It is player-ran except when although you think it is, sometimes it seems like one ending was already choosen from the beginning.
It's also player-ran in the sense it was the individual players themselves that decided to continue. Sometimes it's also because the player wasn't paying attention or just didn't see it and the other player perceived it as a negative.

Still being run by the players even if it seems like there was no way for either party to control it at the end of it all. The course wasn't set in stone until an action or inaction was made to seem as a complete change in direction towards the brutality that follows.

bro i dont know how you can say she 'got away scot free' when she was stripped of her status, her armband, her jacket, her card that let her get into the nexus and her PDA with CCA level clearance. even in the worst case scenario (worst for you that is) that she learns nothing (which was not the case) and gets everything back a day or two after, that's still a day or two spent being deprived of the tools she needs to do her job

i honestly, genuinely dont remember being given a long enough period to actually process the command to stop. i might not have even been in chat range for that tbh
He means that if Kuskova's loyalist gear was returned when the VA restored her status, it would have essentially been getting off scot free if you disregard the re-education.

she had a broken arm, that was going to stick, you don't get to disregard the re-education bit

i genuinely have a bitch of a time understanding what "scot-free" means in this situation you guys, i've been listing all the consequences that befell my character throughout the past 1-2 pages & my attempts at playing nice out of IC fear as well

The fact that most people expect the players to actually suceed when they straight up put all odds against them and attempts to over-complicate things when there's NO POINT, it just become unfun and then turn into either a slaughter or something that nobody actually wanted. Yes it is player-ran but how are you just gonna give such an insane disadvantage and hope that they suceed and say "well they could have avoided it" or some other excuse if they fail. Wait hold on, oh yeah I forgot about the argument "Should have just not done it" or "should have just not tried" like okay, I guess there's no point in me doing anything then. I might aswell just farm rations

Must everything be a success? Why can't failure also be a point of 'Ah, that's why so and so happened'. Must every single encounter enable a positive reaction and give the brain sufficient amounts of endorphins for it to be memorable?
Can we really say we ourselves know how it went down? No, only ARK and the individuals involved know and they are giving their POV. A POV that, as you can clearly see, will change. We who weren't involved can only speculate and discuss.

This person wasn't a stranger to Gomez. They'd already met before, and had discussed the work that Kuskova and Jost would be conducting- though the MCP took a poor view of it when it came to them mentioning things such as 'getting officers to move the furniture slightly out of place in somebodys room'. It was generally looekd poorly upon by them, hence why Gomez may have disagreed with them receiving the CMB frequency. Not to mention, my Rank Leader was already about to deny it, when Gomez asked what was going on.

Nothing good can be brought from being beaten because of insane disadvantages, the fun thing about failing is only when you get that feeling "Damn, that was pretty close." but otherwise you just look at yourself being completely crushed by the events and then die without actually suceeding at anything especially when trying to turn back from what is happening is already too late and cannot be done anymore.

There is no shame in feeling powerless, in knowing you lost because that guy had way more caveat then you did. The win and the good is in knowing that you did what you did because it was your character. And them following their principles and not changing them yourself to better suit the outcome otherwise.

ya the cmb frequency being denied is frustrating but its not really what this whole fiasco was about in the first place, i have no problem with understanding the inherent reasons behind the behaviors, but at the very least it'd have been better form if it didn't come with all this weird escalation on an absolute nothingburger issue

if you're not too fond of a CCA department why not just avoid it and let it do its job? going around fucking with them like this is the equivalent of self-sabotage from the pov of the Combine

(the song is just a reference. if you know, you know.)

Something that's been bugging me about this place for a long time, but only came to a head recently. Be warned, I will be crass:

Why is there this pervasive dumbfuck pants-on-head retarded notion that grips every aspect of this hl2rp server's IC bureaucracy that the best way to portray a """dystopia""" is to act like actual 13 year old cartoon villains and abuse their positions to go on personal power trips on their 'subordinates' for no other reason than pulling off stale acts of pointless sadism?

Can you people seriously not do better than this? Is a modicum of nuance to your character motives & behavior too much for you? Are some of you genuinely so delusional that you think anyone in your presence enjoys spending OOC hours being subjected to stuff like
otpaCsg.png

(which ended with him discharging a gun in my character's ear to deafen her because she genuinely couldn't listen to him monologue while he pressured her already fractured arm against the ground, and then later her ribs broken for involuntarily vomiting on an official's suit from all the abuse she'd already taken)

I believe in tastefulness and I believe in player empathy; I believe people who play powerful characters have a huge responsibility to make sure that the players they interact with actually enjoy being imposed on by them to some extent, that the 'way' this power is exercised implies some basic respect for the player on the other end and their time & enjoyment. I have held various very powerful IC positions across my time playing hl2rp in general (CPs, gang leaders, administrators, literally everything tbh) and every single time i've stuck to this simple principle and received nothing but praise from the people that I was otherwise actively fucking over ICly - so I'm not simply talking out of my ass or crying because I got hit with the big authority stick recently. These are my genuine beliefs, and I strongly feel the people with IC power on willard lack these qualities for the most part, and it's an issue that starts with elements of the upper rung of Combine leadership and trickles down to the CPs themselves, which occasionally creates complaints around their behavior, but truth be told, I've come to see them as blameless; their only fault at the end of the day is following examples set to them by their superiors.

This server's been slowly losing the draw and influence it once had as is. Maybe its time to re-evaluate some age old practices and why they don't work; there is a reason hl2rp servers aren't run with the same cartoonish edginess that they used to be in early 2010s. It simply isn't sustainable. Players like to feel oppressed, not actually BE oppressed - the latter isn't fun for anyone except masochists and people with dormant sub fetishes. Know the difference and start toeing that fine line between the two before you keep losing players to your own childish power fantasies. Start writing better villains with more nuanced ways of oppressing the populace while still giving individual characters breathing room to portray their own mannerisms without trying to reduce them to your personal platonic fucktoys.

Fix your shit.

Thank you.

You are right about this on so many levels. I could not find a better person to agree on with this more. The leads are so full of themselves and the same goes to the staff team here. There are unbelievable amounts of bias, red tape, and bureaucracy highly present on this steaming shitpile of a server that people waste their time on. I don't have to back this up because I witnessed it first hand in my year of being here.

Excellent. More discussion. Any comment is worthy.

Because that's all a discussion is. Positives and Negatives and then Discussing them.

I mean- they sought us out for the CMB frequency. We didn't go to them. As for not hearing the command to stop- it was a voice command, too, so it definitely would have been audible to you.

Haven't read any of the replies in this thread but IC is IC, let people play a dickhead character. It's roleplay, go play a character and do shit you normally wouldn't do IRL. It's a fucking game, get over yourself.

Homie.... You got killed for replicating Better Call Saul and making the H.H.M. law firm in-game, then banned and dewhitelisted for item transferring on an unrelated issue. You yourself are speaking under a bias when you smack talk despite your own underlying faults.

Enough with the high horse.

Admins I have never seen before are coming forth with more shade. Airing out the dirty laundry.
It brings a tear to my eye.

my post telling you to stfu got removed so i'll just say this another way;

no thx, i'll keep complaining about stuff i dont fun about the game im playing, thats the point of the game (to have fun)

Well. I guess that's that. Feel free to lock it down now. We've discussed as much as anyone's wanted to and I can feel the death of it. The momentum of the race horse has slowed and we needs put it down.
