Origins:
The Sindacato Dei Vignari Familia started off as a small-time crime gang somewhere in Italy, some suspect that the formation of the group was located in Northern Italy, in the city of Venice. The true date as to when this familia was formed is still a mystery but their presence started gaining attention during the late 20th century, probably around the ’90s, when the drug trade at the time was really prosperous to whomever can control the market and supply of such sought out items.
Their involvement in the Drug Trade led them to a rise in power over the years, going from a small-time gang to a large crime family that spanned all over Northern Italy. However, their good fortune comes to an end when the Portal Storms came and changed the world forever.
The Destruction of the Old and Comes in the New.:
During the Portal Storms, The Sindacato Dei Vignari Familia were severely affected due to the sudden change of pace as well as the numerous misfortunate incidents that befall on the Government which also lead to their demise as well. No Government means no Jobs, no jobs mean no money - No money means nothing for the Sindicato Familia to take advantage of. However, despite their sudden cut of funds and power, they still held onto their territories in Venice despite the sudden invasion of multiple xen creatures and collapse of society in Italy.
With the many refugees left stranded by their fallen government, some flocked to join the Sindicato out of protection or desperation to survive; One of these refugees was the Father and Mother of Giuseppe. During the duration of the Portal Storms, Gui’s Father worked closely with the Sindicato Familia and gained their trust for being a sharp man and a loyal soldier to them to feed his family. With mild respect to such reasons and his abilities, he was promoted to Made Man and this caught the admiration of Giuseppe for his promoted Father and the Sindicato Familia he worked for.
These were troubling times for the Sindacato as the years of the Portal Storms drove the familia deeper into the collapse of their organization, due to being unable to face such overwhelming odds of the xen creatures that invaded their world. Unfortunately, The Italian Government managed to reform itself and retook control of Venice, reducing the power that the Sindacato held from their grasp.
However, this all changed when the Seven Hour War occurred and took over Earth from its weakened governments. When their new alien overlords introduced themselves as the Combine, the Sindacato initially thought to fight back but thanks to Guiseppe’s Father, who has been made Capo because of his efforts, instead use the Combine to regain the power they lost; This made the Don of the Familia backed down and instead sworn ‘loyalty’ to the Combine as to not destroy themselves for provoking the enemy but to also thrive and find a place in this new world order…
Swearing Loyalty
Despite their intentions to find a place within this new world order, it took them a few years to be able to gain meager amounts of social standing via slipping into positions of considerable power and back-handed deals with low-ranking members of the citizenry that submitted to the Combine rule.
However, with perseverance and enough behind-the-scenes dealings; They managed to gain a good loyalty status amongst themselves and spheres of influence through businesses as well as an organized crime within the Combine social system of City Thirty-Two; A City built upon the ruins of Rome to be remade into the Combine’s image.
It felt like the Sindacato was slowly getting its way up within the Combine hierarchy but unfortunately, this did not last. Despite the somewhat lavish and powerful positions they now hold as Loyalists; Some within the Familia did not wish to conform with their new alien overlords and proceeded to unceremoniously break off from the Sindacato, knowing this will mark them for death by their former organization.
Few joined the Rebels that aim to fight the Combine and in turn; Targeted the Sindicato, known for its loyalty and conforming to the Combine in return for power and influence. In the eyes of the Sindicato, targeting the Combine whom was the source of their power and influence was a slight to their own organization.
Hence a feud between the Sindicato and any rebel groups who dare oppose the Combine began. From mere fist scraps and name-calling evolved into more drastic measures such as reporting and perhaps even murdering behind the scenes in the name of their overlords.
During all of this, Giuseppe managed to bypass the event where he would’ve been separated from his parents - However, he could only rely on the friends of his father and mother within the Sindacato to teach him the ways of the familia, as the two had to be relocated to other cities as per the Combine’s command.
Like teaching and student, Giuseppe too embodied the ideals and beliefs of both the Combine and the Sindacato family; Sharing their hatred for any who dare oppose them which are the Rebels and the traitors that dare side with them.
‘Expansion Branch to Geneva’
A decade passed by and the situation of the Sindacato grew direr by the day. Despite the efforts of both the Sindicato and their Combine master's to quell the rebel presence within City Thirty-Two; Their efforts were for naught as citizen unrest and rebel presence only intensified within the city, damaging the spheres of influence that the Sindacato held over some of its districts.
Giuseppe at the time was old and trusted enough to be promoted from Associate to Made-Man within the organization just like Father many years ago. From his desire to lead and to seek recognition as well as power in the name of the Sindacato Familia; He was tasked to create a side branch of the familia in City 24: Geneva, just like how his own father created the thriving side-branch in City Forty-Eight.
Eager to please the organization and father he so admired for so long, the made-man accepted this request with eagerness. Unknown to Giuseppe, the idea came from his mother, a medium-ranking loyalist, whom heard of the recent chaos within City Thirty-Two and wanted her son to be moved to a different city where he would be supposedly safe.
With backdoor dealings, connections, and some bribery to certain city officials; Giuseppe was able to be transferred away from the unstable City Thirty-Two to City Twenty-Four of former Geneva.
There he began his journey for recognition and glory for the Sindacato Dei Vignari Familia…
