Biographical Information:

Pre/Post BMI:

Marvin Eckles was born to a working family, his father an IT specialist, his mother a receptionist. He spent the vast majority of his childhood like any other, performing the usual collection of necessities such as school and chores, for the most part utterly unremarkable. His almost unnaturally boring life was interrupted by the beginning of the Black Mesa Incident in 2001. During the chaotic three years in which humanity found itself under siege from attackers from another world, he and his family would evacuate their suburban home and head to the nearest city, as were government instructions at the time. This would lead to him and his family seeking refuge in Augusta, Maine. For 3 long years he and his parents would weather the portal storms in what little safety the government could provide, the two doing their best to avoid exposing their child to the horrors of the situation unfolding around them. As such his experience with the outside world, including its newest inhabitants, were severely limited at the time.

7HW and immediate aftermath:

The dull living situation Marvin and his parents found themselves in would be abruptly dashed by the arrival of the Combine. During the brief military exchange Marvin would once again be sheltered from the worst, scarcely seeing the Combine's mighty synths tearing through what feeble resistance his home planet would muster. By the time the dust had settled, and the Combine had acquired its newest territory, Marvin was wholly unaware that he was now a citizen of what can only be described as an alien empire. The following weeks to months would be a chaotic cluster of poorly kept memories, the sheer speed of which made them nearly impossible to remember. What was known, is that for one reason or another, Marvin would find himself separated from his parents, the ones who had tried so hard to keep him safe. However, due to what can only be described as a clerical error, Marvin was spared the indoctrination of the ECHELON facilities, being left to develop on his own in a world he hardly understood.

Combine Occupation (2004-2017):

For the next 13 years, Marvin would be transferred from city to city, slowly growing to understand the way the new world worked. He would avoid unnecessary encounters if he could, sparing him the wrath of overzealous Civil Protection and the slim chances of encountering those who would resist this new order. This active attempt to avoid interactions caused this period to again be one of relative mundanity, with Marvin only being one in the countless sea of unaffiliated citizens just trying to survive under the oppressive boot of the Combine.

First CWU Tenure (2017-Mid 2018):

This period of drifting aimlessly would finally end with his transfer for District 47 in 2017, for no other reason than wanting to do something different, the newly transferred Marvin would ask around the district attempting to find work of any kind. This would result in him being picked up by the CWU, beginning the newest phase in his life. These few months of work would lead to Marvin becoming a regular worker in the district 47 CWU roster, during which he would undertake the first of what would later become a regular occurrence, the handling of Xenian infestation. The cleansing of the D47 Scourge would prove to be a calling of sorts, officially starting Marvin's placement as an Infestation Control worker, a role which he would grow to appreciate over time. After the transfer from district 47 to district 43, Marvin would further cement himself in the CWU, taking part in a variety of different tasks ranging from construction, repair, and the ever-present job of handling infestation. His ability to handle such incidents lead to him being granted the role of "Infestation Specialist", along with a special permission to conduct so called "Infestation Patrols", during which he would scour the area clad in his hazmat suit, searching for and removing any alien life that had slipped through the cracks in the city. After several months of working in district 43, Marvin would be transferred from city to city once again, this time not simply living, but working on handling infestations around the planet.

Layoff, Break, Re-Entry (Mid 2018-Present)

After returning from what he would come to refer to as an "infestation tour", Marvin would arrive back at City 24. However, in a coincidence similar to that which had spared him from ECHELON, a data issue would again arise, causing him to effectively lose everything. His Job, his Social Credits, even his tier. Marvin was left jobless with nothing to do. Despite this however, he took it as a break of sorts, spending the following months living life as he had before he joined the CWU. After this break period had finished, coinciding with the mass transfer of district 43's population to district 9, he would once again go to rejoin the CWU. Now an apprentice in the CWU, Marvin looks to regain his former position, climb back up the social ladder, and continue doing what he does best, handling infestations.

Citizens

The masses! Varies alot depending on the person, but generally they're nice enough. Can't really think of much else to say though.

CWU/DOB/CLC/CMU

Workers, like me! Good people all around, hard workers, willing to talk, nice to be around. Occasional hiccups now and again, but we all tend to make mistakes, don't we? I'd gladly let any of these guys watch my back, because I know they'd watch mine. Made a lot of good friends from these guys, hoping to make more. Also, those uniforms are snazzy.

