I get its meant to be a grind
But when I make 6 roast chickens and 4 chicken sandwiches
I expect to see my skills quite a bit more levelled than

Again, I know its meant to be a grind
but that's a little exteme imo

and, crafting.. it's honestly just useless tbh
The skills are too nerfed. I know, it's meant to be hard. But this is near impossible.

It takes hundreds of tokens to level up from like 13 > 14 for bartering.

Yeah. Skills need to be easier. Not easy, definitely not easy. But miles easier than this

I like the skills system, I think it's great. But it's way too hard. In testing, crafting about 6 hats gave me something like 5%. That's far too much of a grind, even at higher levels.

So reduce the amount of XP needed by 3/4 maybe. The lower levels should be a lot easier than the higher ones, and it should all be reduced.

I need to make 200 roast chickens just to level up to level 8 according to what I've just tested, so 3000 to 4000 xp for a new level
that's too much

Also, increase the respawn time, or the amount of, trash piles since its near impossible to get most items for crafting

Make sure that your food and thirst are filled, it will reduce levels and XP.

A potential solution to the leveling problem could be tiering the levels into different proficiencies of a sort.

I would say four tiers could be implemented since max level is 50 for any given skill. Each of these tiers would advance at different rates. The first tier would be the easiest to advance, with each other one becoming harder than the last.

This would allow players to gain access to more basic skills features quicker, while also preventing them from becoming a runaway train that grows too fast all around.

So Tier 1 is like, level 1 to 10 and is pretty easy
Tier 2 is like level 10 to 20 and isn't too hard if you have the time
Tier 3 is like level 20 to 30 and requires some decent devotion to the skill
Tier 4 is like level 30 to 50 and takes a lot of time

I'd like a CM's opinion if you could @Mendelevius @Mullin @Robert

As someone working as a cook in a store, having cooked 10+ meals in the last 3 days and being 12% of the way to the next level seems too fucked

Honestly dude so true. I get that it takes a while to level stuff up in games but every time I've played around with numbers and what not it ends up coming out to about 10-20 hours to level up a skill by just one if that.

I know why the devs put it so high
but make the lower levels, anything below 20, take a reasonably short amount of time if you're using the skill a bit, like for your job (a chef)

Every level from 0 to 50 is 1000 exp. It does not increase per level or something, rather some recipes just give less exp after a while.

This way you can always tell from your progress exactly where you are. 0.1% progress = 1 exp.

There is no 0.1% progress, just full 1% 2%.
And, mate, make it lower. It takes way too long
Getting 20xp from a roast chicken doesn't even increase it by 1%, so that 1000exp is wrong
and even then. 1000xp to get from level 0 to level 1? That's crazy. Make it lower. A lot lower. To start of, at least. Above level 30, sure, make it 1000. But it's gonna draw people away eventually if they can't even get to level 2 in a single skill

I'm getting frustrated because I love the skills system, I think it's great. It's just saddening seeing how it's so flawed by something easily fixable.
Level 1 to 10 take 200xp
Level 10 to 20 take 300xp
Level 20 to 30 take 500xp
Level 30 to 40 take 700xp
Level 40 to 50 take 900xp

That's nice, that works, it's satisfying for players, people will not argue

Making 40 items and seeing your skill level not change is frustrating, it pushes players away. You want to draw them in with something nice, easy, satisfying, while putting the grind up at the higher levels. Don't toss them into the deep end right from the start.

The entire playerbase is asking for skills to be easier to get, at last in the lower levels. A gradual climb like I put in here.
Level 1 to 10 take 200xp
Level 10 to 20 take 300xp
Level 20 to 30 take 500xp
Level 30 to 40 take 700xp
Level 40 to 50 take 900xp
Please, listen to them. It's crucial long-term survival that skills work and are fun to progress through

System is hardcoded at 1000 exp per level because it makes stuff easier.

Instead we change exp per item between levels. A recipe can give different amounts of exp based on your level, so at lower levels, low level recipes can give more exp while at high levels they give nothing.

Different way of doing the same thing.

Doing nothing is a terrible idea, Grass.
Jesus fucking christ stop with the double post. Stop thinking I am saying we should do nothing and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I DO NOT HAVE 1684684160 HOURS PER DAY TO FIX ALL YOUR SHIT.

Recipes and skill per recipe isn't even my stuff, Robert & Atle set it up. But guess what? They ARE ALSO BUSY.

Give us time ffs, we aren't bloody fucking deaf.
