-BACKSTORY-

Born in South Vietnam during the Vietnam war, Tôn saw little fighting and was only 13 when Saigon fell. Although it already taught him an important lesson that you can convince your enemy it is not worth it to fight economically.
Life was not much better after the North took over. The government had biographies on all residents of the South. Those who fought or whose family members fought in service with the Vietcong or PAVN would be placed into the “good” category while those with ties directly or family relatives to the South Vietnamese government or military would be placed into the “bad” category. His father being an ARVN Sergeant got Tôn placed into the “bad” category heavily limiting his access to higher education or employment. Despite this he eventually landed himself the job of a truck driver. One of the North's most destructive policies was that farmers could no longer profit from their exports. All food they did not need themselves to survive would be handed to the government for free. And party recognition on an individual level was difficult to achieve. This lack of competitiveness simply meant the farmers grew enough food for themselves but not anyone else. Throughout the 80s these policies were gradually pulled back and the country was on the upswing again eventually having the US trade sanctions lifted. Things were improving until the Black Mesa incident.

Vietnam was no different to the rest of the world during the Portal storms. Despite all this Tôn carried on his job making sure things get to where they are needed.

When the combine came. Tôn was with his truck. Near an army checkpoint on the outskirts of Da Nang. Nearby ZSU-23-4 Shilka batteries kept him and several other men unfortunate enough to be there at the time covered for a while. The enemy forces were so overwhelming that the gun barrels began to overheat. With this, some unknown commander ordered a retreat into the jungle. Tôn and several other truckers present ditched their trucks and went with the troops to the jungle where they hid for 2 days.

As they were moving at night 2 days after the seven hour war ended. They came across a crashed gunship wreck. One of the soldiers, curious about the strange vehicle, touched it. In shock for everyone present who did not yet understand the combine very well the gunship woke up and although disabled and unable to do anything beyond scream in pain. The soldiers reacted by shooting it non-stop for a solid 30 seconds until it stopped screaming. This experience as it was processed through years taucht Tôn what future the combine had in store for humanity. The Gunships BSL most likely alerted nearby patrols to their position. And shortly after an MI-8 of their own shoved and started dropping illumination flares all around the group as they were running away. The helicopter equipped with speakers told the group about the surrender and that they were to surrender by direct orders of president Trần Đức Lương. The group chose to comply knowing the alternative would be dead and surprised that the aliens offered them the option of surrender at all. The group showed themselves to the MI-8 which landed nearby and upon closer inspection the VPAF roundel on the tail was hastily painted over. From the helicopter soldiers who look exactly like their own with the exception of the symbols being removed and replaced with an armband disembarked and took the men into captivity. Tôn as a civilian truck driver was quickly separated from the troops after and eventually released back into the populace. Relocated time and time again Tôn came to understand what the combine was. And when he was relocated to City 24 which was much more rebellious then the previous cities he was in he eventually through unknown means joined up and now fights against the combine. Believes to recreate the experience of the past by rather then destroying the combine simply hurting them to the point where they decide the planet is no longer worth it and leave. Besides, they aren't alone in this fight. There must be other worlds that fight a direct or guerrilla war against the combine even though the combine will never admit it right ?
-RELATIONSHIPS-

LOVES ADMIRES RESPECTS BEST FRIEND FRIEND ACQUAINTANCE DISTRUSTS DISLIKES HATES DECEASED
Rice-One of us. I have yet to see much of you but you are a good friend of Pathfinder. I hope you got the message. If he Scraver is still up and about tell others about him. He cannot be trusted.

Cicada-Poor kid lost the defenders advantage and charged the enemy through a hallway. Rest in peace.

Émille-My supply lieutenant and right hand man, keep up the good work.

Bobby-I have fought with you and you are a skilled fighter, you're skills with explosives helped us brake the siege and it is most likely thank to that we are still alive.

Boba-One of Junos men haven't seen you in a while hope you are doing well.

Konrad-Another one of us who fought in I17 and unlike some of us it didn't brake you, good riddance.

Beanie-You were the first one who i led to death. I will never forget that.

Tiffany-What's you're problem ? You were reckless and greedy and managed to whine over the radio for a good 15 minutes. You're sacrifice in the fight against the combine is appreciated nonetheless.

Paladin-As you're battle buddy in that fight i feel some shame to not have watched you're back. Soldier got you on the retreat i appreciate you holding them back letting us retreat

Morales-You treat this like you are some Mafia Godfather. Why are you ordering me to fire on unarmed civilians ?

Dooley-You were cheerfully simple to deal with and you knew how to do the right thing. Rest in piece.

Taco-Although you're skills in combat may have been impressive you're personality was not. I17 Broke you. For every amazing thing you did there were 3 fuckups. You were willing to stand up for what you felt was right although you didn't know how to convey it or the right time. Thank you for you're efforts nonetheless.

Wolfrimite-Litle i knew about you although you were the main translator between me and Scraver i hope you weren't like him and didn't want Scraver to do what he did.

Ponzo-You came to respect me quickly after i did such menial things for you. I appreciate it you were good while you were around.

Boris-You fought over a suit and when that didn't work it you stirred up a ruckus to divide us even further. There was not a single redeeming thing i can say you did.

Hans-You called us for help then barely gave us any direction on what to do. Many of us were killed and you simple kept working from you're main base you didn't tell anyone about and barely set up any sort of link with you're subordinates.

Pathfinder-You were yet another one of Brokers subordinates. You think you are better then everyone while simultaneously are not able to ever do anything with you're influence and let me tell you. When we saved a mans life you and you came to inspect him you just spit in our face and claimed you could have done a better job. Fucking i don't know why weren't you there then we were were treating him WHY THE FUCK ARENT YOU ON THE RADIO. Afterwards you carried him on you're back and just told you're volunteer escort to fuck off despite not being able to run anywhere or shoot while having a man on you're back. There was a time when i would have blindly obeyed you're every command. You gave us the plan on the last second without telling anyone prior about it. When we managed to destroy the facility you simple ordered radio silence and abandoned us to defend ourselves against the incoming assault in the sweep. When we were done you acted like nothing happened and you very well may have known nothing at all. Even then i heard it wasn't even the right facility and that you supposedly knew as well but attacked it anyway. At least you're assault got the job done.

Scraver-You are the worst piece of shit i ever met. I give you a home, i give you a gun. I give you a frequency full of friends to call on. In return you are unable to be honest with me and when i connect the dots and call you out on you're revenge bombing bullshit for Kaz and Wolf you simply dodge the question. Promptly leave and 20 minutes later i get greeted by a CPs SPAS-12. Wherever im going after this. I hope you come with me i have some unfinished business with you.
