- BACKSTORY -

Nothing much needs to be said about this woman's past. She was born into an average family, and lived an average life, which she was content with, and so were her parents. Like many others before and after she strived to acquire an education to provide for her future family, and for herself, as well as contribute to her country's wellbeing. During this time, she had discovered her affinity for all things engineering. Be it mechanical, electronic, and even chemical, she found herself engrossed in it. Experimenting from early on, making makeshift batteries and otherwise, she quickly found herself advancing in school, striving for the ultimate goal of acquiring an engineering degree.

At 19, she finally enrolled into a university, and she did not stand out among the students, as they were all in pursuit of their own fields. Not that she saw it as a competition. These people had their lives and she had hers, so the focus was on her own success. And at around 25 years old, her education had concluded, acquiring degrees in engineering related to mechanical, electronical development, as well as chemistry. Having set her sights on this goal, it wasn't long before she acquired a position in her field, and simply worked there, until she decided to retire early, feeling a lack of dedication to her work. It only took a year for her to retire. Evidently her heart was in it. But she didn't have much of a chance to look for work again.

On that fateful year, 2001, the sky suddenly began to fill with mighty storms of green, eminating death with their presence, and a wide array of strange, and never before seen creatures appearing. Her analytical mind did not allow her to gasp and gawk, and she immediately sought refuge in the countryside, like others. However, when the invasion was quelled by another, like many others, she was found, and came willingly to become a part of the ever-rotating workforce, transferred from city to city. But it is in these cities that her altruistic and charitable personality began to form. She knew she could do more, and she had to.

- PRESENT STORY -

The Arrival

"How long have I been gone for? I lost count, cause it all blends together in my head, but the last time I saw most of my friends, my comrades, was four fucking months ago. Four months. That's how much I let them down, how much I wasn't there for them with my help. How long did I have to wander? The days melt together, like a big stew of fucking random thoughts. But I had to push on. When I got routed from you all, the only thought in my mind was getting back to all of you. I followed every lead I could, every place I could check, I went. Met some people along the way...they never said their names, but I held a mutual respect for them, because we were all looking for something. One way or another."

"They were good people. I don't know what happened with all of them, only some. But I guess that's the problem with not knowing eachother's names. It's hard to remember eachother, but, if we remember what we did for eachother all that time, that's enough. It took a long time. A lot of planning, and a lot of sacrifice, but these people helped me get to where I needed to go, and I can't thank them enough for it. I only hope that they're alive and well, wherever they are now.

But it cost me. A lot. The gear I spent all this time building and making with the effort of my friends and comrades, I had to sell it all, just to get to the last step of the journey - City 17, the industrial district. But if you ask me, I'd sell it ten times over for something like this. Much work is ahead of me, but I'm glad to be back. I was tired of wandering."

"Been gone long enough."

The Departure

"It's been alright, meeting some of the people I've known back then...but, a part of me wishes I hadn't found out. Living with the memory of some of my friends still living was what kept me going when I was trying to find them. Now that I found them, and found out some of them are not among the living anymore, well..it stings. It stings to find that out. Rachel, Cole..honestly, it hurts. But I haven't lived through all that just to hug my knees and cry. They're gone, but I'm not, and I'll keep going. I have to.

Where do I go from here though? Apart from the obvious answer, that being back to 24, I don't know. Honestly, I don't know. It's been a wild ride. When I come back, I don't know who will recognize me, and who won't. But seeing how long I've been gone, they'll certainly be asking questions. It'll be smart for me to lay low for a bit until everything pans out."

"Return and desolation."

"Well...things haven't gotten better. The people who I knew in the past, I don't know where they are anymore. The current resistance seems to be hellbent on making everything worse and worse. I can only hope I can continue to do what I can to do the right thing...but it may be time to hibernate soon."

Juno

"I don't know what fate had befallen her, and why she was taken away, but it's clear to me now that whatever did happen was final. My head feels heavy even thinking about this and my hands shake with rage, but we both know that will not change anything. I'll miss you. Wherever you are, keep fighting, and never loosen your grip. I won't loosen mine, to honor you."

Morales?

"I met you a fair couple of times as of late. I must say I respect your ability to remain undetected by civil protection, since it seems they are on your ass as of late. Lets see if I can help your situation be just a little bit better.
You've been gone a while. Was wondering on occasion where you went and what you're doing. Then I found a letter. Not addressed to me, but some others. So...you're gone? Left? Can't say that I blame you. With all the things that have happened since, I struggle to find a reason to stay here, too. Hope you're doing well, wherever you are."

Cole

"I wish I got the chance to talk to you again, and I regret being gone for as long as I did. Maybe, just maybe, I could have done something about it. But rest assured, what you did will never be forgotten. The food you've provided, the shelter you've given. An irreplaceable token of kindness and a hallmark of the collective good humanity is capable of."

Pathfinder

"Glad to see you still kicking after all this time. And from the looks of things, you've done quite well for yourself. Although, I could expect nothing less."

Eric

"I can only say that I'm very pleased to see that you had not at all changed from the past. Still the same, great person as you always were. At least to me. In any case, you saved my sorry skin once, and I owe you for that. I had no doubts I can trust you, and I now will never have any."

Mabre
"I've heard of you being here along with the others. Not surprised, to be honest. A woman like you can survive in this world, for however long is possible."

