After some research and looking at the problems other servers have I believe that with whatever map we use any rebel only area should be cut off and exclusively used for events. There would just be the CityRP which would be incredibly vibrant and draw in new players instantly as there will be RP of a massive variety of different RP, instead of just shops I definitely believe that people would be drawn to start community hubs in apartments where citizens congregate, different types of citizens RPing like barbers etc setting up because the opportunity is so limited people are forced to fill the city with RP that most of us have never experienced. Rebels would have a massive surface presence with more activities like vandalism, and firebombing. Rebel RP although wouldn't disappear with no place to circlejerk Rebels will be forced to hide in plain sight, there'd be no more having to buy gear and more connections through RP, rebels would set up in the few hidden bases (that's if there are any) or have to set up in some of the apartments with people watching out for CPs or loyalists. All around CitizenRP and RebelRP would become exceedingly good with both playing off each other, Rebel gear would be hidden as rebels have to still be part of society, it'd also mean that CPs have more to do than walk-in circles; sweeps, daily searches would be more common and rebels would have to adapt, I genuinely see no downsides to this. P.S CPs would patrol all the streets, no slums, rebels would work behind the shadows. I 100% think this should be implemented.

hello, i have a few criticisms and agreements with this good sir.

while i think that barring a lot of the underway going about the city would greatly enhance the presence of a real population, it is also limiting a great piece of area used for roleplay.

firebombing in the plaza? this is supposed to be one of the most prestigious bastions of control on earth, and i think that would really upset the theme of the city and end up doing a lot of damage.

for starters, rebels or malign individuals are already capable of setting up wherever they please, discretion is up to them. there will likely be a deterrence for underground use so it will not be commonplace; allow them to act in the shadows naturally.

this will probably occur naturally as there are people devoting time into making citizen rp the most engaging part of the server, i dont think there will be a massive influx on either side and it should end up well balanced.

I have a strong belief players will eventually flee to secluded places that avoid cityRP because of safety, by firebombing I meant some rebels will do small acts of rebellion instead of circlejerking like throwing a Molotov into a Union ran building, vandalism etc etc

While you may flee to secluded places to avoid cityRP, you can't really survive there for long as food will degrade overtime, forcing you to do surface missions or at least pay someone to do these things for you. Nevertheless , I am not too sure about it but I don't think we will give anyone a secret base, and the idea of the sub-levels of the city is to mainly house REFUGEES and people that have been treated badly by the system (people with low social credits score, etc); it's not meant to house rebels with blacksuits and AKs that circlejerk eachother in there to just end up being more authoritarian down there than the actual combine regime.

Also, Civil Protection won't sweep. If a sweep happens it will be done by the OTA and it will be probably a slaughter, most of the downstairs dudes probably ending up dead.

I think we might have a secondary server for outlands RP at one point, where you will probably see actual rebel bases and all that, but that still doesn't facilitate them free food or anything, they will need to go back or do some missions to get that food. They're still forced or pushed to have the incentive to actually go out and do something.

We also have a perk called 'smuggling' which allows you to hide items in your inventory, specifically for this type of work.

Although I am heavily fond of the idea of rebels not being segregated into their own part of the map, I do not believe it is a good idea to just arbitrarily restrict these parts of the map either.

If we want rebels to interact with citizens, then we must provide them with a reason to do so. Historically speaking, there has been very little reason for this - all the resistance needed from the citizen population was tokens to buy stuff. Which is why you usually just see BMD's coming to the surface occasionally to do some trades, cash in a profit and fuck off again.

With the skill system and planned dual currency that we have setup, this is going to be different. Credits as a currency are useless for the resistance, so making quick trades with citizens is not possible. The resistance will want to have shekels/chips/whatever their currency gets called. The only source of that is smuggling. Which in turn means you need items to smuggle... and outside of smuggling itself the only source for those items is the City.

I do hope that system encourages groups to setup a 'supply line' from the City to their base. Which means any group will either depend on a surface group or needs part of its members to be actively present on the surface to source items. Survival in sewers/rebel areas will also be hard, hence why I hope it will be more used to stash stuff rather than as a permanent living quarters.

I’ve learned that you can’t trust player to do the right thing and what benefits the server I think there needs to be a restricted area atleast at 1st of reason for the rebels to operate in the city until they establish themselves

If they go 'fuck this' they will just bleed dry of any money they have and starve. Food costs money and food doesn't keep forever (only some drinks do).

If one group has that attitude, fine. But in the end at least one group will need to be the middle man and bridge the City & resistance (and ideally more or you'll have a monopoly). Or the rebels just won't have any money for smuggling and no crafting materials to get said money...

Will chars die if they don’t eat n get a pk because I see how that would help

also is it city 24 we’re using

I think there should be a best of both worlds I’ve saw not having a rebel ‘area’ at all suggested and supported but not implemented. I think we should atleast test it because at the start of the server I doubt it’ll have much negative impact. What about not having a rebel area is trialled. The sewer area can be used by Union restoration as an infected area and over the course of the first two weeks the CRU can work their way through the sewer clearing it of fungus etc like is the way in alyx, if the restriction on the sewers goes well it can continue if not the CRU can eradicate the sewer of infectious material and allow the rebels to form there

also, the sewer on the map we're using looks like a brazillian favela or something. It's not the kind of place CRU would stay.

I agree with not having a rebel area, but there's not really any alternative. The only half decent map I've ever seen that has a mixed civil/rebel area instead of a rebel only area is City 18 Updated

and, people won't like it. people will not like being forced to stay in the city if we don't use a map that facilitates it

If people live in the sewers, they're gonna need a plan. Otherwise they'll likely die from starvation or a sweep.
The server is made in a way that promotes surface rebels. You need to have a steady source of food and water to survive, and you can't stock up on much. OTA will be coming to the sewers, and you can't bullshit your way out with S2RP here like you can on other servers. You live in the sewers without a plan, and you're dead.

my stance on a lot of things is: Make it difficult, not impossible.

please tell me the hunger and thirst isn’t going to be a meter please tell me it’s effects on ur character

Honestly.
I'm up to give rebels the freedom of being able to roam, and live wherever they want.

comes to a bit of a fuckfest when someone gets busted.
they cant go sewers or surface, cause in time they're gonna die. fast or slow

More importantly, if everyone's massively against cutting off the sewers of the map only leaving surface rebels it's still a serious concern that the size of the map that people will be underground for the most part, if there's a sewer area for the rebels I'd still highly suggest at least half of the sewer is still inaccessible leaving as much space as is in c24 is dangerous