CCA

Haven't ever really seen them, heard they're really important though.

Civil Protection

If mixed bag was an organization, I think they'd fit the bill. Can't seem to find any level of consistency on them, one day they'll be willing to chat, the other they'll threaten to hit you with a stunstick. They've saved me on more than one occasion, so I owe them that much, and the bad apples can't really spoil the dozen, can they? When they're willing to talk they're really nice, most of the time.

OTA

Have barely seen them, most of the time when I'm put into dangerous situations it was CP's protecting me. I swear they weren't as common before, they're popping up alot more. Guess thing's got more dangerous, must not have been paying attention. Not much for conversation I've noticed.

Anticitizens

I don't know what their problem is. I mean yeah, things could probably be better, but robbing and shooting people isn't the way to change that, is it? I just wish they'd leave us alone. I've had my fair share of bad experiences with them, nothing as bad as what others have said though.

Vortigaunts

Pretty cool guys, whenever I see them. Always wondered a bunch about them, haven't thought to ask. Don't get why so many people seem to hate them, I'd ask, but it's just asking for an argument, and I'm never a fan of those.

Xen Life

I know these guys pretty much are the main purpose of my job, but still, I hate them, most of the time. Whether it's monsters that turn you into zombies, giant squid things that shoot acid, killer tentacles, or giant mouths in the ceiling, it's like every single thing that comes from that place wants to kill people. Atleast I can help get rid of them, or atleast keep them from hurting more people.

(Ask to be added!)

Cadance Wattmuff

Pretty much the only person from back then who's still around it seems. Never thought she'd be an inspector now, but in retrospect I guess it makes sense, she always did do alot of paperwork. Nice to talk to, especially to reminisce on old times, but talking about the presents always fun aswell. I think the two of us agree on working being something that's worth doing, though I do think she's a little extreme at times. True, she did fire me after that data issue, but that's all water under the bridge, as far as I'm concerned. Also gave me a cool jacket, even if it was taken the next day. Generally, pretty nice person!

Hansjörg Ambrosius

Cadance's coworker, another inspector. If she's willing to work with him, so am I. Seems to be a nice enough guy, from what little I've seen.

Ron Goodfella

Amazing guy, what's not to like? He's nice, caring, and wears a snazzy suit to match! Granted I don't know a ton about him, but what I do know is all positive.

Ozbourne Trevino

A fellow worker! Seems nice enough, we've already been through our fair share of dangerous scenario's, surprising considering we've only worked together for a week or two. Hope to get to know him a bit more, if we're gonna be working together in the future.

Ferdinando

One of the newest people I’ve met, a fellow apprentice, atleast for a while. Had a fair bit of chats with him, and we’ve been through a couple work shifts together, fun guy, knows a lot. Seems he’s gotten his own job, haven’t asked much about it though. Should get on that when I have time. We both like food, so there’s one thing we have in common…wish he had a shorter name though.

Arthur Eastgate

Another worker, haven't worked as much with him as Oz, but we've been together a few times. Can't really say much at the moment, barely know anything about the guy. Really gotta talk more.

Warren Goodwin

Another coworker, again, haven't spent as much time with him as the others, but still, from what I have seen, really nice guy! Recently saw he was in some kind of accident, atleast I think it was him, he had so many bandages... Hope he's alright, noone deserves that sorta stuff.

Nicholas Carter
I get I pretty much have to respect the guy since he's my boss, but I already respect him genuinely. He helped me get back into the CWU after that whole data mess, was kind enough to set me up with an interview and everything. Even when I was an apprentice he always gave me pretty easy jobs that made the grind to Journeyman that much more bearable.

David Rodriguez (Death Unknown)
One of my best buds during my first tenure with the CWU, we talked a bunch and had a lot of fun together. Also did tons of workshifts. Met all the way back in 47 when we cleaned up the infestation there, really one of my first CWU friends I made, stuck with me through alot of bad stuff. We really did go through alot, headcrabs, zombies, gonomes, all sort of stuff, its a miracle we both made it out of that stuff alive. Last I saw him he was fired by Wattmuff for.....something, never found out what. Hope he's doing alright, I'd love to catch up with the guy, maybe have a snack.
