Born in the Summer of 91' Hyde was the only son of two Blue Collar workers Jack and Dorothy, he spent most of his time in the small city of Sierra Vista outdoors and was a rather unremarkable kid at school apart from his interest in American Football.... Or just "Football" to him as Football is inherently American! As well as his time in the "Boy Scouts of America" which he joined mainly to find others that were interested in the great outdoors. Unfortunately, like with many. Childhood never lasts, and when the Resonance Cascade happened in 2001 when he was merely 10, his outdoor activities were becoming more and more risky as the portal storms brought more and more threats to Sierra Vista and the infestation from the Genesis pit appeared. Soldiers became a more common sight in the town as the United States Governments Hazardous Environment Combat Unit was deployed to contain the infestation. Things were looking up as for a while, the infestation was contained and it looked like that against all odds, life might return to normal one day. That hope was smashed in 2004, at the age 13. The skies opened up once more and legions upon legions of an unknown organized forced descended upon humanity. Hope turned to despair after only a mere few hours some fuckwit in a suit decided he spoke for all of humanity and gave us up to our invaders on a silver platter. Separated from Family, De-Loused, Treated like an animal in a pen as he was given the Tag that would become his CID. An animal in a farm, waiting to be processed. Years would pass and the combine would locate him to a den of scum and villainy. Seattle, also known as City 21. However the Infestation proved more of a threat then the combine, day by day the air getting worse with spores, more and more forces deployed to contain the outbreak. Less and Less citizens by the week, by the day, by the hour, by the minute. Until there was no one left to scream. Hyde was forced to fall back on his Boy Scout experience trapping small critters as Ration supplies were cut permanently and build crude purification devices that could filter the water to provide spore-free water for himself. No matter what happened, he promised himself he would survive. The Combine relocated who remained, less then 0.8 percent of the original population of the city to City 70. City 70 was even more of a Den then 21 was, due to his skills in Water Purification he made a home there in the unsavory parts of the Chemists and Clinics in the undercity until he saw those soldiers again. Except, not quite. These were different, not just a single unit it was comprised of people from many different walks of life. They called themselves, the Patriots and eventually ended up among their ranks Johnathan spent the following years training and scouting with the Patriots, keeping an eye on city 70 as he developed the frontier skills that had been fostered in him with his teachings in the boy scouts, and developing them into something akin to a proper trained skill. Pathfinding, intelligence, planning, survival. Not a front line combatant as he learned to live by the phrase "Information is Ammunition" Eventually, his luck ran out. While not wearing any uniform, or carrying anything illegal on him he was caught in a sweep and relocated from the troubled zone. Away from his fellow Countrymen, Patriots and trusted comrades he had to start afresh in City 24. He kept most of this secret, Feigning he had no firearms training, feigning he had no knowledge of anything as he scoped out what the situation was before he committed to it. A ruse, that has held to this day. |
