(Title intentionally similar to another rather negative thread) I've really been enjoying my time here on this server. So, my question for you guys to answer according to your own opinion: What do you like most about the server and Universe? What aspects of Willard are especially well made or most fun for you? I'll gladly start off, to get the discussion going.

I don't have a lot of experience to compare Willard to other HL2RP servers, but every day that I've joined, there seems to be some event going on, the city seems to be ever moving and there's visible change everyday. The overarching story concept is quite creative. I think that's very different to other servers, especially since the events are reactive and dependent on player input.

Another thing is getting to know other people. Harsh events, which were rarely seen on the servers I played on, facilitate roleplay with new people, on other servers I have found it hard to get to know people. However curfews, the recent raid on the warehouse or the decontamination event are all things that group strangers together and allow bonds to form with new people. Adding onto that, the passive roleplay (CPs joking around with one another or talking to citizens when noone is looking, citizens helping one another out like they would in a dystopia etc.(always within reason of course) ) has been so much fun, allowing me to immerse myself much more than on other servers.

So, now it's your turn: Which aspects of Willard do you like most?

Upswing! Upswing! Upswing!

Moral of the story, never take the pop during a major event as the average population of your server. This thread ended up being more pointless than the one it was trying to mock.

events bad part 69, and i already know the solution.
join us next time when in order to solve low population, the staff team create another event! surely this will solve day-to-day issues affecting the population, and won't make the problem worse as people get used to only playing for events

I think the steady decline over the past few days may actually be because of the event? Unless that's what you guys were already saying.

The lack of available resources is really harming the server imo. Little to no rations, infrequent / incredibly long work cycles, prices for everything doubled. I've seen 2 ration cycles in my time on the server so far, one was an admin suicide bomber event and the second only let T3 loyalists in. If the only way for me to have a steady supply of food is by being a rebel and doing scav run BMD rp that takes away player agency.

I think a better way to handle a lack of food event would have been to still have daily rations, but remove all food options from the stores. That way it would have brought everyone together and not let my characters starving to death bc I've ran out of credits.

The event is specifically designed to play like it is, so it's not very much the event as it was very well received. However there are other pressing concerns that's not specifically related to the event, that I believe is the more fundamental core aspects of City RP producing negative environs. Much of the playerbase population was reacting to it with continual mini-events and a stable RP and I've kept a physical log for an entire week's worth of playtime in the Dark Event's page. So I'm heavily arguing it's not the event as it is purely designed to ensure a functionalist player agency and facilitate RP with a grimmer environment - to which was one of the highest playtime demands from previous threads, discussions and overall primary consensus.

Arguably the event line cannot properly continue if there isn't a playerbase to support it. The maximum time to not starve is placed at the top of eight full hours, and people have stockpiled enough to last if need be. Mathematically so. They're also financially stable through continual payouts in the plethora of methods the server produced. It ain't perfect, but it worked.

I can't get on server to lead it, instances came up in a flurry of real life deviance so I'm sorry for any delays, Short Stories is starting up again and folks want more than just City RP. But I am in semi-agreement that if you guys think that the event's statistical side of food and water ticks are harmful to your playtime and entertainment besides being a threat to your character, I can and will consult with CT. Again though, I'll stand by the previous points made that the event successfully revitalised player numbers and attention spanning, but other pressing issues need to be looked into first.

I appreciate your feedback by the way, it is helpful to me.

it was never supposed to mock a thread or someone. I just couldn't understand the doomer attitude of some people. If you read the text below the rather provocative title, I was just talking about aspects which I appreciated about the server, that made me want to keep playing :)

I used to rule the world
Bans would rise when I gave the word
Now in Landis gaming I moderate alone
Sweep chat channels I don’t even own
I used to /roll the dice
Feel the fear in roleplayer’s eyes
Listened as the players would spam
Now the old CM is dead long live the CM
