Hello. I thought it'd be cool to add some WW2 weapons to the game. I think they could add a lot in terms of weapon diversity. As of current we have a system that basically means all guns you aquire have a better counter part (until you get to the best) but I think adding some old guns with some major pro's and con's to use could add alternatives that some players may prefer or hate, with advantages and drawbacks to use For example, a lot of old service rifles would deal a lot of damage, perhaps more than some of the AR's in the game. However, being old and cheaply made due to the era they have outdated and slow mechanisms causing very slow fire rate and small clip sizes. I also think they could be easier to craft than some of the current weapons. They'd definitley be harder than pipe weapons but are more simple than things like the mp7, due to them being designed to be easy to produce. Anyway, here's a list of some weapons i personally think would be a good addition:
The Sten Gun
The Sten Gun is a 32 mag capacity smg using 9mm bullets. It fires at around 500 RPM. The fact it uses pistol ammunition makes it a great alternative to our current SMGs as the ammo is easier to produce and in more abundence. However, that means it's very inacurate and yeilds much lower damage (as noted from irl use) Some players such as myself see value in having a weapon with a much more reliable source of ammo, as opposed to a "better weapon" with rarer ammo types. Due to it's cheaply made design and the fact it's old, scopes and supresser mods would be out of the question. Also, the history with this gun is very fitting. The UK distributed it mainly to resistance forces around the world, like The French Resistance. So, having it used as a weapon against the Combine by resistance partisans makes it live up to its original purpose. It's also lore friendly that rebels would be able to create their own, as the design is so simple that real life resistance forces (Mainly the Polish) actually manafactured their own. I'd say this gun is also low skill range. From 10 upwards.
Springfield Bolt Action
5 round clip mag, using .30.03 rounds (could be adapted for server) firing at 15-30 RPM. For in game purposes the pro's of this can be the high damage and range because of it's use as a sniper. And the drawbacks are the incredibly slow fire rate and reload, not to mention the small ammo capacity. Also a supressor wouldn't be possible to fit. Without a scope the gun will be hard to aim because of bad iron sights but with a scope it becomes a good sniper. There are no sniper rifles as far as i know and using an incredibly old one makes the damage output less OP. It also uses cheap parts for easier crafting. I'd say the skill range should be quite high due to the bolt action. You'd need to be familiar with guns to use it effectivley. From 20 upwards.
The Liberator Pistol
This one is funny. It's a tiny 5 inch pistol with only 1 shot able to be chambered. It used .45 ammo. It was used in ww2 for the equivilent of a 'shot cop'. They'd drop these tiny hanguns to resistance fighters mainly so they could kill or harm occupational soiliders and steal their weapons. It's pro's are being easy to conceal (RP wise it'd be fun to have CP's need to role perception to be able to 'see' it when searching as realistically you could hide it easily and bring it into the city), extremley cheap to make and not requiring much skill at all to use. The draw backs are the range (Barley being effective at more than 10 feet) and the single shot capicity. I think either this or an extremley cheap pipe variant remake would be a cool addition to the game. Allowing real low tier rebels to have a little self defence weapon and perhaps a chance to get some better gear. The damage would be fairly consistant with standard 9mm pistols due to the .45 round, but lowered effectiveness with the size of the gun.
