*Backstory:
Carl was always a troubled child, growing up.
He always got into fights at school, disrespected authority, and generally was a delinquent. This was not a good thing for him, especially during the late years of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He did run amok with the law frequently, but with each subsequent talking-to, or arrest, he got better at avoiding the eyes of the law. Though he grew out of that phase when he got older, even when Ukraine released itself from the Soviet Union in the 90's. But, it gave him experience in brawling, and a street smarts that gave him a bit of an advantage.
When business began to appear around his town, he noticed that his brawn wouldn't cut it working as a grocery store employee; so he entered working as a bouncer for different clubs through the mid-90's. But as he worked, he saw the shiny lights across the ocean, living in America. Thus, he was tricked by the bright lights of the American dream.
Through the immigration process he went, but even through this he planned his way into his next few years. As he got through the immigration process, he saw the fliers and the pamphlets of the biggest research facility in the country; Black Mesa. With his, he saw an opportunity; and moved himself to New Mexico, to start a new career as a security guard in Black Mesa. Though he was only a citizen for a handful of months at this point, Carl was employed thanks to the immigration employment system in Black Mesa, and thus was able to be slotted in as a Security Guard in the mid-90s.
Given his five-year service in Black Mesa, he gained the experience and the respect of his fellow coworkers. With this, he also sought out further training from his higher-ups to ascend into a better leadership position. Thus, as of June 4th, 2001, Carl had been promoted to Sergeant.
Though he is a newly minted Sergeant, Carl does struggle with command; with the stress of it to be exact. The temper that got him into trouble as a kid in Ukraine resurfaces every once in a while in a situation of stress, which could, and has resulted in him making a mistake. With such an issue, Carl has tried to keep himself calm, though if pressures persist, it might not end well.
Though, to the present, Carl Udsmenk has been an obedient, and diligent Sergeant; leading from the front, while looking after his men, and minding his superiors. Though he has his failures and his doubts, he attempts to strive to be a role model, and a motivator for his men.
*Why do you want to play this character?: Well, I haven't participated in a Short Stories event before, I would like to try it once.
