I remember this place... In flashes, I recall... Reading, yes reading. I remember spending my childhood here, many others... Like me, all sent here to learn, some of them engineers, some of them nurses and doctors, like me. Others... Others put on that mask, some of them never taking it off again.

I recall being put on a train bound to this place, being taken here when it was dark, sorted into a dorm room of those my age as we were taught the way of life, loyalty, obedience, subservience I could go on.

But it was here I began to find my calling, that of medicine, doctoring and well, helping. Yes that's what I wanted to do, I wanted to help those in need. It's why I wanted to join the medical union after all. What? Oh, you want me to go onto what happened next?

They sent me here after I turned eighteen, I'd learnt the bare necessities to make my way around, mainly... Blended in with the crowd and kept my head down, aiming to see the brighter side of life, the upper city where I could finally put my dreams to reality.

It was not the case. My English was more developed than my French, so they sent me to where they sent the others. Down into the lower-city to be with the rest of the 'Citoyens', I worked day in and day out, attempting to make my way up the social ladder and get out of there anyway I could, labor, menial shop work, I could go on but it wasn't the case for nearly two years.

Two years, I spent here and two years I didn't meet my dreams... I thought it was going to be what I knew till I finally met my lucky ticket and that I did. Sorry? Where did they send me? Well, I'll tell you.

I recall stepping off the train, the acrid and bitter smog hitting my nose as I choked on the thick air, eventually I learnt to subside and get used to it. This is where I had been sent as part of the on-going... Dispute we'll call it between Thirteen and Twenty-Four. It was here my eyes were truly opened and I began to make a mark.

I met... Everyone here. Friends, enemies, rivals, allies... I could go on. All of them shaping me in one way or another. You need examples? Well... There was Richter, the one who managed to get me in the door when it came to making ends meet alongside his friend Zbyszek. Juniper... An odd woman who I oddly felt responsible for, no matter the bitter façade she showed me.

But those two were some of the people who believed they were 'important', I didn't talk about those who I could truly rely upon or I was really friends with. Eleanor, one of the local doctors who managed to help me claw my way into making my dreams come true. Emiyo, her older and more wise counterpart and someone I hold dearly. Michael, a quiet and kind unassuming person who eventually joined up with our little trio. Not to mention some of my more... Quieter friends... Alex, Sniffy, Teller... I could go on but- Oh. You.. You want to know about what happened there. I see.

I... Try not to reminisce on this place. A lot of us went, Richter, Jindosh, Stenhouse... Aurelio, Kanto and many others. Some I've lost on the way, others who're with us still. But I try not to think here.

We... Did things, unnatural things in order to survive and we saw unnatural entities in return. Apparitions, hallucinations, other... Twisted entities. But something lingered with me throughout it all. Steadying my hand and keeping me calm, I miss it dearly.

But I heard her, whispering to me. I kept turning around to see where she was but never able to see her always just, out of sight, always. And... I broke my oath. Doctors swear to do no harm and I even took that oath when I wasn't a doctor and I recall it to this day, how they were casted from the cliffs.

I... Don't want to linger here no more, let's move on.

1750112047737.png
1750112063089.png

This place... Bewildered me, both in it's lifestyle and people. Divided in two families, I can't recall their names but I recall their... Gaudy suits. The other family? Well, they had their masks. Our protectors nonetheless, all the same unless you came with us.

It was here however, things began to strain. I still recall when the trial found Emiyo guilty, condemned to service when she was innocent. Yet she came back safe.

I met many more people here, more enemies, more friends, yet old faces still persisted through it all, yet we lost some on the way. Some of them, I'd very much like to see again. However... We bought our troubles with us as baggage, we irritated the locals too far and well...

They cast us out to freeze.

1750112310219.png

1750112317988.png
They sent us here to labor, as punishment for ruining the status quo. And here we toiled. They stripped us of everything but the clothes on our back, the bands on our arms and the cards we carried. Left to rot and freeze through it all.

Our friendships bent and groaned through the weight of it all. Arguments, disputes and fights began to break out more commonly. Some of us never to look at each other same again, sometimes more distant afterwards.

I hated it here, in the cold and squalor. But we persevered, we had to. We had to survive to get back to our home, no matter the cost, no matter the hurdle and no matter the challenge.

And our reward? Our exodus.

1750112586478.png

1750112592961.png

Some of us returned home. Some of us entered a place we'd never set foot in before. Me being one of the larger group who'd never been here before. And my impressions weren't fulfilled.

Bickering, arguments and fights followed us out of that terminal. Same problems, just different people. It was here I saw it at it's worse, in our so-called 'Jewel of Sector-10'. Arrogance, summed up into a title. So close to where I'd met all of these people yet, so far.

I saw the structure at it's worse, they nearly killed us for wanting change. They shot a friend in the street for being the opposition who won. They... Took, Emiyo away again and returned her a shadow of her former self with wounds still persisting to this day. I began to hate everything, my work, my relationships, our protectors. I hated it all, I just wanted it to be like it was when I first met anyone and I wanted anything to get away from it all. To have a breath of fresh air for once.

Something that I didn't get.

1750112913988.png

1750112924306.png

I'm here now. The hub of the Western Cities they called it. It looks no different than what I expect any other industrial capitol looks like. At the behest of it's ruler to which I blindly agreed. False promises, all of it. I'm here as a mere physician, employed on a project I struggle to speak of to others due to my horror of it.

