It's the first impression he provides to many - hunched over a desk, staring into the abyss of a screensaver or delving into files with a near-primal hunger for knowledge. Michalis was delivered to his parents as an only child, a fact his colleagues of past used to joke contributed to his sometimes uncaring attitude. It's not that he doesn't think the emotions of patients have any worth, nor is it that he views them as anything other than human - it's instead merely a philosophy derived from his course proctor, proven through experience. Caring over treating, discovering, advancing; caring kills. It can be done later, once the dust is settled.
A pile of books frequently surrounds the dean, the scent of coffee and a whiff of smoke often accompanying. A dirty habit derived from the unification which he vows to kick someday, and yet can never find the time to ditch. A coy smile awarded infrequently is a lesser known companion to the sight. It may leave the observer with an impression of sophistication beyond the outer curtain of curtailed responses and absent-minded replies. Yet something darker lies deep within. Rumors circulate. Word spreads. It's a simple fact that will always follow Michalis. Impressions direct, but they can fade. Cuts only scar...

Michalis holds a double PhD in nephrology and anaesthesia, earning both from further studies conducted during his time at the McGill University in Montreal, Quebec in Canada. Originally studying to gain a medical license at the University of Oslo, he was seeking further training either to progress into a career of General Surgery or pre-hospital critical care prior to the unification. Ever interested by the potentials offered from experimentation through procedures such as vivisection, his classmates remembered him largely as unassuming and quiet, but with strong values during cross-debate which - though not inflexible - dictated his approach to conversations on topics related to the field.
He was born a single child to a father of Greek descent, who was a second generation immigrant to Norway, the nation of his mother. Despite the assumptions you might make of his character, he maintained an active and healthy relationship with them up to the time of unification - and indeed the separation thereafter affected him greatly.
Soon after the unification, he decided to continue his work as a medical professional sensing no other pathway forwards besides the abyss of unemployment and decadence. It is with an internal storm of conflict between amorality and curiosity that he finds himself arriving within the area of Courbevoie under the direction of his direktør. Admittedly bored, he hopes to find the chance for some progress of his own beyond the tasks assigned of him. If the NCZ provides the opportunity or not is yet to be ascertained.
This character is intended to serve as a foil to his own experiences of the server. Depending on major progressions, the character traits will change and evolve over time. I'll likely start a character bio to track this progression.
Michalis is envisioned to begin as a higher-tier collaborator who through his actions inside the server as a Dean of the CMRU will constantly try to weasel his way into the heart of governance, as a vessel to get to the heart of the Combine. All his efforts will focus on achieving excellence as a way to fulfil the Combine's aims; his motivations are a self-sustaining cycle. He is undoubtedly a loyalist to the system; but he is a loyalist because it suits him, in that it is his place of comfort. As a result he's a fundamental loyalist to the Combine's demands and ideals, but doesn't always buy into the policies introduced by local administrations.
This is represented principally in his distrust of sub-district-level (local) administrators, who he views as egocentric characters interested only in position as opposed to progress; this distrust can extend to those in the lower levels of collaborator tiers who don't continue to seek progression, as he views them as content with half-baked existences. This may introduce interesting avenues for debate and discourse over time. Depending on the nature of development, I may try to advance him into politics more actively, though this is all but guaranteed.
There is synchronicity between his interests and those of the Combine, and as the server progresses it remains to be seen if he will remain connected to his roots or if he will discard his humanity for the sake of progress.
