make a list of things you can't apply for char auth wise

things such as:
- weapons
- armour
- stat increases
- certain crafting components

I don't think I have to explain why it's unfair for someone to have these things because of an application

I don't even think you could apply for weapons, armor, and components in the first place, something like that would definitely be denied by staff.

But a reasonable skill increase for putting in the effort to make the app is alright, as long as it fits the backstory in the auth and is reasonable.

I don’t see particularly why it matters too much to outline these beforehand. An app will either support it or will not. If I write a killer app, then I’d think it would be perfectly fine to do things like stat increases or whatever else the app clarifies on.
I am in this boat. Perhaps, depending on the level of education + character experience + IRL experience of said skill, maybe we can allow stat increases, that has some cap at LVL10 or LVL15?

That way, there is some advantage, BUT, it is not too far ahead.

I mean, which is better for RP? stat whoring or writing out a good backstory for your character

"I wrote a bunch of words and a backstory I deserve stat points that people have put countless hours into in order to get"

I mean, I am personally not against giving people some basic stuff if it encourages them to make better characters that they will care about... don't need to see this as a shortcut for players but as a way for admins to encourage people to put in some extra effort and that way improve the overall RP. In the end everyone benefits...

Shouldn't be only whatever is written that is considered though, and also the person's standing in the community and how they contribute to RP. Someone who only plays a scriptwhore or someone who creates enormous amounts of RP with his characters are entirely different things to consider. I'd rather nuke the server than give the former a single script, the latter I'd be happy to give the tools they require to make more RP as long as they are within reason.

You are forgetting that this is an RP server and not an MMO, writing a backstory is part of RP.
You are just getting upset because people are roleplaying for stats instead of grinding for stats on an RP server

We don't have to accept the applications.

If they are asking for guns. armor or large stat increases then we will likely refuse.

You're right. Me not wanting other people's hard work and time on the server to be outclassed simply because you made an application is totally in the wrong.

The server is designed for this. It doesn't prioritize roleplay by having these stat systems. I'm of the belief that everyone should be equal, regardless of 'for the sake of RP'.

The reason this was made was to stop people from bothering to apply for something they won't end up getting.

If you just hand out stat increases, you defeat the whole point of the system entirely. The idea that you need to go through others to get said increases in game.

Restrictions would be good for character auths, but these should be applied carefully. I don't like the idea of a character auth being used to overtake the entire rebel economy, or even catch up with it's figureheads - but this doesn't mean that bringing any items in whatsoever is bad. Someone starting off with some special clothes, a hatchet and some bonus cooking skill because they're a wilderness survivor isn't the worst thing in the world.

I would say certain things should be rejected on principle such as child characters

"Wow! Where did you learn to perform such a complex surgery? Were you a surgeon before the cascade?"

"no i just made a bunch of bandaids"

in that case give all cmu a massive medical bonus

give all cwu/cru crafting

What about any doctors or builders that don't want to be in the union?

And wouldn't this be an easier way to get skills than making a char auth?

also, that would just lead to people joining the faction for the sole purpose of getting the boost
