Imagine giving me a job, just to make me cry and hide away from the world. At least we made up. You’re still a bit strange, but friends of friends are friends of mine. Thank you for being there for me, Malik."
He confused me. Hurt me, even, without meaning to. But then he tried to fix it. That counts for something. He’s strange, sure—but so am I. Maybe that’s why it works.

"Your hands—you keep looking at them, as if asking if you’ll be punished for the smile you gave me. The tears that ran down your cheeks… do they even let the sorrow escape your heart? Rich… Bad things will always happen. Don’t blame yourself for them. It isn’t because you smile that it all happens. It’ll happen anyways. So might as well smile with me when it does."
He carries too much in hands not made for it. I wish he’d see what I see when he smiles—that even in all this ruin, there’s something beautiful left. Let’s smile together, even when the world says we shouldn’t.

"We don’t really talk—our leaders were butting heads for far too long. But we both care for someone very important. Let’s be friends, so that we may protect her better."
You and I orbit the same stars. Maybe we were meant to be distant, but I’d rather meet in the middle. If we both love her, then we’re already on the same side. That’s enough for me.
"I hope Filya’s doing okay. You keep an eye on him, okay? He’s becoming sick, and it’s worrying me. I’ll be the one to keep an eye on Charlie from up here. I love her. I promise to show her rainbows when this is all over. So… Thank you for fighting for us. I mean it."
She carries pieces of the people I care about. I trust her with them. That's not something I do easily. Please keep them safe, and I'll do the same from my side. We're fighting for the same dream, even if we're standing in different corners.
"You died… I think. I could never get the official confirmation, since I was sent to Nova Prospekt. I wasn’t there to collect the broken pieces of your fall… I’m afraid to see what has become of the city without you."
I keep hearing her name in echoes—never sure if they’re ghosts or just memories trying to crawl back into the light. She was a pillar in a place full of cracks. And now… I think the whole building is falling. I miss her, even if I never got the chance to say it right.

"You were my boss. You made me laugh, smile, and cry. You’re one of the big loyalists. It scares me a little. Sometimes I feel like you’ll get me in trouble, then you seem to let me loose without a thought. I never know what you’re thinking… but my friends think highly of you. We’re friends… I think?"
He confuses me more than most. That’s not a bad thing. I just hope I’m not a joke to him. I smile around him, but it’s the kind that feels like holding my breath.
TBD

✦ Evelyn "Eve" Harding ✦
"Hey Eve, how’s the collar? I hope Sister hasn’t cut you in half by now. You know I trusted you, right? Sorry it had to come to this."
We were in-betweeners. Quiet in the chaos. I thought that meant something. Maybe it still does. Maybe it never did. I don’t hate you, Eve. I just wish we were still on the same side of the line.

✦ Civil Protection Unit – "Iris" ✦
"You were always kind to me. You told me that you were sorry each time your baton met my frame. That you were at the top, alone. That you were a bitch, a cunning whore—but I think you are worthy of love and compassion. You need it the most, of everyone I’ve seen. I can’t hate you… even if I know you were trying to find information on me. You still opened yourself to me. I miss you. Meeting you kept me sane for a few hours in Nova Prospekt."
She made pain feel like something deliberate. Almost gentle, in a twisted way. And through all the bruises and questions, I saw someone breaking quietly behind the mask. I hope someone holds her the way she never lets anyone hold her anymore.

"You know, I was a bit scared of you when we first met. I didn’t know how anything worked—especially the big machines. But we talked after, and it was like meeting a whole new person. It made me realize that most of the people with armbands aren’t bad people. They’re just good at playing pretend. I’m glad I get to call you a friend, Jess."
She helped peel the mask off a world I didn’t understand. Underneath all the metal and orders and wires, there was just… her. Kind. Human. I needed that reminder. I think she did too.

"We met when you bought a Vortigaunt Coat for me when I was too broke. I was a bit scared because you looked so scary—and I thought you were one of the loyalists. But you’ve grown on me. You’re a strange one, Monir."
At first, he was all sharp edges and warnings. But then he showed kindness in the clumsiest way possible. Strange how scary people can end up being the ones who hand you warmth without asking anything back.

