blocking off large areas of the map to concentrate city RP. People don't like being restricted that much

again, make it difficult but not impossible
I was just saying the sewer in c24 specifically is way to big, there's needless areas that can be caved-in or infected etc etc if we're set on not blocking off the sewers

there's things to force people out of the sewers, so they wont be used nearly as much as you think

I guess we can hope I just don’t trust people to not just hoard food and go circlejerk

People will not like having an area of the map blocked off entirely. It’ll be seen as combine biased (which it sort of is). City 24’s sewers will prove to be dangerous when food stocks run out and OTA begin to sweep more often. Make it difficult, not impossible. A large majority of the community will heavily disagree with having no slums and no sewers. If we had a map that was built around this concept (such as city 18 Updated, which is my second favourite HL2RP map) it‘d be different. But City 24 isn’t built around that. It’s got a large labyrinth underground, it’s made for sewer and slums rebels. But if you try to live there without a well thought out plan, you will die. Food is necessary, and OTA sweeps will end with anyone found being executed

I'd fill it 90% with gas and add some areas for surface rebels to go undercover in
The problem with gas is that it creates a barrier 2 ways... random citizens cannot get in, but rebels need a suit to get out as well. Which means they need the means to hide said suit on the surface or risk being caught with contraband.

Perhaps need to consider a low-damage gas rather than the system used everywhere else. So it doesn't deal any/enough damage if you run through it, but prevents you from staying in it for long periods of time without PPE's.

Maybe have it trigger the same overlay as having no glasses gives you. Use a gas mask, or get blurred vision. Keep half the sewer how it usually is, and half gassed off

See this idea is pretty mixed. But if you read our policies/guidelines... and it is bit late for me to respond... we do not believe in restricting map access. We heavily believe that map restrictions via props or anything like random rubble blockages, etc is not in our best interest. This can harm RP and how some people may want to play.

Using gas, NPCs or other clearable things which players themselves can clear or get past without GM assistance is always much better. As it is not restricted per see, but does require some IC methods to get past without having to go "ADMIN TO ME, NEED TO GET PAST BIG BLOCK. I RP'ED IT!!!", would rather prefer if players can get past themselves. Now the CRU/Infestation is a thing so there is that too, gas is not yet implemented as far as I am aware though I do believe it is or was a planned feature and then your generic threats of the undead as well as other nasty creatures exist as well.

SO rather than blocking the sewers, I would rather make the sewers dangerous. Much easier to handle and does not require GM assistance.

Going to leave it open for people to keep commenting. Not really accepted or denied yet, pretty mixed as stated above.

Moving this to Denied.

Going to use more IC methods of "blocking" via the means of gas and creating dangers like infestation, zombies, barnacles and the like. Possibly other methods as well as we think of them. But directly blocking the underground off? Probs not gonna happen.
