The reason you were banned?: Creation of multiple throwaway characters over the past few days to do little RP + mingey RP with / Creating an unauthorised Xen infection, with baby headcrabs coming out of her body, xen tentacles, etc.
Why do you wish to be unbanned?:
There are multiple issues to address here, so I’ll go with the first claim of multiple throwaway characters. That is not true. The only thing that is based off of is I made one character, Jon, who went to the beach and died by Overwatch. He only lived for like ten minutes but to say I made multiple characters that were throw away is not true. The *only* other time something like that happened was a few days ago, where one of my other new Resistance characters went to the beach and was caught by Metropolice. Instead of running, which I know would have killed me instantly, she acted clueless in an attempt to get the Combine to not kill her outright. That did not work and she died. But to say I made throwaway characters is not what I did.

In addition this also claims I was doing little RP + Mingey RP. I do not know what mingey RP is, that term is broad and anything can be labeled as mingey. But what I can say is the statement I did ‘little rp’ is not true in the slightest. Everything I did is for story telling, I mostly play Booker Brightfin, the Lambda sect leader of the Resistance (Leader per say, as the other members of Lambda never play) and I do non-stop roleplay that in no way is considered mingey or ‘little-rp’ by any means.

The one thing I’m confused about though is that I do not really have an answer to The Xen infection note on the ban. Today I was playing Patricija Slunjski, one of my new rebel characters. Yesterday we did a whole sequence of me being introduced to the resistance cell, and proving my worth to Pathfinder by me going up to the surface and raiding one of the CWU Warehouse’s AC Units. An admin oversaw the entire situation with me doing a plethora of roleplay trying to get this AC Unit to the Resistance, as their old one broke down. The GM oversaw as I did everything, brought the new AC Parts down to the sewer after scavenging the CWU’s AC Unit, and giving it to the other rebels (Pathfinder and I think Mabre). While I was delivering the new AC Units, I stayed in the sewers for too long. I built up a Xen Infection of around 70-90% (I do not know the exact amount, but my screen was so yellow I’d never been this infected before on any of my characters). So I got on today and wanted to do something with this infection, create a roleplay scenario for the CMU. So that’s what I did. I went to the CMU and rped me being infected by Spores and the Xen.

What I’m confused about is why this was included as a reason to ban me? I’m allowed to RP being infected, it’s all RP. I created a roleplay scenario that everyone seemed to enjoy and I was punished for it. If I turned into a Jeff-like monster (From HL:Alyx) and started attacking people, yeah I could see why I would need an auth for that, but nowhere in authorization guidelines does it say I cant RP being deadly infected by the Xen. All of this RP created something for people to enjoy. No other characters where at risk of being harmed, it was just me being infected by alien xen.
I was never told by the gamemasters that what I was doing was out of line, or to stop doing it.

I want to make clear that it is my duty as a player to listen to the admins rule. If they told me to do something such as avoiding this kind of RP, I would do it without a second thought and follow through with it. I was never given any communication how to proceed though, which I feel I should not be punished and my weeks of RPing taken away from me. I have so much story left on my characters for this event and to be blocked from doing that because I was not being communicated too properly does not seem fair on my part. I'd listen to them without a second thought, I would do anything to abide by their guidelines.

I’d like this ban to be written down as a warning instead, or at worst a 1 hour ban. I do not see any authorization guidelines that were broken, but if I did in the admins eyes (Via Rule 0) I’d like to apologize and we can void the whole Xen infection if the admins wish (Although I do not see any reason why to void it, in the end it's up to the admins. I'm going to listen to them on what they have to say).

I’d like to continue my RP on Booker Brightfin so we can get a conclusion to it, as he can only be played for this week until the event ends and it would be horrible if all my RP on him was for nothing and I could not conclude his story.

You then run straight to the Hydra island, and your character's first inclination is to eat the blue goo there, completely ignoring the gunship actively shooting her with pretty much zero fear.




There was also another incident I personally witnessed, where you intentionally walked on top of a mine. When it took half of your health, your response was to say "Ow." You then waited a bit and did an emote for being injured, but just returned to sprinting around the city.

