I don't know if this may help but it has helped me join servers when my Garry's mod mucked up but trying switching to x86-64 in properties(Betas)

1.Just right click on Garry's mod and click properties
2.Than go to betas and select X86-64

Makes sure to play in x64 bit gmod not x32 which is the default. x32 is rubbish and can't handle too much data. Basically, the overflow error is saying that your game is gaining more data than it is set to handle. One could say that x32 is just old and outdated. Make sure to switch to x64 gmod.
