When you make a group, you can see all member names even if you do not recognize them.

Even if they have a nickname, their IC name is displayed.

I suggest the roleplay group scoreboard is put to same standards with the recognition system as the original scoreboard.

This means that if you do not recognize a character, you'd not see them in the roleplay group as a recognized person. While also recognizing characters by their nicknames would make you display their nickname.

This change removes accidental metagame and encourages players to schedule meetings to get to know each other, unless they want to be more covert.

In addition, I'd love to be able to have a setting where members don't have permission to see the group scoreboard. It seems a bit silly that you can join a group, and see whoever else is in it even if you do recognize them from a previous encounter. For example, if you meet some random fellow on the street, get introduced to them, and then later join a rebel cell that they're also coincidentally a part of, you'd be able to see that they were a part of the group even if you have no IC way of knowing it. Even something as simple as 'display fake-names only' would go a long way, should what I suggested not be possible.

From what I've seen/heard previously on the discord, the administration wants to encourage 'clever' rebels that focus on espionage, secrecy and don't just tote big guns; it seems a bit daft that a system that seems designed specifically for player-made groups has no anonymity settings at all to allow for large, decentralized groups to avoid meta.

Thank you for appreciating my suggestion and adding more to it!

Too much of a code mish-mush to have the group list use the same logic as the scoreboard with unrecognized people but I'll look into a setting that allows the group owner to hide the members list unless you're a group moderator/owner

To be honest, if you do not trust people to not meta the group scoreboard, then do not make a group/allow them into your group. Any form of OOC structure can be meta'd, the only clean way you have of countering that is by not having it in the first place.

The information tab though is perfect to arrange roleplay group events.

Instead of having to rely on metagame where you add friends on steam/discord.

The information tab is still OOC info. Unless you have logs of you telling each other stuff via RP (or do it via info written in-game on a piece of paper that you post), it is OOC transfer of knowledge. The thing is we allow this OOC transfer of knowledge as long as it is not with the purpose of negatively impacting other players (aka no planning to PK other people via OOC methods).

It would be wonderful though to add more mystery to the player when joining a group. Instead of putting a blind eye to names you are spoiled from checking the scoreboard.

I can understand where you're coming from with that, but I still think it's something to consider, especially for larger groups. A well-played character can still be an arse OOC and having an entire roster leak whenever a new chump joins the group is significantly harder to control than making a private google doc/discord. I'm sure the group system will still find a use for some, but meh.

We'll eventually add a toggle to hide the group roster from its members but we can't add anything else

ACCEPTED-ish
