Topic/subject: Name Changed for no reason.

Summary: I was told I can't have Rothschild, I attempted to ask why but was told I was playing a 'famous character' which is untrue, I'm playing an original character with the last name of Rothschild. I've seen plenty of famous actors last names being used but none of them had their names changed. Don't know why I was picked out from all the other familiar looking names.
In depth analysis of the issue: You can't have the name Rothschild, because it's a celebrity name?
Suggestion for improvement: Just change my name back. It's not that serious nor have I ever met anyone who was upset.

You were not playing a 'famous character', but you're using a well know and famous 'name' for your character. The reason for the change was due to that aspect. It's the same reason you cannot go walking around as 'Tommy Biden", who isn't real - but is easily associated with the current US President. Or "Joe Trump', who was another US President, as it is a similar issue there.

You yourself brought up the idea of 'Freeman' and 'Newell' weren't acceptable, but they are. But outside of a Video Game character and game dev, there are not many famous people or people as famous, like the Rothschilds with those names.

Additionally, it is just a name. You do not need a specific name to roleplay an uppity, rich snobbish char. Especially one associated with a family lineage running back multiple generations or the fact that they are well known throughout the real world.

Those names you listed are troll names/not serious names. My name isn't that. I understand if you see a name that's blatantly a reference to whoever but my name has no reference. People walk around with the last name Freeman but they aren't instantly told to change their name. If it's just a name, why is it so neccssary to change it completely and alter my character's origin story?

The name 'Freeman' is far more common than 'Rothschild'. I'm sure you can attest to that.


And it's like I said in the previous post I made. The Rothschild name is famous, being in multiple forms of power around the globe in real life. So, just seeing a 'Rothschild' in your day-to-day life isn't as common and much more impactful, than meeting Alek Freeman - A Softball Coach.

Not so much 'rare' names. But rather names that hold as much power as 'Rothschild'.

This just seems subjective man. Kennedy is a pretty well known, highly respected last name but will that be changed?

Kennedy, although can be drawn to President Kennedy, is still a name seen all around.

How many people named 'Rothschild' do you just know are strolling around?

Even outside of the connotations of the name Rothschild, you also had "III" added to your name, which is in itself a breach of our character naming rules. I think your intent was pretty clear here, and I see no reason to restore your previous name. I fully agree with Noh's decision.

I'm personally just wondering if the character is actually part of the Rothschild royal family. If so, it's probably fine to keep the name if a special character authorization is made.

Hi,

We do state quite clearly in the rules regarding famous characters and so on, being Rothschild III would make us assume that you're roleplaying with some connection to the family. Due to this, we do have to up-hold our rules and I hope you understand this. Of course, if you do feel like you want to keep the last name / continue roleplaying as this character, as it could be quite interesting; I do suggest making a character auth so we can see why this would be interesting to bring onboard.

Anyways, for now, we'll have to change the last name for the link to a famous character. If you want to request a specific last name, just mention it IG.