✦ Civil Protection Unit - "Adonis" ✦
"Do you always choose to help others the way you do? I gave you your title—Adonis, as the god of resurrection. May you rise again, Adonis, so you may be turned into a god."
He wore his uniform like armor, but his voice always felt like a hand being offered, not a weapon being raised. Maybe I saw something divine in him because he treated me like something human. I hope he remembers that name—I gave it to him for a reason.

✦ "Anders" ✦
"You were the first person I approached by myself since I awoke. You taught me to play Blackjack, then I won a bottle of adhesive from you. You’re not around often enough. I think about you and your arrogance often… do you think about me too?"
He made me feel brave, even if it was just over cards and a bet that didn’t matter. Maybe it did matter. Maybe I still carry that little empty bottle because it reminds me of him. Strange how a game can make someone feel like they belong.

"We met on my first day out of Nova Prospekt. I was afraid—terrified even—and I wanted to fight and hurt everything around me. You just happened to be there with her. You both tried giving me chances, but I kept pushing you away. Now look at us. We’ve both apologized. We’re growing as people. I thought you were just another loyalist acting out of selfishness… but maybe I was wrong. We’ll get through all of this together."
He was in the wrong place at the wrong time—but he stayed. That’s what matters to me now. He talks like a man tangled in too many thoughts, but every word he's shared with me stitched something broken. I’m glad we kept talking. I’m glad I was wrong.

✦ Civil Protection Unit - "Big Brother" ✦
"I hope your sister’s recovering well. I’ve been thinking about the both of you here and there. I wonder if you think of me sometimes. I’ve been trying to humanize the CPs, because, at the end of the day, we’re both humans. At first, I was simply curious about rules and such. But quickly, you made me curious about the man behind the mask… or should I say masks? Does it hurt, to impose the will of your superiors on the innocent? I listened to your tales, ‘Big Brother.’ Allow me to listen once again."
He was more than his voice filter. He made me believe there were still people behind the orders. I don’t know if he lied, or if the truth just hurt too much. But I still want to understand him.
"You promised that we’d talk again… But now, I had to give another unit a plushie, in hope that they can place it on your memorial… if you even have one. Why did you have to suffer from their hands? I’ll miss you, ‘Big Brother’… I hope your sister will find me, the way you promised to find me."
He was supposed to be the proof that there was still something human behind the mask. And now he's gone, taken by friends of mine. I keep smiling, but my hands shake when I think about him. I still hope you’re out there… just quiet, not gone.

✦ Stephanie - The Tall Clone ✦
"I don’t think we look alike at all. I don’t know what people see. I wish I had your appearance—you’re pretty, like a blooming flower."
They call us clones, but you’re a whole different kind of beautiful. I smile too much and twitch too often. You stand tall like nothing ever touched you. Maybe that’s why people squint when they look at us side by side.

✦ Asmode "Asmodeus" Rause ✦
"You’re a loyalist through and through. But the ones who dig their own graves sometimes need assistance—so that they may understand they’re digging the wrong way. Asmodeus. It is a title. But do not fear its name. Let it empower you to find your true self."
I named you after a demon, not to curse you—but to remind you that even the feared can change shape. You stand tall in their colors, but I wonder if the weight of their flag ever presses on your spine. If it does, let the name echo in your mind until you stand straighter—not for them, but for you.

✦ "Eden" ✦
"I don’t have much to say to you. Sorry we aren’t friends? I don’t know. Our only real interaction out of fighting together was something I didn’t appreciate. Maybe we can try again one day."
I don’t think you meant to hurt me—but you still did. That’s okay. People aren’t perfect. Maybe next time, we’ll talk without raised voices. I’d like that, I think.

✦ Civil Protection Unit – Arm-Breaker ✦
"I must have looked pathetic under your boot when you crushed my arm like it was nothing. You didn’t care that it wasn’t me who was fucking up. You wanted someone to bleed for it, and I just happened to be there. You punished me for someone else’s fuck-up."
I remember every second of it. Every pop, every snap. The sound my bones made is still louder in my head than your voice ever was.
You disgust me.

"Hey, have I met you before? It's almost like you're familiar... maybe I've dreamed of you once?"
