Denied Reverse Vending Machines for Social Credit

Hey!
So, two common problems are that people do not know what to do with all their plastic bags except desparately trying to sell lighters, and that people looking for social credit have little to do about it outside of waiting for community service or workshifts.

So, why not combine these two issues by creating some sort of machine operated by the CWU into which citizens can insert plastic trash and empty cans / paste jars for recycling purposes? Maybe they could reward one social point for every ten or so pieces of plastic garbage somebody throws in. Not a huge change, but it will add a little pastime for citizens and encourage people to not make 400 plastic lighters

I'm not quite sure where but last time I interacted with one it looked like a square combine machine on a wall. Haven't been much time on lately.

Either way, they should be somewhere since Atle as implemented them already

What? Trash collector terminals placed strategically across the city for citizens to press E and throw their empty cans and misc trash away. Why? Because it's an efficient way for players to clean their inventory from random unrequired items that no one would carry on them. It also makes sense...

@lemon @Silta IIRC the only machine is located within the CWU warehouse, not for public use for some reason. It also doesn't give SC, but that's not really important.

Yeah I have no idea why it's locked up inside the CWU warehouse

Oh, that big thing - yeah, I had something public in mind.

And I think the Social Credit thing would be good to encourage people to use it as a holdover until more/easier ways to use plastic trash for everyday citizens are implemented (assuming that's somewhere down the line)

People don't have a reason to search recycling bins though, that's my whole point - the plastic they get they can't actually use 90% of the time.
I want to encourage people searching recycling bins and actually finding use for the stuff in there - which is why I hope there will be more rudimentary crafting recipes for crude plastic trash etc. in the future. But for now, I think this is one way to do that - the reward should be too miniscule for most people to want to deal with it (I know my character isn't gonna go around collecting empty cans for recycling) but it should encourage a couple people to really go dumpster diving

I personally find great use of the plastic items i find in trash bins. While true, you can't make anything amazing out of just plastic, you can however make them into lighters, of which smugglers pay decently for. If not that, even selling pure plastic trash is a thing. I'd hate if this was taken away, as Rebels and other criminals already have a hard enough time grinding for materials.

I know for a fact I'm not the only one who uses the contents of trash bins for said purposes. Please don't make it even harder for criminals/rebels to aquire materials.

I mean, you can still make them into lighters. Adding competition between rebels and "hobos" between who gets to raid the trashcans only makes things more interesting, in my view. The majority of people will still interact with trash bins the same way they do now.

I disagree. I believe a lot of people, mostly loyalists (not just hobos living in filth), would search the trash bins for cans, plastic & whatnot, for said recycling machine you mentioned, all in the name of grinding either SC or just basic credits. While i will say it'll only be a small boon taken away from rebels & other criminals, we do already have a hard time.

I like your idea though. I'd love to see it implemented if material acquisition in the sewers/slums was easier/faster.
