Hello. I've seen quite a view on the server. Not sure how to put it, but this whole image creates a big confusion in my head. This is supposed to be a serious HL2RP server, yet some unexplainable things get added. The best example - The genovese family having their own section in the scoreboard. Let me get this straight - it's a player made group , most likely oriented in anti-civil behaviour and etc. Why would it get a different part from the scoreboard? Are they any different from any other citizens? Or are they self-destroying their ''hidden crime mob'' by revealing themselves to the whole server? ''Look at me mom, I'm a gangster!'' You better watchout because they've got the scoreboard to back up their claims!
Is this like opening up the menu in DarkRP and seeing scoreboard full of Gun dealers, Crips and Bloods members, Drug Dealers etc? The server should get a grip of itself, clearly the staff and management don't know what the goal of this server is - seriousRP or just DarkRp themed on HL2 universe. Let's start making the scoreboard full of random groups of people then. The loyalists, the 69 Bikers Gang, The 2nd Platoon of The Sewer Company, The BlueSuits, The Rogue CPS :devilish: , The Smugglers and so on... Anyways, I hope you get my point.

People should be discovering these things IC imo. It's a bit weird if we're able to see someones affiliation OOC.

I agree, groups shouldn't be announced on scoreboards. Only actual existing factions should.
They should heavily rely on announcements ICly and through the forums.

I've noticed this as well. I'm not sure if this is coded in or something, but I see no reason for it to happen. I'll start popping people back into citizen when I get on.

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere on here that it was intentional.

Can't find the post now though.

It's an option for groups, they can enable or disable it. I'd recommend everyone disables it and forgets that you can do it, by and large.

Yeah- this sort of thing doesnt do well at all for first impression, combine that with our skill system and people are going to be led to not understanding whats going on.

The point of it was that players could in a sense make their own faction, instead of having factions like CWU hardcoded.. and yeah there is an option to disable it, and it should be disabled by default, if it is not then that is, yes, an issue in my opinion @Atle.

I think it might be better as sort of "subfactions", showing on the leaderboard in the citizen faction yet having a "Duchy of Styx" label next to you, for example.

If you know the character ICly (they've f3'd you), you'll see their group on the scoreboard IF they've enabled it from the group admin setting. Default it's set to off and won't show if they've not f3'd you.

Perhaps following Adams suggestion and then a character based option in the character menu to turn off showing your group if someone recognizes you would work better to avoid the harsh and conclusive “this is darkrp, you don’t know what the point of your own code is” accusation?
