It's almost Christmas.
You've avoided the evacuation orders - against all instructions otherwise.
Your television cut off an hour ago. The radios have been playing the same emergency broadcast ever since.
The nearby town of Torrington is in chaos. Whatever they had there is up in flames.
The town isn't safe. Whoever or whatever you heard about over the radio is there. And plenty of them.
Best keep it down while they're distracted.
Make it until dawn.

Saturday - October 4th, 2025.
Time TBD

The Vagrant

Leonard "Leo" Dubois
"The Cowardly Lion"

Six Years Ago, Leonard lost the last living family he had when his youngest brother overdosed. Franklin was a rock to Leo, and with that anchoring point in his life now gone, Leo found his comforts in the bottom of a bottle. Who he used to be and the life he used to live no longer important to the man he is now. A drunkard. A coward. A loser who can't do anything right, let alone 'save' his brother. Leonard is a sad and pathetic man... that's all he's known as amongst the townsfolk- or at least that's all he sees himself as. The degrees he claims to have had in the past seen as nothing more than figments of his drunken ramblings. Any pieces of evidence he has to the man he used to be just assumed to be stolen trinkets from some other sad drunk. "I used to be someone" he says as he chugs down another bottle of "home" made moonshine- "People used to listen to what I say" he says as everyone passes him by on the street.

It's true, Leonard Dubois used to be someone. But now, no one even recognizes him... for better, or for worse. Now, Leonard is no one... even to himself. Just a drunk on the street, drinking his way to the grave.

(Character 1)

The Detainee

Aaron Clawton

"The lucky bastard"

Few years ago, Aaron was a murderer wanted by the entire Police Force that has ever heard of him. A local deputy caught him few days ago and planned to make Aaron face justice. Unfortunately, due to the recent outbreak he is now rather facing survival with the Deputy that had detained him that very day. He does not have any relatives that would look with a smile at him anymore. He is alone and he is not okay, He is insane whenever he gets the chance to be insane. The Deputy was lucky but also unlucky to catch Aaron. Lucky to catch a wanted murderer, Unlucky due to the Deputy now rather forced to have Aaron with him ever since he had placed him in handcuffs.

Aaron has called himself a 'Lucky bastard' for not being able to face justice in time. He loves to annoy the Deputy that has to watch over him to this day.

Oday Tillman
"Justice Maker"

Three months he had been on a run

For three months he tried his best to evade the law and order that failed him and his only family remaining on this god fucking forsaken country and planet.

All of his efforts of evading, car jacking, mugging people to buy himself a meal.

All of that to end up being arrested in a unknown town, while trying to buy himself some painkillers for a headache.

Now he sits cuffed in back of this police car, while Town's Sheriff and his punk ass Deputy are dealing with something nearby.

Maybe they have good TV reception at their police station? It would be nice to know what story this time, media has made up about his crime.

So many variations and none of them are right..

He can still remember it clear as day.

Texas, San Antonio his hometown..That alleyway near that old pharmacy ..pretty sure it was just a storefront for some drug den.

That fucker Rapahel on the ground, holding his hand out begging him to not cap his fucking dirty ass..

Funny how a man who acted like he ruled the entire motherfucking world, who had his piece of scumbag cousin in the force, "misplaced" the evidence before the court hearing.

A man who smiled and laughed at him when the court said "Not Guilty", fully knowing what he did to his daughter ..

That same motherfucker now on the ground begging him with tears in his eyes and piss stained pants to not pull the trigger..

When the thought came on how his daughter must have looked like that night..pleading to be let go..

Did you know that Browning Hi Power .40 S&W can only hold up to 10 rounds?

That is what Oday found out that night, when he noticed that his gun was empty and Rapahel's body had new 10 holes in it.

His only regret?

That he didn't brought a gun with more bullets in the magazine.

Anyhow no use thinking about that.

That Sheriff guy looked eager to make use of his baton, need to play it cool and wait for them to come back.

...

What that a gunshot?

The Deputy

Cierra McCarthy

A lingering resentment of old

Nothing tastes the same. It had already been five years since she had got back to the States from the war-torn country of whose decimation she had willingly participated in. Not even the pills she had gotten her hands on helped to drown the memory, not even the strong liquor helped her sleep... she had played with death, mixing the both in hopes of not waking back up from the nightmare she had experienced. In her mind, the memory looped back and forth. She had seen shit... and participated in it.

Counter-insurgency they called it... officially... still now she remembers how the teeths were plucked; eyes stabbed... the genitals plugged into the car batteries and hooks... and nails pulled out of the fingers of those who came into the basement now functioning as a makeshift interrogatio- torture... chamber in the former capital of the dictator. The locals knew, but what could they do? We were the liberators....

The worst of it all was the children ...

She took another of the pills... Clonazepam.. she had already had three. She drowned it with the bottle before she laid herself down onto the couch... she'd slur; feeling how the benzos mixed together with the strong alcohol into a poison in her body... the heavy dose enough to sedate a horse. Enough to cause a human to sleep, even stop breathing... she hadn't sleep for days. The voices of the children still singing in her head. She looked at the pistol next to her, a 9mm round in the chamber ready for lift off.

