(IF ANYTHING CONFLICTS WITH LORE, TELL ME <3)

----Character Appearance--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ratel is a man that stands approximately 180 centimeters tall. Ratel’s hair appears to be combed backwards like that of a mullet, though his hair is much too short to be a proper one. Ratel has no blemishes or anything of interest upon his body. He looks rather ordinary in terms of physicality. His glasses are a black-rimmed pair, used to aid his near-sightedness. His face appears alive, but his eyes shine a different message.

----Ratel Callahan's Autobiography----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ratel felt as if he had no purpose in life, yet he did so well that he was admitted to a High School at the age of twelve in San José, California. But through so much hard work, nothing appeased his parents. They never had looked upon him with pride, always the bar would be another foot taller. His childhood was lonely, and the only thing he became acquainted with was the belt of his father. Other students at San José shunned him due to his unusual age for being a highschooler, and his family felt no remorse in regards to his pain.

In 2001, Ratel's family was asked to join a military escort to leave California and the entire west coast because of The Incident. Ratel's family had other plans; to group up their entire family and stand their ground to protect their western land. However, Ratel knew that this wouldn't be a good choice. The more the sky turned grey, the windier it got, the more things appeared, he knew that he must leave. He had to. He openly protested against his family, constantly saying and warning them that they should leave to the Eastern Coast. Unfortunately, they hadn't listened to him. They, in fact, made his beltings worse and treated him more heinously than before. After several days of worry from Ratel and constant anxiety striking him, he decided to leave his family and escape with the military escorts.

The escort was guarded by several APCs and armed soldiers. Several different kinds of people walked along, and for once in California it was all kinds of people. Homeless, rich, poor, the middle class, and immigrants. Everybody seemed to pay attention to their own families and to themselves, nobody seemingly noticed Ratel traveling alone. The soldiers shot frequently at aliens that roamed the streets, and for a while things seemed calm. Nearing the San José International Airport, things began to pick up. On the Guadalupe Freeway, gunshots echoed louder and louder, and it became evident that SJIA was an airport transformed into a military outpost. Several planes were leaving the airport, and jets flew around frequently, bombings heard soon after their departure.

Ratel's entrance to SJIA is an experience that he'll never forget. Directly outside at Terminal A and B, citizens were being triaged in tents with several medics running from each one. Explosions and gunshots never stopped. Planes roared loudly, and citizens lined up. Citizens were evidently tense, some of them crying and kneeling, others screaming and almost suicidal it seemed. Soldiers fired upon aliens on the outside, and it seemed as if some of the soldiers were killed in their posts from alien weaponry. Upon Ratel walking into line, ahead lied soldiers asking citizens in line questions. These citizens lined up into buses and were most likely driven to the airfield, Ratel concluded.

Ratel managed to sneak onto one bus, or at least was thought to be the child of someone else, and was driven to a plane. People inside the bus were quiet, terrifyingly quiet. They didn't say anything, not even whispers. A soldier stood near the driver, using one of the bus's poles to stand upright. The soldier said nothing, but looked around frequently at the sound of gunshots and explosions outside. The bus arrived at a plane, which had a giant staircase lumbering downwards for people to rush in. Jets flew into the air, and aliens fought in the sky it seemed.

The plane lifted off, and behind it was a jet most likely ensuring that it flies to safe airspace. Muffled gunshots and explosions became nothing but silence. For once, there was a tranquil moment of peace. This flight was something Ratel should have remembered, but he didn't. All that he remembers is that what it entailed: that it was an escape from not just the soon-to-be western wastelands, but also an escape from his family. For the most of the flight, he was asleep. And when he awoke, the plane was half-buried into the ground. Nothing from anyone was heard, and it seemed as if he was the only one alive. Like a machine processing only a directive, he got up, and trudged away. Unknowing of what will happen next.

Ratel scavenged cities he came across, ignoring other citizens and hiding from unusual creatures. Judging from present-day, he must have spent two or three years in the wastelands he was in, but all his brain was thinking was to survive and to move forwards to whatever the plane aimed at. He came across creatures that lunged for heads, flying bomber-like creatures, and other more cute ones that were red but entirely vicious.

Upon the end of Ratel’s journey, he came across whatever remained of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, connecting Brooklyn and Staten. He managed to cross to Brooklyn, only to be welcomed by people infested by head-lungers and other aliens. Loud noises came from a certain side of Brooklyn, possibly the North he recalls, and so he followed it. Upon arrival, several unusual soldiers brought him towards their bastion, confiscating a knife, food, water, and his bag. He was brought into the city shortly after deep inspection.

Ratel’s life in City One, as he came to learn its name, was not ideal. In fact, gunshots echoed through most sides of the city because of the Bastions’ efforts to protect it, blackouts were a constant, the heat was unbearable, and aliens frequently infested the streets. Ratel, however, hadn’t cared for what it was- but only that it was given. This generous act, as he viewed it, was what made loyalism towards the Universal Union in his heart to rise. Though he acknowledged what the Union did wrong, he acknowledged that if they weren’t here, the world wouldn’t survive the infestation of the alien creatures.

He would work for the Union on a day-to-day basis, working similar timeframes that a full-time underpaid employee would. He aided the “STAR” Legion, passing medication, ammunition, armor, and parts to the battlefront. He helped the Civil Protection force, “GAMMA 2-5,” locate aliens within the city. However, after due to a surplus of population, Ratel was chosen to be relocated to City 24 along with other citizens.

----Present Day-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In present-day, Ratel is 31 years old. His birthday resides on March 14th, 1986. While his childhood reflects that of an abused, he yearns to move past such weakness and aspire to be greater.
"Present-day" information will be expanded upon the full release of Willard's HL2RPG.

From the plane crash to the capture by Combine soldiers, you detail that he "might have spent months" in the wasteland. The gap between the Resonance Cascade and the Combine's arrival, in our lore, is 3 years. This may or may not be a lore issue, depending on how you yourself intended to write it.

Was going to comment about the blocks of text that weren't seperated but you seemed to fix it. All in all, it's pretty interesting.

Additionally, if you were wondering: Based on your characters birth date, your character would be:
~15 years old by the Resonance Cascade.
~18 years old by the 7 Hour War.
I only mention it since some sentences seemed to indicate placeholders for dates such as "In a certain year,"

where can I read about the gap between the Resonance Cascade and the 7 Hour War?
