Dr. Brian C. Hargreaves
“Duty and decorum, above all else.”
Section I: The Out of Character
Character Purpose:
"Orderly, decorous and brings old-world values to an otherwise depraved society."
and
"Pompous, arrogant and egregiously self-inflated. He's everything wrong with the upper class!"
Inspired by various fictional works and real-world attitudes in medicine, Dr. Hargreaves is a product of when the clinical hierarchy exacerbates egotistical aristocracy. This character is pre-determined to be a Dean of Medicine within the CMRU, therefore, will hold a level of authority within the union. From my own observations in clinical practice, there are clinician outliers befitting the temperament of this proposed character, of which, serves to introduce an interesting and engaging dynamic between; the senior leadership of the CMRU, intra-unionist affairs, and those who wish to join the medical service. Whilst some may take a benevolent route of leadership, Hargreaves is a man of authority and regulation in the face of clinical excellence, supported by his unrivalled tenure in Critical Care Medicine. Whilst profession on the surface, challenges attempted against his ego may unearth a less amicable gentleman. Hargreaves is designed to be a polarizing character; loved by those whom he holds account to be a valuable asset in his upper echelon of high society, and loathed by those whom he deems lesser than worthy of his formalities. A gentleman amongst gentleman, bringing old-world values of aristocracy, in addition to snobbish behaviour amongst the lower class. My rationale behind this character is to break the mould of the 'niceness' trap so many (including myself) fall into.
How would Collaborator Status for my Character Benefit Roleplay?:
“I ask you what greater endeavour exists, than that of collaboration.”
In my opinion, I believe that Collaborator Status for Hargreaves would supplement this style of roleplay. Having previously achieved distinction within the CMRU and holding the position of Dean, I would see it likely that Hargreaves would be recognised for his service to the Union and sustaining the workforce. I also believe that by holding this higher societal position, it would contribute to the inflated ego befitting of Hargreaves' personality traits, further adding to the dynamic roleplay scenarios expected in higher society and introducing bonds, rivalries and competition amongst the Collaborator collective.

Hello, I'm Ocean Man. I've been a part of the community for quite some time now, predominantly playing loyalist roles, of which, residing in the previous iteration of the Civil Medical Union. I have played numerous characters over the years and have enjoyed seeing the progression of each from their highs to their falls. I am also part of the event team and frequently produce passive events, as well as assisting with larger projects (free time allowing) Outside of the community, I am (just about) a healthcare practitioner with degree-level knowledge in medicine and clinical practice, and have previously enjoyed embarking my knowledge within the Union to enhance roleplay interactions for those who can sit through my /me's (in hopes to end the infamous "/me bandages patient").
Section II: The In-Character
Character Description:
A distinguished South African man stands before you, his posture indicating an air of self-asserted authority. A clean-pressed white shirt affixed with an ironed black tie, un-crinkled black trousers and brown boots, stained by flecks of blood and industrial cleaning agents underpinned by an immaculate white clinical overcoat. A man notably aged by precarious years, his withered face describes many years of hardship, crows feet down the corners of his faded moss-green eyes positioned below a wrinkled forehead. A notably unkempt beard dons the man’s face, a five o’clock shadow covers his neck and cheeks, reaching up towards his silvered receding comb over carelessly slicked back towards the back of his head. An expressionless face, wrinkled lip and furrowed brows emit an air of unfamiliarity even amongst his most esteemed colleagues. The Caucasian man had significantly sun-kissed skin, owed in much part to the South African sun, further exacerbating his wrinkled and withering appearance. His voice was hoarse, sharp, and unforgiving, his accent thick with South African undertones and mannerisms. The man would often emit an aroma of cheap-smelling deodorants, tobacco smoke, his breath afflicted with a mixture of coffee and cigarette tar.
Bringing an air of regality and decorum, Hargreaves brings an old-world aristocratic demeanour amongst his peers. A soft-spoken, upper class speech accompanied by pronounced ‘Queen’s English’ vocabulary, one would mistake Hargreaves as affluent amongst a time of societal repression. Onlookers would describe the man as courteous, gentlemanly, and suited to the finer tastes of Union life. Despite an outward appearance of nobility, a challenge of ego may expose a more sinister, apathetic underline of Hargreaves’ character as the façade drops. His loyality on the surface appear to align with Unionist Goals, however, true motivations for power may reveal to less selfless.

These elements of personality traits I have decided to withhold as of present, I believe that this will add depth for character development as Hargreaves progresses through his story as a 'set-in-stone' directive has yet to be established.
The Rise and Fall:
"This too shall pass."
All things must come to and end, and this character is no different. Whether it be the slow pull of a degenerative disease, a horrific accident, or the plotted downfall of a once-trusted colleague, this character will eventually die. I believe that prolonging natural progression (including character death) can make roleplay stale, hence, this character is not designed to live forever.
