Backstory
Born in the more rural regions of Northern Ukraine in the village of Berezhnytsya, on the 12th of March, 1993, Kateryna Omelchenko is an shy but soft-spoken woman who didn't have many friends in her younger years. Instead of forming friendships, she spent most of her time reading books such as history and hanging around with her older sister, Nataliya. Kateryna would spend hours, upon hours, spending fruitful time with her sister. Playing games with her and mainly taking walks together in the nearby fields and in the forests. This perpetual bond between these two sisters will never be broken, not even the Combine will break them up when it occupied Earth after the Seven Hour War.After the defeat of Earth forces by the unstoppable force of the Combine and the occupation of Earth, Kateryna and her family got grouped together and were sent to what remained of the capital city of Kyiv, which had been designated City-58. They resided there until 2005 when Kateryna and her sister Nataliya got taken away from her parents and were taken to the nearest re-education facility, known as the Echelon facility to be re-educated into believing the Combine are the greatest chance for humanity to survival and to flourish amongst the stars.
However, Nataliya and Kateryna were also separated and placed into different districts due to Nataliya being a few years older than her younger sister, with Nataliya being placed in the Lower-Education Zone and Kateryna being placed into the Black district due to her suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. With the firmer education being placed onto Kateryna, she had a miserable time in the district. From being forced to take special medication to cease her condition and the stress from the stricter style of education.
Through determination, Kateryna managed to get past the Black District and even got up to the Lower-Education Zone District. But the misfortune is becoming traumatized and the near-complete loss of her ADHD due to the medication. During her time in the Lower-Education Zone, Kateryna picked up the hobby of painting in secret. With the trauma that she has witnessed during her time in the Black District, she needed something to do, something therapeutic to help her trauma. With this, her paintings are like an portrayal of her mental illness. A physical manifestation of what is going on inside her mind. She will paint until being released from the Echelon facility.
Through her supposed studies at the Echelon, Kateryna would be relocated to the prestigious Loyalist location of City-24. But, with now not being watched by the Combine teachers, she felt liberated. Kateryna can now finally stop being an Loyalist puppet and now become herself again.