She'd doze of to sleep, like always after her shift... her free time, and sometimes her work-hours belonging to the substitue that erased the lingering resentment of old.

She had barely slept three hours before her alarm rang... still in stupor from the alcohol and the pills. This wasn't her first time... nor would it be her last. Her blood was always intoxicated; even her colleagues knew. But what could they do? Everyone who came back from there wasn't the same... none of them. And she was a God-fearing Christian, plagued by problems like so many others. Civil life didn't work for veterans like her, she needed the gun... the adrenaline. But now it was the pills and sometimes the bottle... the pills had the upper-hand.

A few hours later, her mind still numbed by the pills; her breathe reeking of the bottle... she didn't mind. She represented the values of the Land of the Free; the land of the damaged and those left-behind.

A detainee from Texas... just another simple pass in the line of duty. She refrained from taking a sip from the bottle she always kept in her pocket. She wanted to keep whatever was left of her focus sharp. The Sheriff wouldn't mind, he was the same as her... just another war, another generation. He understood... folks would call it corruption, but that was none of it here. Just broken souls and hearts.

The numbing of the pills still in effect as she turned the key to the ignition, the motor bursting to life...

Just another day... and soon, she'd be back home again - with the memories..

Caleb - 21

Caleb grew up under the strict hand of his father’s faith, but always questioned the rules he was told to follow. Before the world fell apart, he spent his nights sneaking out of the farmhouse to drink with friends in town, chasing the kind of freedom he couldn’t find at home. When the outbreak began, Caleb was the one who first saw the fires on the horizon, his old hangouts now nothing but smoke and ash. He’s torn between resentment toward his father’s control and the guilt of knowing that, deep down, he still wants to believe his family’s faith means something in this chaos.

The Park Ranger
"Slacker Phil"

Phil McMayhill

*Snoring is heard. A lonely ranger at the station and seated at the desk, newspaper over his face*

**PING! ... PING! ... PING!**

"Huh - What?"
He rubs his eyes. The newspaper falls to the floor. "The hell -- This damn thing!" Slamming the CAD shut. The system is flooding with service calls to local law enforcement, especially in the nearby town. He mumbles to himself as he lights up a cigar, its orange embers lighting up his face; he kicks his legs up on the desk. A lukewarm coffee from 7/11, already forgotten about. *Flick!* The TV comes to life... Catching up on the next episode of 'The Sopranos', I see... Sleeping on the job... Bored... Nothing to do... He snatches the keys off the wall and heads into the armory, grabbing a rifle. "Time to hit the road," he thinks to himself. He set the rifle inside the patrol car and plugged in his CAD laptop—coffee as his partner.
Ranger Truck.png

The patrol car struggles to crank over... only enough budget to keep the government cars barely running. No A/C. No heater. Do my lights even work? ... It's a good thing I got this warm jacket...
1759280565655.png

Finding a nice, cozy, and quiet spot. He sits idly on the side of the road, tapping the LIDAR machine on his dashboard, turning up the country radio.

"Man, where the fuck is everybody?" He mumbles to himself, waiting for any car to pass by for a quick traffic stop—a solution to his boredom—a ticket to keep the brass happy.

"Note to self, 7/11 coffee sucks." He grins, sipping away at his bland cup of coffee. What a long night. God, I hate this fucking job.

Flicking back and forth between the radio channels, he catches some details of the broadcast about the local outbreak. He shrugs it off,
"It'll be over before the end of the week." He sighs and boots up his computer. No calls in his area... great... radio is awfully quiet too...

Sniffling, he flicks the latch of his holster up and down. Playing with his gun and then checking the bullets in his magazines. Anything to pass the time.

"Lincoln 1-22 to control, any pending calls in the area?" He keys into his radio...

Nothing...

"Lincoln 1-22 to control, do you copy?"

Nothing...

Rolling his eyes, "Damn dispatch--not paying any god damn attention as usual."

CHK! CHK! CHK! -- The patrol car barely comes to life once again. Time to find a new spot... A lonely patrol of the National Park. Clueless, even careless of what is going on. It's just another dull and cold night in the woods.

"Maybe this coffee will keep me up until sunrise?"

The Hunter's Son
There are terrible sights out in the woods, you know. The politely ignored. Things a normal person doesn't want to consider, because nature's a lovely retreat from the chaos of the modern world.

But that's part-and-parcel of being a hunter, isn't it? Looking at the wild of the world, taking it in... and occasionally taking a part of it with you. At least, that's what his Dad's told him. He hasn't seen much of that for himself- but, hey! Out in the calm, snowy woods; warmed up by the fire, enjoying some good eating, and...

Well...

Wer- weren't we supposed to have been picked up by now?

Isn't the exact map, town and premise as Begotten Crossed? I swear I've seen this exact paragraph and map screenshot before down to the town being called Torrington lol, pretty sure this is plagiarism.

So since the map is called Torrington... that means I'm plagiarizing an event? An event that's probably 8 years old by now... rrright. If you'd like be cross reference whatever material you've got - by all means.
