OTA and Rebel Characters

I'm assuming that all of the major rebels, top dogs and players will have a rebel character and a complimentary OTA whitelist so that they can flag onto that whenever they could potentially be in any danger of losing their character to a sweep, right? Or will there be some sort of mechanic or rule against this? It's actually pretty funny how this is a thing across all Hl2RP servers, and yet no one seems to question it because they've never been adverse to an authority figure in their life and just bow down to any and all wrong-doing without thinking about it.

So like, will rebel characters get OTA whitelists so that they are never in any danger?

I mean, totally there will be some Rebels that will apply for CCA/OTA just to flag on their whitelist and check scoreboard for potential amount of OTA on. Then they will tell it to their friends in DMs, their friends will get on their civvie chars. Thus making them completely avoid the sweep.

If that actually happens it's a big problem, though I'm sure there are rules in place to avoid that kind of thing. It's an awful mix of metagame, fail RP and whitelist abuse so I wouldn't worry too much imo.

Thanks for the reminder.

I think the CM's, Mods and GM's will all be watching very carefully whenever a OTA sweep is called and check for individuals swapping characters.

If a Rebel character/player does get caught swapping over to OTA in a poor position (underground) then that person will likely get tagged for Metagaming, Fail RP and whitelist abuse as Fatty said above and be promptly blacklisted from the OTA faction. They will also likely get their Rebel PKed as well along with other further OOC consequences for such a heavy breach of trust.

A well timed thread, one of which was an ongoing discussion the other day. Manio's one of the Overwatch leads here, and this simple reply is enough for me to tell you that if people plan on being big rebels but want OTA at the same time - they're out of luck. If you want the full details, feel free to give the CP & Overwatch leads a message about it.

Other than that, this should ease your fears & concerns. If not, yeah I'd definitely just give them a message.
