RANGER-300, one of the so-called Elites. His real name was Henrique Silveira; a corrupt Brazilian police officer turned Metrocop when the world went to hell, and the Combine began their conversion of humanity to soldiers of their legions. Henrique enlisted himself for the family perks, sure, but he also had the Combine to thank for his freedom. He may not have "loved" the alien rulers; however, if it wasn't for them he'd be in a Brazilian prison. Arrested on corruption charges between the years of 2001 and 2003, using the Black Mesa Incident as a way to profiteer. He was damn near convicted in 2004 with heaps of evidence, but a week away from his sentencing the Combine showed their might, and those infamous seven hours felt like an eternity to a man isolated in a cell.
He used his police experience, as well as the previously corrupt nature to get ahead of the others who were still too remorseful to get any command roles. He skipped around, and had a bumpy road with a few infractions here and there - but Henrique, under the moniker of HERO-211, eventually made his way up to Intention One. He was not exactly thrilled about going through the 'MMR' process, but he was reassured by his colleagues saying "It isn't like the movies". Sure, it wasn't, but he was still different afterwards. He was already a servant with a debt to the Combine, but the procedures made him forget what it was like to hold his family. He was still a sympathetic person with emotions, but his goals deviated from his family and to service.
After several lucky years without being shot or stabbed in the back, Henrique ascended to the role of a Rank Leader after his commander was ambushed in a simple chase. HERO-211, Rank Leader, devoted to his service. He stayed in line, still caring about his family. Only transhumanization could take that care away; and it did, as his service did no go unnoticed. Sent off to a local facility, HERO-211 became a mindless tool, memories stolen and left with nothing but his humor and mannerisms. Thus began the journey of RANGER-300, a soldier who went down that tragic road, being encased in white armor and an infamous single red "eye" lens.
RANGER-300. Me. My memories and all. Let's hope these faculties get me through this, and don't just help me write what may be my final journal entry.
