This isn't about the stupidity of things like breen's water being the only way to cook noodles. This is about proper recipes, some new foods, and a new way to obtain foods that occurs rarely.
Citizen Supplement meals:
The citizen supplements have always been something I roleplay atleast mixing my breen's water with in the old days of hl2rp.
Why not take advantage of the paste, and treat it as a base to mix other ingredients in, and have good taste, with more fill?
Artificial supplement with meat: With Roasted artificial meat, a citizen supplement, and dry herbs, you can create a basic, but nice meal. (+3 intelligence, +1 perception)
Artificial supplement with cheese: With citizen supplement, Cheese block, spice, and breen water, you can create a nice, tasty cheesey cream. Stir with a spoon! (+1 intelligence,+1 strength)
Artificial supplement leech chowder: With 2 roasted leech, sauce base, spice, and breen water, you can create quite the meal! The once shitty grey paste is now a thick, rich creamy chowder, with roasted leeches to compliment! (+3 strength, +2 perception)
Sandwiches are currently only with artificial meat. Why not antlion meat, and headcrab meat sandwiches?
Sandwiches:
Cheese: Why the fook is there no cheese recipe? Two milk substitutes, and 3 salt pots make a block of cheese, and cut it with knife for 4 (or 8; whatever works on economy) cheese blocks. These would be used in every sandwich besides the current artificial
Antlion sandwich: Two bread, antlion meat, and cheese make for a nice outlands lunch(+3 strength, +1 intelligence)
Headcrab sandwich: Two bread, antlion meat, and cheese makes roasted headcrab something else!(+3 strength, +1 intelligence)
Tuna sandwich: Two bread, and a can of tuna(suggested below) makes for a basic, but lovely lunch.(+2 agility, +2 intelligence)
New foods that should be added, in my opinion.
Pre-War soda:
Each soda should just be given fancy descriptions, perhaps detailing that they are nostalgic or nice or sum lol. All should boost agility by one.
Coca cola, pepsi, sprite, mountain dew, ecetera. If you can't use those names legally, make up some that are familiar, lol
Canned/preserved foods:
Canned foods would also be a nice addition. These are cans of food that are pre-cooked with no recipe, or cookable with very little ingredients, or by itself.
Pack of M&M's: Just a fun candy to eat. No stat boosts.
Canned tuna: Eat by itself. Combined with bread, makes tuna sandwich.(+2 agility, +2 intelligence)
Canned beans: Cook by itself in pot, or make beans and (roasted)headcrab!(+3 agility, +1 strength, +1 perception with headcrab, +1 strength no headcrab)
Beef jerky: Eat it up!
Skittles: Candy, heh.
New way to obtain food:
So, when scavenging, there should be an EXTREMELY rare chance of gaining any of the possible canned items I have listed, or any of the soda items I have listed. Make this the only way to obtain said items, so they are a rare resource. The sodas are just for being a better off person mentally rp wise, along with satisfying thirst. The foods, however, are there to make new recepies, obviously. (Maybe add beers, and only beers, to the rare asf food in garbage)
My reasoning behind adding this as a mechanic is due to the increasing threat of going into the sewers. This also gives another reason to go in the sewers besides looting materials, or selling/buying/picking up goods.
I mean, you're literally able to die at any moment. Why not have the rare occasion of finding a mountain dew, or tuna? It's not a gun, and the boosts from eating
ONE MORE, MOST IMPORTANT THING...
