STAIR WAY TO HEAVEN

A Limeao event.

Thanks for taking part in my first event on Willard.
I hope you enjoyed it, and were able to over look some of the little mistakes.
(Trying to tp, do /events and fix broken props on your own, is a pain in the ass.)

I'd like to thank @pyromancer and Maui for playing the event character, Sarah and Bishop respectively.

I'd love to hear any and all feedback, positive and negative!
And if you took any screenshots, I'd love to see them!

Was a pretty decent event, felt pretty cool that it still set in the feeling of what the world of HL2 has come to, a depressing landscape filled with death, despair, and sadness. But I do feel that the somberness of both Bishop and Sarah just didn't really feel impactful that much, there wasn't many notes or signs that both characters had like a deep history, to which just made the scenario where Bishop sacrificed himself just very unimpactful and not too real. Overall, I'd give it like a 7/10. (Also, yes, I did give it a 7 because I love Limeao and his characters :) )

This was more of us realising that we'd kept you guys for a while and were running the risk of you getting bored, as obviously Pillar's vortigaunt was more involved than you two, and we felt that both you and Vlado were being ignored - we were doing stuff pretty off the cuff and not having anybody with any staff access outside of Limeao was a little stressful (esp. when he accidently undid the fucking railing in the depot part and had to rush to fix it just before you guys were about to go in there 😭)

Admittedly - the pacing was a little strange but that's just of a result of the pressure of running an event with one person managing the whole thing, for next time we'll see about getting myself and more people on board with temp-GM roles/actor to hopefully ease things a little more to give you guys a little more time to interact with stuff and roleplay.

Considering it was his first event on here and we thought it'd be more trouble than it was, I'd say it went pretty well. We've cooked in the past and when we've learnt what the fuck we're doing on here I'm sure it'll get a lot better.

Hardly noticed any little mistakes.

It was very fairly placed and super fun to participate in.

Excellent first event, and look forward to seeing what else can be done.

The scenes themselves were well propped and gorgeous, I did appreciate the event dialogue being prepared, and a bit more slow; roleplay-focused, and investigative.

As for constructive criticism? Exactly as Garlic pointed out; the impact was at least not initially felt -- And even yourself during one of the ending /event lines, where it had us wonder why we did this escapade in the first place.

(However, this can easily be remedied if if there is a continuation of these plot-points, and a return of Sarah or perhaps hunting the demon?)

Overall, for a first event, it was quite enjoyable and I would love to see more.

Yeah, for a first event from the GM, I actually had quite a good time overall with this one. Maybe you felt like me and Garlic were being left out given how involved Pillar was getting with their Vort, but I do feel like sometimes you kinda have to find moments to assert yourself to get more RP and development from your character since you can't always just wait for things to come to you and be passive until something happens and then react.

I guess my criticism is the same as everyone else's, just that it didn't feel like there was much of a point to what we ended up doing or why we were there in the first place, but to be honest, that's not that big of a deal to me since I actually think that it's pretty realistic or at least somewhat natural that sometimes you just get dealt a bad hand in some situations and you can't really account for things happening beyond your control sometimes. That being said, I would say that, if I were to make some changes to how this would've been done, I would've changed the mission objective once we found out that everyone got massacred (and that the survivors seemed to want to go their own way) that we'd just gather everything we can in terms of evidence that could be presented to the quest giver later or that there'd otherwise be something of value to retrieve form the church so that there'd be a feeling that we still have some kind of purpose to fulfill while we're there, even if it's just collecting proof of what happened.

Aside from all that, very good event for a first time from the GM, and I think they can do good work as they continue, so I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Yeah, this event plot wise was a bit of a nothing burger, and intentionally so. It's really to serve as a set up, and I was planning on having more of a discussion post-event about going forward. Though I had to dip quickly and deal with some other stuff.

Do expect a continuation of some of the hints and clues left behind. There will be more of a narrative pay off in future!
