Steam Name: MisterMysteryMan
SteamID: STEAM_0:0:542320215
Name of the Admin you were banned by: Boots
How long is the ban for?: Permanent
The reason you were banned?: Section 4: Fail - RP Appendix 2.0: "Offensive Roleplay"
So, I suppose I should start off by admitting guilt and acknowledging that I have broken this rule, this was an act of negligence on my part as I briefly skimmed through the OTHER, older ruleset instead of the newly updated one, which is why I was initially confused on why I was banned as no roleplay I did came anything close to the older ruleset. I've contacted Boots about this to receive logs (He didn't respond, I assumed he was busy/sleeping) but now that I've seen the newer ruleset, logs are unnecessary since I already know I've breached this rule
So the question now is: Why did I use it?
From the logs provided, I believe universally, ALL of them are going to be from one Character, Donovan Francesco (I'm unsure if I said it on my newer Character, Manny Santiago; if I did, then I won't defend it, it was, wrong, and I shouldn't have used it). Donovan is an old Sicilian man from Brooklyn who grew up in a life of extreme (and sometimes absurd) mob violence and crime. One of the trademarks of an Italian gangster is their bigotry. Donovan is bigoted, homophobic and casually racist because I believed it added to his character, and I still do because I believed it was a realistic portrayal of an older, socially out-of-touch borderline Sociopath that is Francesco (Below are Clips from the Sopranos TV show, I used these as references/inspiration for the Character)
CLIP 1: (Racism):
CLIP 2: (Homophobia):
To a man like Donovan, being a homosexual was possibly the worst thing you COULD be, gangsters held onto their masculinity with an iron grip, it's why such things as cunnilingus become such a big deal for people in the mob life, being accused of a snitch was preferable to being accused of being gay.
In the logs that may or may not be provided, you'll probably see the abbreviated form of F*g rather than the whole word, why? I just believed that was more politically correct, but I still got across what I was going for (I also used Finook or Finocchin sometimes) and as for offensive roleplay, offensive to who exactly? In every example it was used, I received no push-back or complaints over my use of language because in the context of the character and what I was going for, it made sense to use such a strong, bigoted word as that.
Personally, I am a little disappointed to be permanently banned over something that could've been corrected with a "Hey, stop." or placing in a word filter if you do not wish people to use those slurs. That's all I really have to say. I've already admitted guilt and explained why I said it, so I see no reason to argue/push back on anyone's input. I've enjoyed my time on the server and tried to keep my nose clean, but if you wish to keep me banned, that's your prerogative and I won't hold it against anyone.
Thanks
