The 6'6"+ Vortigaunt thing is getting quite tiresome. It doesn't make them more alien, looks ridiculous and has no effect on roleplay (at least most of the time). Frankly, it feels like we're just making bigger vorts because the character creator allows for it.

For reference, the actual height of Vortigaunts in HL2 is ~5'11"
(which means that they're shorter than Father Grigori)

The suggestion is simple. Vortigaunts are around the height of humans in the game, so just make them follow the same height limits as the human characters do (5'2" to 6'2"). Everything higher can be achieved through an app.

I know everyone will just default to 6'2" instead, but at least it won't be 6'11".

but... it's alien vs predator

Muchly agreed. Back in the day, every male 09 loyalist was 6ft6. It only makes sense.

this kinda seems like a non-issue, when does their height ever come into RP or conversation?

Honestly this height thing is just a remnant of Vortigaunts having to 'be better at everything' than humans. It really should go. Its far from canon anyway and honestly is silly.

Its a big reason characters act like they are physical powerhouses. Height implies size.

Basically never, thus making the oversizing completely pointless and just a way to seem more special than everyone else.

All the more reason to ground it down to human levels. If we got rid of dwarfs and 6'6" citizens, there's no reason why the same can't be done to Vortigaunts.

Vortigaunts were never meant to be above 6'0. In both games they appear to be either 5'8-6'0. Alien Grunts were larger by around 6'4 -6'8 due to the fact they were manufactured and were superior to the vortigaunts in terms of strength and status.

Unsure how their home planet was, but on Xen, they were not strangers to tight areas and small working spaces. Thus when they were 'birthed/summoned' in xen, they would've appeared smaller. The only exception would be elders, but [my vort lore is rusty] its unsure how long they were actually on xen for to my understanding.

So no, vortigaunts being 6'11 to 7'0 is far to tall, and I'm pretty sure the combine would just put them in batteries at that point, or just kill them.

yeaahhh no. Vorts in Willard lore have at least a bit of variety. If we want shortigaunts, we also want only green, red eyed aliens. Lets not do this.

Every vort being a giant is not variety, and, in fact, serves to actively stiffen it. With everybody being as tall as an industrial fridge, it makes what should be a unique trait (towering over normal people) the norm. Because of this, I remember being unironically surprised at seeing a 5'8" Vortigaunt on the plaza. That should really not be the case.

Besides, human chars have no problem dealing with the 5'2" to 6'2" limit. They still manage to be plenty original. I don't see why the same can't apply to Vortigaunts. Do you really need to be taller than everyone else to make an impression?

This was discussed and even approved numerous times in the past. Not sure why this keeps happening, with Vort height continually creeping upward whenever someone looks away.

Does all of this really matter? This is like saying, "my breen water can't be red, it does not exist in lore!". Either way, yes or no, this won't change anything.

Does to me and a few other people. So, yes.
I really can't imagine why this would peeve you so much, its not like this is some ground breaking change. These are ALIENS from a different climate, there really is no reason for them to compare to a human in any way
