NULLUM INFERNUM EST NISI MORS, ET MORS NON EST FINIS;
MORS EST TANTUM INITIUM TENEBRUM
You think it is all over?
That the final gasp when you die, you simply cease to exist?
You are wrong.
There is... something; incomprehensible for the human mind to properly understand.
There is an afterlife, but not one that you would think...
But what if I told you; that said afterlife is a prison; demons of hell, or just - simply... something that has an explanation in science?
You think that Dante's inferno were simple lyrics?
No... it was real. It has been real since the dawn of mankind...
But something is wrong; even the dead know it...
and those who look down from upon, see it too.....
Do not stand
By my grave, and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep—
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle, autumn rain.
As you awake with morning’s hush,
I am the swift, up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the day transcending night.
Do not stand
By my grave, and cry—
I am not there,
I did not die.
Only your fading memories remain, dead one.
For you are dead, but what is dead; is not truly dead in this world...
and this is not the physical world.
This is a realm of darkness, rot and decay.
There is no escape...
I salute you, dead one... for here there is only darkness.

A continuation of Ekrell's MASTERPIECE and built upon his foundation as a homage to him. Should Ekrell accept that we use his works, then I'd wish to ask the Event Team to consider this event with priority as it is meant as a homage to all deceased characters to reunite in this dark afterlife for one final showdown. Below here is a summarise of Purgatory according to Ekrellverse;
"Many believe all to be discoverable, with the ever-accelerating technology, the new great minds, and unfaltering determination - yet try as you might, you shan't know what awaits after the veil of death. Some fear it, some embrace it like a warm blanket - this one-way trip takes the fading souls into a place indescribable by words, unseen by eyes, unheard by ears. Though many believe tranquility to come after, it's far from the truth. The gates of the underworld embrace only those of the strongest will and discard those unworthy. Purgatory is all and nothing, the gateway between the two realms of existence. To reach the end of the passage is to tear the chance from the hands of others. An eternal competition under the everlasting eye of the Guardian, with naught but one standing at the end. The rest... doomed to eternally wander as husks, deprived of their memories...never alive, never truly dead."

- ROLES -
Lost Souls (/∞)
The great masses of dead. Heroes, villains, humans, aliens, perpetrators, victims, those loyal to the Combine, and those opposing their rule. After death, it matters not, for all are indiscriminately pushed through the veil to compete for eternal peace. With each second spent in Purgatory, your memories wither away, making you less and less yourself. The Great Guardian is the blind judge of those worthy, and he shall bless only one of the many. Will you tear the chance from others, or attempt to work together and somehow bend the rules? Prove yourself in this hellscape of the afterlife or be consumed and disintegrated into hollow nothingness.
Mors, amice veternus.
(Only DEAD characters from the main server/short stories server can be submitted into this role. If you have never lost a character, you're allowed to make up one. You will be granted your skills at the time of your death but not your previous inventory.)
