when u put on Kevlar there’s a bar that goes up .. not even that long maybe like 10-20seconds .
YES PLEASE DO IT.
I've been in this situation multiple times where I threaten some guy and he turns a corner and somehow is fully fucking kitted.
Please make it so there is like a bar that shows a timer (let's say 1 minute or 30 seconds since it's a pretty big and heavy fucking suit), make it so that you can cancel it.

Did you report them for powergaming?
1: I didn't know his name
2: I told him these exact words: "Do you want to follow the RP and act as if you wore that all in less than 3 seconds, or do you prefer to forget what just happened and move on?" and we agreed to void the shit he had just made. (it was on district 9 so if you're interested enough you'll likely find it, looking for those exact words, or similar ones)

i would kms if i had to sit there for 1 minute watching a bar go up, 10-25 seconds is fine, especially since situations like you described can be remedied by just calling an admin

Body armour in a guerilla / Irregular fighter's arsenal should be something that can be quickly grabbed and donned, If people are doing that (We know they are) staff should be called and the rp paused.

Much like your rifle or sub gun your armour should be stored in your storage box or perhaps just in a safe place, It should be something stored until needed in most urban/city rebels/operatives cases.

Unless you're posted / stationed in the outlands you typically won't need all your gear on you and if you do? Congratulations you've either kicked off an uprising or fucked up so bad that OTA Are coming to kill you and wipe your group!

I like the idea of a timer as you equip armor. Even if it's just a short 5 seconds of standing with a sound effect, that seems like the bare minimum of reasonableness for shrugging on a load of improvised armor.

I also think something should be done about people (rebel+combine alike) healing/fixing armor mid-combat. No amount of RP would make it realistic to keep running around and fighting after slapping some cloth/gel on a grievous injury, but failrpers gonna failrp.

Good idea,

> Have to stand still.
> A sound effect like zipping or something is played in the vicinity.
> 30 seconds to a minute, the agility skill could even affect this perhaps?

Agility would be good but I think a 30 second - 60 sec timer and the zipping sound is a bit much

Fifteen seconds should be fine imo, everything else is good but I don't think stats should matter since we don't want people to equip kevlar any faster.

No, this destroys rebelRP and also is kinda political

The ideas of slapping bars on people's screen and then having them sit there waiting out the bar seems dreadful to me and would just make the entire experience seem like DarkRP rather that an SRP framework.
If we must add a delay between using and actually using, I'd suggest something that actually "incentives" roleplay.

When you use an item that would require significant action, a textbox appears where you have to fill out a /me of adequate size for said action.
Wrapping a bandage around your arm? 30 characters.
Removing a bullet through a first aid kit? 60 character.
Hoisting yourself into a kevlar suit? 40? 80? Dependent on tier?

This way instead of people standing around till a bar fills up, you'll actually get a form of the intended roleplay through player-made actions. It'll make sure things are actually acted out and people who game the system are quite easily detected as it broadcasts their bullshit to anybody nearby.

Development suggestions are on hold right now (and will be for some time) just because of a lack of resources.

As far as I know, I'm essentially the only active dev for English HL2RP and I have an insane amount of work to do as it is. Keep in mind that I do this as a volunteer, and that I have a full time programming job already lol.

I could do with some help and I think a dev drive is in order. This is more general development stuff and has little to do with this discussion, I just wanted to mention it so that everyone knows why things are slow right now.

With that being said, I could see about doing this with the new medical system that is being added for V3. I don't know about doing this with ammo, guns, armor, etc though as there is currently a priority queue and this would be pretty low on it.

I actually genuinely feel bad for you in that regard because the absolutely insane amount of absolutely useless systems that are not only massive but add literally nothing (clothes washing lol) that were accepted with the promise of being added in the future is wild

I think, in the past I personally would've said this seems a bit silly but given that now a lot of Willard's playerbase are new especially to the gamemode itself, this could actually be for the best in forcing players to think about what their character is doing instead of mindlessly clicking items like it's WoW. A lot of people will never RP these things, ever, and it's a much better solution than say, automated /me's which were discussed a while ago - you get the 'RP', the announcement of the action, but you also make players think and get into a habit of doing this and improving their writing.
