So I really want to create a character specialised in crafting, and eventually gun crafting...
Let's say I spend ALL this time to level up to level 50 crafting, and let's say I get caught supplying someone and I get shot in the head PK. Do I have to make a new character and start at level 0 crafting? "Unfortunately, yes."
I really want to play on the server and spend a lot of time levelling up skills, but I would really consider not even touching any skills if they reset to ZERO upon death. I'd seriously give up and not even play anymore. - The same goes for ANY skill, even maxed out Medicine and cooking would be a huge slap in the face to reset to zero.
WHAT IF: You're maxing out the Melee and Gun skills and you've found yourself in the right moment to fight combine to protect someone (for example) and because you on the chance of being executed, especially due to anyone always being outnumbered by combine, you're more likely to be PK'd 100%.
ALL of your hard work levelling up, all of those weeks you spent grinding after work or school etc, just wasted... zilch... gone...
I fully understand in role play terms, NLR exists and you start a new life, no if's and but's. That's a given... However, for the PLAYERS sake and our mental health, surely the time and effort spent on skills should still be rewarded account-wide. The incentive to actually play through these skills, and grind through them, becomes much more desirable... We want players to fully develop their characters through skills, not feel warded and feared off from levelling them.
IDEA : Implement skill-level milestones. 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 milestones, you should have the option to reload the skills of your choice on your next character because of all your hard work put into the server. So if you were to create a new character you can keep your skill level milestone.
IDEA EXAMPLE:
Jolly Roger is a craftsman with level 56 crafting and 24 medicine. One day he does something that the combine did not like and he spat in their face when he got struck in the stomach. The combine led him inside and strapped him to a chair, pulled out a pistol and shot Jolly Roger in the head, dead...
Scenario 1: The player has to make a new character, so the player wants to create a medic character, and selects the level 20 medicine milestone on the character creation screen.
Scenario 2: The player has to make a new character, so the player wants to create another craftsman. After creating the character, press TAB and click onto skills and click onto crafting and next to the levels is the milestones to OPTIONALLY receive due to your hard work and dedication on Willard Networks. Nobody should feel like they've wasted their time.
Scenario 3: The player has to make a new character, so once their new citizen has been created, you walk up to the civil terminal and choose a milestone(s) from a past life, still giving you the option to customise and personalise your new character.
Thanks,
JollyRoger
