HISTORY
Initially starting as a smaller branch of republicanism during the Roman-Genevan war between 2016 - 2020, the movement began only truly developing after the decisive Roman defeat in 2019. Arceneaux's influence began spreading like wildfire throughout Sector 10, yet this did not go unopposed. Casto, although defeated, remained Arceneaux's arch-nemesis and ideological opponent. And even in death, he still commands a large degree of influence.
Arceneaux's opponents were executed for the most part. Yet those who managed to escape his grasp, were either too weak to retaliate, or simply vanished from the pages of history without leaving any significant mark. It was just outright impossible to execute all fringe elements within the Republican Guard. Such was the fate for the guard, to become filled with yes-men loyal only to the Parisian despot himself. Countless purges took place, leading to a favourable outcome for the republicans. The guard was lost. And so was the dream of reclaiming the once-flourishing metropole.
The group shifted its view outwards however...
And turned into a movement. What started with a delusional commissar obsessed with the republican ideals, now ended up as an ideological current. And while denying any assciation with futurism, it shares undeniably some of its characteristics. While it is devoid of its founding principles (religious aspects and nationalism), the manifesto is similar in certain regards with the added ideological fervour of a war against corruption. Villeroy styled himself as "The First Legionnaire", and advocates for the "Le Nouvel État" (The New State) defined by the following characteristics:
The movement remains to this day unrecognized. It is underrepresented, and the notion of legionarism remains largely unknown to anyone outside of the conscripted reserve's personnel. Time will tell whether legionarism will be forgotten by history like many others, or if it will have a place on the world's stage.
