Semi Serious using SeriousRP maps.

So, I've been seeing a lot of Semi Serious servers now dipping their toes into using Serious-RP oriented maps. For example, Terminal Six and City Three.
I kind of feel like with Semi Serious doing this, it almost corrupts the reputation of said maps. In my opinion, Semi Serious should stick to the popular HL2RP map rotation, and let SeriousRP have their maps.

What do you guys think?
 
Gatekeeping isn't good for any community, especially a dying genre. They shouldn't need to be restricted to maps because someone in another community said otherwise.
 
as someone who plays semi serious and formerly played serious, its kinda cool. the only problem is that the gamemode isnt really fitted to these maps.
 
As someone that started HL2RP from semi-serious back in like 2010 before jumping into serious in 2012, I have mixed feelings on this.

That change seemed to have sparked from the death of Impulse. Other """semi-serious""" servers today do try to look more like Serious RP as a skin, while trying to keep the semi-serious atmosphere pleasant.

It's pretty obvious by now that without looking to implement from what Serious RP looks like, then you've just got another niche server that's titled "Generic semi-serious server here" with the same mechanics as all of the others. It really depends on what the objectives of the server is and how the map fits the purpose. Industrial 17 was the first ever HL2RP map I've ever played back in the day. I can respectfully say that it doesn't really matter what map any community chooses - so long as it benefits them.

Besides, we have our own mapping teams doing stuff behind the scenes. They'll likely be big hits when they arrive in the future. EVERYONE thirsts for new maps, to which Willard will flagship that for a little while, it seems.

I mean most hl2 servers are kinda one and the same, semi serious just has mic and shit, tbh dont gatekeep

at the end of the day its just a map

it really doesn't matter imo what map semi serious servers are using

the only people that should care about what maps servers are using is the server owners themselves as they need to choose a map, and the playerbase, as they like or dislike other maps

I don't play semi serious servers anymore, so imo I really don't care what maps semi serious are using

they could be using c24 or flatgrass for all I care
