(i'm aware that someone already asked for the AA to be a perm faction, but i'd appreciate reading this before immeadiately denying. And i already started work on this beforehand, not gonna let this go to waste)
Hello all, so recently. the conscriptors have been added to wilards, and so far it's been really good, albeits a bit halfbaked and disorganised. but despite that i see a lot of potential in the conscriptors, so much potential that i've made this suggestion thread (with a few others, who will be credited don't you worry) now, let's get started
What should the fate of the AA be?
Well in my eyes i think it's quite simple, conscriptors should remain as a permanent faction. Now before you go into the comment to make your counter arguments, i implore you to continue on reading, as there will be a section adressing the counter points, criticism and doubts later on. i believe the conscriptors should be a permanent faction after the city 2 event, with the remaining members would be the surviving volunteers., the ones who chose to fight and potentially give there lives to the combine. as for the penal members, they should not be permitted to stay in the conscriptors, since they were forced to fight. althought i think they shouldn't be excluded from the faction entirely, it doesn't depend on the crime they committed. but after a while, if they manage to raise there social credits and be on their best behaviour, they should be given an opportunity to rejoin into the faction.
Alright then, but what would the AA even do?
Well, the main idea and the simpliest way to put it is, Conscripts are sent in when it is considered "Overkill" to send in the OTA. these Examples of what the conscript will be allow to do will make more sense this way, not only that conscripts are giving much more dangerous jobs as they are seen as disposable. without further Ado, here are the proposals.
Sewer sweeps
Now i know this sounds bad, as this is OTAS job, but let's think about it, let's say for example, there is an infestation in the sewers. would you A. send in your fucking power armoured super soldiers to deliver divine justice, or would you send in your private milita to deal with it? what i'm trying to say is that when ever there is an infestation in the sewers, the conscripts could be sent in instead as they are much more disposable. this does come with problems, but it will be adressed later
Additional Protection.
the conscriptors are pretty much a reserve unit, and so are not often used. but when they are they could be used in ways such as providing additional protection to the CA whenever he/she is doing a speech. and perhaps store owners could request some units to protect their store. they could also pay/rent the units, but perhaps it depends on the store owner and what tier they are (i also like the idea of protecting supply chains, but A. maybe OTA would be better suited for it. and B. I'd think the devs would actually have to put some work in and code some sort of supply chains, which i don't knwo if they're willing to do)
JW front line
(this idea is more half baked)When socio-stablization is at critical or fractured. Conscripts could be sent in to assess the situation and see if there's any anti citizen activity. if they get attacked by rebels, they can radio in for OTA reinforcements, as this happens they can either retreat or hold the front line until OTA shows up. i think this would be more interesting as the average rebel stands no chance against OTA, but they can fight and even kill conscriptors, and take loot from their dead body. this gives rebels and incentive to fight instead of just hidign for the entire JW
Complaints/Criticsms and doubts of AA becoming a perm faction
Wouldn't this negatively effect rebels?
i think quite the contrary. i think this would be an indirect buff for rebels. sure, the conscripts will be decently armed, but they can also take the same amount of punishment and pain as a regular human, albeit with some protection, if you and your rebel buddies tried to ambush OTA when they were sweeping the sewers, you'd get utterly annihiliated . but if you ambushed the conscripts. you'd have a fighting chance. hell you may even be able to defeat them and take their loot. this also goes into my second complaint
What about OTA?
While you could argue that the conscripts would be taking away the sewer sweeps from OTA. that's not really the case, conscripts would only be senrt into the sewers to deal with high level infestation (and perhaps gather resources for the combine? not sure about this idea) when it comes to anti citizen activity, JW or a freed biotic, OTA will still deal with it themselves. conscripts would (potentally) draw out more rebels since they could get ambushed in the slums i mean the AA is pretty much a watered down and less threating OTA.
Why should the UU trust AA down in the sewers? couldn't they easily escape and become rebels?
i think this is a very good point, mainly because they're right. conscripts could easily run away into the sewers with their weapons., meet up with some rebels and cause a JW. for one. despite them still being free thinking humans that are affected by fearrp, the volunteers are willingly given their services to the combine. they're pretty much armed and trained loyalists, so they would have some SMALL amount of trust. but not enough to leave them unchecked. that's why we need either some sort of squad leader that can manage and check on everyone with the radios provided to the conscripts. either that or some sort of tracker or killswitch, maybe all of the above?
Isn't C24 one of the biggest and stable cities in the world? why would they need additional protection
I gotta admit my arguments here are more flimsy, but let's think about like this, a human is much larger thans rats and have much more cells, but because of this, they have more chances of things going wrong, like cancer. makes sense? so conscripts can be used to help fight the hidden cancer of C24, with the JW front line, recent;y there was a battle between OTA and Rebels, and the rebels won. this could be a reason for why Conscripts are needed. and with a big city needs lots of supplies, Conscripts could help maintain this (although you could argue OTA are more deserving of this role, but it depends on what they're bringing in)
Won't another faction fuck up the citizen/faction ratio?
well i mean not really, At the end of the day conscripts are still citizens, loyalists but still citizens, so whenever there off duties they'll still abide by citizen law, althought they'd probably receive some leeway when it comes to crime or searches, and some discounts here and there
a lot of the stuff mentioned here could take a lot of time to implement or develop
This is true, i gotta be honest a few things i said here are far fetched (like supply lines, i think that would take a while or be unnessacary) i think i speak for the conscripts when i say i think that we're perfectly fine with a barebones version of it and have it eventually be fleshed out
Conclusion
I believe that the conscripts deserve a second chance. getting rid of a group of armed loyalist is just a waste. there's so much potential in the group and they can add some variety to the UU factions. but let me know if you agree or not in the comments below, i'd like to hear more criticsms or ideas