I am not seeing any reason to disagree with Sif's judgement here, but if there's anything you'd like to say, go ahead.

This by far is the most pressing issue that resulted in the action the administration took, so I'll go over this in depth. The other issues you bring to the table are not as big or may not be an issue at all, but I will address them as well.

My character was highly infected with xen spores, as I explained in the above post. To become infected with such spores is to become one with the Xen, the spores entering your body and becoming one with you. While it can be cured over time, I wanted to create a scenario for the CMU to enjoy. The idea was that the spores grew into headcrabs and xen monsters, as thats what spores do they grow into things. I do not see the problem with roleplaying this out, nor did any admin ever say I could not roleplay this out. If they said to stop, I would have stopped and it would have been voided.
My intention was to create a roleplay scene for people to be a part of. I never had any hostile meaning, and to be punished for that seems really unfair. Especially since no admin came over to me and said I could not do it. I'm well aware of the authorization guidelines, and what I did from the paper I do not believe I broke.
This does not take away Rule 0. The end result of any roleplay scene had admin discretion. Which again if I was told this scene is a no go, I would have abided without question

This is not what happened. I showed plenty of fear RP, even the logs show that. I was screaming for help as the ship cornered me inside the hut when I found it shooting at me. The reason I did not run right off the bat was because CP's saw me at the beach. If I ran I would have just been chased down and killed by his SMG, so instead my character acted clueless in hopes of them sparing my life That's when I went to the island to hide'n chill (Which actually worked, they ignored me and let me wonder off), but thats when the ship showed up. Then all hell went loose when it started to shoot at me. I screamed for help, showing fear RP and such as per the logs you posted, but the Hydra's came out of the ground and killed me, the ship finishing me off. She died eating exotic jelly, better than being starved on Combine food before death.

Again, that is not what happened and key details are being left out. A rebel saved me and bandaged me, saving my life. I went away from where I fell after being healed, finding a place to hide on the beach and RPed heavily my injuries and my fear of death as the rain poured down upon me. A bunch of roleplay was had involving my injuries. Yeah, saying 'Ow' was kinda cliche but to say I just said Ow and did /actinjured is not what happened at all.


I'd like to re-iterate that if any admin actually communicated with me and told me what to stop, I would do it without a second thought. Rule 0 is always at play here and I feel like if that is the case why I am being punished it should be communicated with the player before punishments are being carried out. You guy's make the rules, and while I followed them it is up to me to also abide by admin discretion when Rule 0 comes into play as it did here. But how am I supposed to know something if no admin tells me what to do? I feel like if I was to be banned, I would have some sort of warning first of roleplay they did not see as fit but I was never told 'Hey, EBoost, could you roll back on that Xen Infection?' or something similar. Then if I continued after ignoring the admins warnings, then I would understand such a ban

I really want to continue playing here, I love this server and I will do anything the game masters tell me too. But just slapping a 1 week ban on me when I was not even communicated with seems cruel as hell, I cant even play the server for a week? I'd say that is a punishment for someone who mass RDM's, not someone who roleplayed a Xen Infection that did not pass admins quality inspection that I would have stopped instantly if admins told me to.

While I saw no issue with my RP, it's up to the admins in the end. I will abide by what they say and change my RP accordingly. I was not told to change anything about my RP, and to that I see that as unfair to just throw such a harsh punishment on.

Hi,

Headcrabs and snarks are not created by spores. They are not spore-based creatures. This was an asspull. The spores choke you to death, they do not make you start fermenting Xen fauna inside of you. We have set the precedent before that this is not acceptable roleplay.

In terms of your roleplay with the gunship, deciding to eat the goo even with the gunship firing at you is just not plausible at all. Not to mention that you made the character and immediately rushed to Shell Beach with them, using it as a throwaway character. They died within 10 minutea of being made. This is not the kind of behaviour that we want to see happening at all on the server.

Due to this, I am going to have to deny this appeal. Please consider more carefully what roleplay you choose to conduct on the server in future.