Xih'lach

"The first vortigaunt friend I've made. The first one to give a gift to me. (It was drugs, but still, a gift from a vortigaunt means a lot.) I can only hope that if you are still in city 24, you are being treated well."

D'Angelo

"A gentle, artistic soul. The world needed someone like you. Lets hope that wherever you are right now, you're still sharing your creativity with everyone."

Rachel

"It's a shame you didn't get the help you needed. I don't know what pushed you over the edge, but I hope you're resting easy now."

Ponzo

"I'm not quite sure why you thought that holding me at gunpoint was a good idea. Especially the reason you did so being that you wanted to punch me, and this little shindig cost me 500 chips under duress. As such, I can't really trust you to fight alongside me. You're a fool, and you're shackled by your ego. Until you curb your self-importance, I can't see myself ever being friends with you."

"To be fully honest, I don't know what to think of you as of yet. I've never held a fondness for sanctimonious types of people, but I've never judged them, so I will not judge you for it, either. But I get the distinct feeling something is troubling you, something more internal than it might appear. Not related to your faith, not related to your scars. This sacrilegious personality of yours, I feel like it isn't actually you. But, I'm not one to pass judgement, I'd be a hypocrite.

I can only hope your scars will heal, and your wounds will not bleed too deep."

"Solar"

"Another one of the vortigaunts I've had the pleasure to meet, and perhaps befriend, if Solar sees it fit. I've already sworn to attempt to make vortigaunts' lives within the city as bearable as possible, and this is the first time in a while I've had a chance to do something in that regard. But, Solar is a bit of a special case. Because he didn't need my help that much, in fact, he may have not needed it at all, because he, unlike his kin that I've met thus far, was free. A refreshing sight to see after all this time. And on top of it all, he was associated with an individual I've heard of on several occasions now - The "Gypsy", or "Gus", so my respect for him is increased purely from that, coupled with the fact he seems to know how to speak Italian, and I'm very much eager to have such a friend. May he thrive."

Leah

"I'll be fully honest and say I really don't know what to think of you. To say that we got off on the wrong foot would be one hell of an understatement, but I still feel like I don't really want to associate with you. Maybe you'll prove me wrong in time."

"Well, I meet you again, and you're a tier 4. You look somewhat remorseful at what happened between us...but I'll be keeping an eye on you. From a distance."

Sophie

"Eric's friend. Perhaps I can say that she's even my friend. She has shown herself to be reliable and a good person to confide in, even if I hadn't done that particularly. Nonetheless, Eric trusts her, so I can trust her, too. Plus, she's a BMD, so that alone is reason enough to trust her. I respect her position, also. Not involving herself in direct combat. That's smart. You'll live longer like that."

Spades/Hannah

"Met you properly a bit ago, and I don't see a reason not to trust you. Considering Red trusts you. Outside of that, you seem like a genuinely good woman, and I like to see that. Lets see if we can work together more in future. I'll try to not be absent as much anymore."

'Hank'

"Haven't seen or heard much of you, but I know for sure you were a fighter. Sad to see your name on that memorial board. It really is. I can only hope you went out fighting, rather than being thrown to the pit like some others. Rest easy."

'59'

"It's not just the fact that you keep calling me by my real name as if we're buddy-buddy, but the risk that it could put me in. Seems like you don't really know what kind of shit-creek you're paddling upstream towards. Make no mistake, I will fucking kill you if you get in my way."

'Wildcard'

"Had a chance to meet you when I came into contact with Jun. Immediately you stuck out amongst the others. You're not the same as them, you have something in mind, a plan even. The Resistance

"My comrades. My friends...most of the time. Some know how to use their heads. Some need a knock on their noggins to get them working. And some don't know how to use them no matter what push you give. But like many others, over time, they can mold themselves into whoever they see fit, and reap the consequences of the changes they commit to.

Except..it's hard to say that now. All I can say instead now is : what the actual fuck is wrong with some of you? Bombing RDT? Flooding the streets with headcrabs? Are you trying to kill CPs or civilians? Every day I feel tempted to split away from you fucking morons."

The Combine

"Much blood of my friends has been shed by your hands. I can only hope to return the favor. A cavelcade of brutal tyrants."

Civil Protection

"The ones who covet power, the ones whom are oppressed, the ones whom are loyal to the tyrants. Those who enjoy the taste of blood meet a bitter end, those whom are forced to join due to the pressure of being under their heel taste blood all the same, but unlike the others, they may hold a shred of guilt or regret. It's not all black and white, I fully know that. I've seen a bit of their side of the story when I was out on the road, so I can only feel neutral about you. The hate and pity blend together. But rest assured I will not hesitate to gun you down if you threaten our cause."

The Citizens

"I only wish some of us would stop ruining your lives. You deserve to live as you please. We strive for freedom but it shouldn't be at your detriment. I'll try to change that."

The Workers (CMU, CWU)

"Not much to be said about you, other than that I respect what you do for the city and those living in it. Sometimes you get in our way, but you are an important part of making the city life tolerable. I just wish some of you would respect those that work for you, because you were once there yourself. Some of you hold an arrogance that is wildly misplaced."

The Vortigaunts

"I've met my fair share of vortigaunts. Not a single one thus far has given me reason to distrust them or doubt them. Capable, intelligent, the most loyal friends you can ever have."

All my chars are the only ones that aren't your friends LOL
