OPINION POLL: NPCS In the Sewers

  • Thread starter Thread starter RogueSynapse
  • Start date Start date

What is your opinion on NPCS in the sewer?

  • I like the way it is right now and I don't think it needs to be changed.

  • I like the NPCs in the sewers but wish the rules surrounding them were different.

  • I want NPCs gone completely from the sewers and for the threat of creature encounters removed.

  • I want the NPCs to be replaced with 100% real RPing players.

I will say that I noticed something yesterday that made me both laugh and upset to see. NPCs are spawning near the NPC vendor by the body of water underground. The other day I saw a kid get blasted by a Houndeye while he had the vendor menu open. I'm not sure if he got pked for that but if he did that's kinda stinky.

Kinda but, like you can hear a houndeye

Even if he did hear it, we're talking about the ability of a player to quickly close out of a UI menu to face something that isn't going to stop until it's dead. Not exactly idea mechanics.

Most of the problems about using NPC's and player whitelists would be solved if, y'know, NPC's and Player Xenians (or at least NPC's) couldn't PK months-old characters.

Biased poll, where's the option to double the amount of antlions in the sewers?

the only issue with npcs is melee is flawed. My /FIRST/ encounter was crowbar vs fast zombie. I dodged its lunge, and hit it 1 hit kill with a crowbar.

I try to kill a normal zombie? lets me get 1 swing in before I am hit 6 times with no ability to react.
Melee is flawed asf lmao

edit: my idea is you let us get more than one melee hit in lmao

Though, until we find a proper solution to implement in terms of making the sewers more dangerous, we won't be cutting down hard on the amount of NPCs being used, especially difficult ones. Then again, we already try to use them in such a way that they aren't too OP but also not weak enough to not provide a challenge; which is what the sewers is all about. It's not just a loot farm.
Good, I actually hoped that with the new map, npcs would be arou d more and player creatures to increase the f
Difficulty. One of the things we found hard to deal with in the sewers was the amount of people com NG to us about spores, I kinda wanted to make it a thing that they would have to pay to lower a lite bit not that much but at least to not be annoying. But I think that can wait a bit again.

We do occasionally give out pills to headcrabs for example who managed to kill someone in S2RP combat and take over their body, so there's that.

And to be fair I would dedicate some hours to learn how to rp properly as a headcrab so I could give a nice experience to players and I myself have a good one too, even if I die I don't mind that it's always about the challenge of trying.
Its fun and we can't always win.

95% of the playerbase is accustomed to immediately shoot any type of xen creature they see. RPing as a headcrab is possible, though starting off the engagement is very tricky as most people, like I said, shoot first and ask later. That's partially due to how little player crabs are around since most of the people having Protector and above donor ranks don't even use these whitelists.
