OSF 5th Mechanised Infantry Regiment 'Skjold'
The 5th Mechanised Infantry Regiment is a unit that operates as Overwatch Standard Forces formation of City 18. This is one of the few Denmark's military units that survived the Seven Hour War beauracratically and literally. The regiment has the same command structure as it had before the Combine takeover, which means that this is one of the better equipped and better trained Arteria formations of Europe, not to mention it also comprises of mostly Danes, with Swedes and Norwegians being the minority. Much like the old military of Denmark, this unit is well-respected amongst the populace of City 18. The servicemen of the 5th have participated in numerous operations, which include but are not limited to Antlion infestation cleanups, raids on rebel strongholds in the Nordic region and etc. An average Constituent of the regiment is equipped with the standard-issue firearms and kit of a pre-Combine Danish rifleman: a Canadian C7 assault rifle, kevlar vest, Danish version of the Multicam pattern and maybe some additional items, depending on the role. This unit is one of the more formidable foes for the rebels, unlike other Conscripts of other Cities.
The regiment is currently made up of four battalions, the total manpower being 4 thousand servicemen of varying specialisations.
The Skjold also has several pre-War armoured vehicles: Leopard II MBT's, as well as some Swiss Mowag Piranha V infantry fighting vehicles.
The command structure of the regiment is made of pre-Combine officers, who had received proper military education. The commander of the regiment is Colonel Adrian Larsen. Him and his subordinate commissioned officers make up the Military Elite of City 18.
Maybe this regiment will gain some more action by getting to fight the HMMLR of City 2 or the SRF of City 3.
