Character backstory:

Born in the 90s, Imre was supposed to be a “child of change”, barely younger than the new Hungarian republic he was born in, his generation was supposed to bring a change for the better, build a better tomorrow for his children to inherit. His parents, democratic activists, just as millions of others other families looked to the future with hope. That hope would soon be shattered with the arrival of a new occupier, a new enslaver...

Imre is, and always was, an opportunist. Someone willing to do the “bad” in order to get the “good” for himself. No surprise that joining Civil Protection wasn’t a hard choice for him, to the dismay of his own family of course. Same family who spent years fighting for freedom of their own people not too long ago now had to watch as their own blood-kin works with the new tyrants. The lure of perks and benefits, of safety for himself and his relatives worked quite well on his already, somewhat, brainwashed mind, joining up made sense to him.

Short (or detailed) character backstory:

The character, whose name was Tommy Ram, was born in the year 2002 in the city of Helsinki, where he spent his childhood in a criminal family. He did not want to be involved in the criminal activities, but he got the habit of remaining quiet.

He was just sixteen when a rival gang kidnapped him, held for ransom in a storage container located just outside the city boundaries. But before he could be held hostage for more than two days in the dark, the Resonance Cascade kicked in, spewing foreign life forms from the portals that were torn open. From the confusion, Tommy managed to escape, shoeless and scared.

But this was just the beginning of his ordeal. The Combine soon followed, taking Tommy as a prisoner in the early waves of attacks in Finland. He lost all possibility of personal identity as he was renamed Citizen Tommy Ram. First, he was sent to City 52 to start his first day.

When Tommy Ram arrived in the city, he struggled to adjust. The rations dulled his memories, and the propaganda slowly took hold, turning him into a loyalist who worked tirelessly for loyalist points. After an incident in City 52, he was transferred to City 62, where he eventually climbed his way into Civil Protection as an RCT.

On his first day, he patrolled the assigned sectors before being sent with his PT into the slums to track a BOL suspect. The team was ambushed, and Tommy barely escaped. Instead of fleeing, he circled back and found his teammate and Rank Leader captured by rebels. Moments before the execution, he managed to flank the rebels, knock them out, and free his team.

For his actions, Tommy was promoted to i5 and then to i4. Everything seemed to be going well until the dark arrived.

A native Ukrainian born in Donbass, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic four years before the August Coup and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Born into a prominent family belonging to the high echelon of the Communist Party; her father a functionary within the Party whilst her mother was a dedicated Marxist-Leninist and member of the Antifascist Committee of Soviet Women. The dissolution of the Socialist state not only saw the end of an era before the portal storms, but also the decline of the family's prominence after the de-sovietization of Ukraine.

Falling down the social hierarchy, the father took to drinking whilst the mother lamented the old times. For young Julia, it wasn't the poor conditions that was the issue - but her father. Despite being a bright and shrewd youngsters with a promising future and on the outside what seemed like an ordinary family fallen on hard times. The social Ostracism experienced by the family due to their previous ties to the Communist Party led them to become outcasts in their own country.

It started when she was eight years old. The belt wasn't the worse, she could take the beating; not even the awful breathe excruded by her father's mouth with the smell of alcohol. The worst was the darkness-... tossed into the cramped space of the shed on the backyard; locked inside with a padlock. The complete darkness and the cold is something she will never forget..

Growing up with trauma, she eventually met the love of her life, Dmitryi - an engineer. This tale wouldn't last forever as the world was turned up-side down with the Seven Hours War. Separated due to the relocations, it had been eight years since she last saw him. Life in Occupation wasn't easy-... but it was better than the darkness. That is to say-... before her relocation. Formerly a Tier-3 Citizen, a debacle during a workshift saw her status being revoked and re-located to City Sixty-Two.

The life at the bottom was hard-... but she had endured hardships before... that is-... before the darkness came back.
