We watched it happen. The unfortunate ones who lived.
The end of the world was quieter than I expected.
But it wasn't the end of the world.
It was worse than that.
As the last light dawned over a free Earth, a little hand tugged at her sleeve.
"Are we gonna be okay?", the child whimpered.
Despondent eyes turned away from the incipient collapse of humanity to regard the child,
and a mirthless smile touched her countenance.
"Yeah," the woman lied.
"We're gonna be okay."

The first person I ran into in 24. In the new district, at least. Don't think I've ever met a harder worker than this guy. Sometimes you can act like you have a twelve-diameter stick lodged up your ass, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I nearly lost my shit when I thought I lost you too, but I know you can take care of yourself; I've already got the worrywart to watch over. Believe me, though, you're way better to share a room with than Laz. Hope he doesn't see this somehow.
Lukasz Karwacki
Weird, timid little guy. I didn't know he was a doctor. Loyal to a fault, though, just the kind of guy you want in your corner. I think he's into some weird shit, though. Call it a hunch. Has a tendency to stand behind people with his arms crossed; thought it was a bit weird at first, but it actually kind of makes you feel important. Keep doing your thing, buddy.

I'd really rather us stop meeting. You're a degree less of a hardass than the other cops I've had the displeasure of talking with, but in a way, that's a bit scarier, you know? You're definitely some kind of sociopath, and it's measured by this really cool, semi-trusting facade you put on. I don't even think they need to scramble your brains to turn you into a robot.

Funny old Jewish guy. I don't know, I think I'm his adoptive granddaughter now, or something. When you aren't spending your time sniffing the Union's farts, you're a cool guy. No father figure by any means, but I'm really starting to warm up to you. Hope the dementia stuff works out. Maybe they have meds for that now.

Our paths were joined by chance, but you aren't that bad to pal around with. We aren't that close, but it doesn't have to be that way, you know? Maybe once I break that first barrier, you won't be such a wall to talk to. Hope you're doing alright.

Probably the most normal girl I've met so far, but that's not a bad thing. You're sweet, and oddly caring for the times we're in; I figured everyone's finer survival instincts would've kicked in by now. Still, it's my favorite part of you, for whatever it's worth.

Seems to have taken up the mantle after Kassandra shipped out, even if it's not an official position. Worker's Union is pushing along just fine under your care, buddy. We don't talk much, but I know you end up busy as all get-out with the management side of things. Let's go squash some infestations together sometime.
