I believe food should have a hard-capped bonus that it can give in any one statistic. Such as a limit of three *at most*.

This is to give drugs a fairer playing field. I don't think drinking W.I Coffee and eating fish should give someone +5 agility and +5 intelligence.

You would expect a high-risk high-reward effect with drugs (which is the case, as your gameplay/eyesight is very wonky when you do take drugs). But the intended effect can be entirely avoided by eating fish. I know omega-3 is some superb healthy fat but come on!

[Edited part.]

I do also believe boosters pills should be *HEAVILY* reduced in favour of actual drug scripts.

A +5 on a D20 roll is basically legal powergaming. Eating a fish isn’t going to give you a noticeable increase to your strength but taking PCP might.

Agreed with OP.
The whole point of a stat boost, it's that it boosts your stats. Thats the benefit in high level cooking, you get really good food that boosts your stats really good.

The difference between the boosts you get drugs, and food is this: Drug boost last for less time, but take less time to go into effect, while food boost last for more, but take alot of time to go into effect.

I feel like food should increase the experience you get in skills, not a short-term boost which is what boosters and drugs are meant for.

^ Your point is also nullified when you can reset the duration of the effect by eating the food again, an example being loyalist rations.

it's not a short-term thing, a food boost can last for days, while a drug boost lasts for maybe an hour, I haven't check in a bit.

days are short term; i feel like this ONLY benefits combine factions, who have a reliable stream of resources that do give them insane stat boosts.

it automatically makes any rolls so biased that only nat 20s vs nat 1 could win

I remember there was a rumor back in the clockwork era of HL2 RP that Willard Coffee had a small chance to instantly kill you if you drank it.

We should add that

Whats the point of drugs then, willard networks NEEDS to promote drugs or it's just bloat code

yeah true, it's pointless if it doesn't have temporary benefits followed by major drawbacks!!!

It is like what was said above: less time till you GET the effect, as opposed to waiting up to an hour for your full benefit.

They also last an in-numerable amount of time longer, and they sustain if you keep eating the same food. Hence why I want drugs to be more impactful even at lower tiers.

My guy, this has been hammered over your head numerous times.

Food boosts take a lot longer to kick in, but last longer.

Drug boosts last shorter, but take shorter to kick in.

Nobody has the foresight to eat food at just the right time and high end food items cannot just be eaten and have the high boost be sustained ad nauseum. I would know, I had a character with 50 cooking, and it is ridiculously expensive materials wise to make some of the higher end food items, and it's not as big of a gamechanger as you think it is. Most of the meaningful fights happen with guns, where the only stat that matters is HP and Guns.

At the end of the day, even if you have +5 in strength, 9/10 you will die if you try to match up against someone with a proper weapon. No contest.

Not to mention the fact that there's an actual skill barrier to accessing the high end foods, not just necessarily something you can get with credits. And also, most people are T3 loyalists. T3 rations don't give you stat boosts, and all of the foods you can buy don't give you that much of an edge either.

I know.

I'm saying long-term boosts shouldn't give nearly the exact same amount of boost as drugs do.

Proper weapon doesn't matter if it's rolling.

If you roll with these buffs; the opponent is fucked.
