Mekong Delta Agri-Zone

Bird's Eye View of the Mekong Delta Agri-Zone
The Mekong Delta Agri-Zone serves as a highly important agricultural sector for the wider Combine empire on Earth. Portal storms have left the Chinense Huai River and its surrounding rich farmland in ruins. The U.S corn belt has turned into a wasteland. India turned into a hellhole by the Combine. The heartland of Russia and its soil have also been destroyed by portal storms, and other devastating events have caused many of Earth’s greeny fields to be unfarmable for one reason or another. What leftover farmable land that remains on Earth is few, with the added bonus of also being threatened by invasions of Xenian fauna and creatures seeking suitable homes to infest like cancer.
Luckily for the Combine, the Mekong Delta (including the Cà Mau Peninsula, lower delta plains, and upper delta plains) seems to be largely untouched by the aforementioned issues. No portal storms, no accidents, and likewise, expect for the rising issue of Xenian invaders. The ideal conditions of the Mekong Delta, unmolested by chaos and harmful events, gather the attention of many Xenian “things” that wish to call such lush lands home. Unwilling to lose a vital agri-zone, the Combine regularly employs security and Xenian specialist teams to weed out any Xenian occupiers, ensuring the safety and continued production of foodstuffs. Another safety measure comes in the form of a massive water-filtration plant some ways upstream along the Mekong river to make sure that the water is clean and safe for agricultural usage.
There is a misconception by the general population outside the Mekong Delta Agri-Zone that thinks only rice is grown. In fact, the Mekong Delta Agri-Zone grows other types of crops like cassava, sugarcane, corn, sweet potatoes, and nuts, but rice is the largest crop planted in the zone. The Mekong Supply and Distribution Center (M-SDC), located at the end of the river delta, acts as the main and sole port for moving the vast amount of food produced in the agri-zone across Earth. The M-SDC also houses the permanent farm workers for the Agri-Zone in its own small sector south of the distribution center.

Much like its sister-site, the Red River Delta Agri-Zone serves the same important function and purpose. There are differences between the two agri-zones, if ever so slightly. The Red River Delta only grows three types of crops, rice, sugarcane, and cassava. Any form of Xenian threat appears to be largely unheard of in the Red River. No strange outgrown, no weird Xenian bugs, and whatnot. While that may be, the Combine actually has a much heavier volume of security and Xenian specialist teams present in the Red River due to close proximity to the Lair of the Dragon. The Red River Supply and Distribution Center (RR-SDC) acts as the main port for the moving of foodstuffs from the Red River Delta Agri-Zone to elsewhere on Earth. Like its sister-port, the M-SDC, the RR-SDC has a permanent housing area for the farm workers just west of the center.