I hate it here. I hate it here. I just, want to leave. I want to go back to home and hug those who I care for dearly. My ego blinded me and now I can't leave. An ocean divides me from my home and I know I cannot leave. The people here hate me just for being from elsewhere, scowls, whispered insults and other similar responses are given to me whenever I try to talk to someone. This... Isn't a city, if it was a city there'd be more breathing room. All crammed together in giant fenced off areas, it's choking me almost.

They're worried sick about me, I know they are. I'll... Try to send a letter or message of some form, if I can. Just so they know I'm still here still... Alive, despite it all. I have to, they'd do the same, wouldn't they?

CHARACTER RELATIONS:

Michael Yards - Regretful.

What have I done... I- I sold you out, you were on of the few friends who I trusted with my more personal topics and I sold you out to them. I hope you can forgive me, that is...If you're alive still.

You, you also came for me. Diving down into the sewers with Eleanor careless of what could happen to you. Even...After I sold you out. Thank you Michael and.. Sorry. This entire ordeal has been weighing heavily on us both, talk to Liam if you can... He'll be able to help you.

You're a lot like me. You take constant hit after hit but still keep getting up, it's respectable. I'm happy I found you out by that workstation after that incident...I think Emiyo would've had my head. Try not to get hurt anymore, our medical supplies are waning...
I just, I feel as if I've not actually realized how much you do. Constantly stepping in to assist and tend to the wounded. Just like Emiyo, I apologize, I shouldn't have shouted at you like that. I hope we can move past this and come out stronger.

Michael, we're going through a lot. All of us, you had your issues with the Ministry, Majors, Emiyo... But we're still here and we're out of this dive. We'll continue to be on the up and up, you just need to stay strong.

Cannon-Fodder. That's what they made you. They intended to have you thrown away as yet another number in the meat grinder. That was their intent. Albeit, you are cunning, in your own imaginative ways. In which I can place my confidence in you. I am just... Regretful that I wasn't able to help much to alleviate your current situation.

Ted Kowacks - UNKNOWN

We first met in the café opposite the clinic, took me a moment to realize you worked there actually. But since we met you've had this awkward charm that I've grown to like, hell you even entrusted me on some important jobs including operating on an injured units alongside giving me an impromptu tour of the research labs whilst we sampled some blood. Hopefully you're around a lot more.

You're back and as energetic as ever, a comedic light in this world of politics, backstabbing and greed. I thank you for being here and I hope you stay around for much longer. You got me up to where I am and I can't thank you enough.

Claire Lavoie - UNKNOWN

One of the few within the Medical Union who dedicates herself to her work. You're a good person, even though you're hardly around to enjoy some free time with.

We talked fairly recently after my wounds were tended to from the expedition gained from the hive and those cops who can't aim, you've given me advice alongside gave me insight into some of the people we're close with. Still, I am happy for you and Charlotte.

You do too much for me, you know that right? Not even five minutes after I lose my job, you offered me one right next door with no questions asked. And when I offered to chip in with the rent? You politely denied. A shame that the café was marked as inactive, hopefully Ellen can write a menu revamp in time to save it so we don't end up like The Reserve.

I haven't seen you in months, not during the evacuation of I-24, not during our short stay in City-8 and not here in the terminal. Where ever you ended up, I hope you're safe. Whilst our time interacting was brief, I did enjoy our talks.

What was I thinking? You practically got me into this position and when you come back looking for help? I treat like you some random bum off the street, I'm- Oh, Never mind. You know what I meant, right?

Well, I suppose you took me up on my offer, finally. Though you are a part of the MoP so, try not to get overwhelmed with your work, believe me we're all overwhelmed.

Eleanor "El" Marchand - Glad.

We're colleagues, that's all I can say but, I feel as if my presence hasn't been enough and when it has? It's been causing a burden upon the clinic. I- Never mind, just. You're here, and that's all I can say really.

We're now not so different, we're partners and we run this clinic now. Dean and Director, the two in charge of ensuring this District keeps healthy and in shape. As I said to Emiyo, I hope the worst of the storm has passed and we're about to get a break, for once.

Even after my untimely disappearance, you never gave up hope. When others had cast me to the side without a thought, you came for me. You- You shouldn't have really, but you put life and limb on the line for me. Deep down through the veil I wear, I'm thankful. And I'll be sure to inform you in my own way.

I have been many things to you. Confidant, significant other, colleague, I could go on. But I've also been cruel to you, in my own way. And I cannot forgive myself for some of the acts I've done over the years. But now? I feel nothing but regret. What happened to you, it should happen to no one. Taken against your will and treated like less than human, I'm regretful I wasn't here to help you and I doubt I'll ever be able to truly make it up to you.

Through it all, we have stood together. Side-by-side, albeit, not as how we were prior. Lovers? Once, friends? For the foreseeable. We've been through it all and saw this regime at it's worst, egotistical bureaucrats, maniacal scientists, nepotistic inspectors and downright cruel experiments run amok. Ultris, the psychospace mapping, the blacksite- I could go on. But through it all, we stood together, unwavering and unrelenting.

I regret that our relationship didn't spark, but I am glad we found each other when we did. Thank you, Eleanor. Thank you for being here through it all.

Aurelio Segreto - Glad.

A member of the CMRU, also involved in some sort of binder? Whatever that is, something probably political if I was to guess. Still, you seem a nice enough person from the sparse times we've spoken.

You saved me. You saved me from that lunatic Antonio when I woke up on the docks. If it wasn't for you...I'd surely be dead...

Thank you.

You.. Gave me insight into our mutual fiend. I'm, sorry for what happened to you. No other person deserves the pain and suffering she bought upon you. You did begin asking me a lot of questions though about my charges and my day to day activities but, you looked past them in favor of our ordeal on the island.

I hope you're safe. Given the recent events of the last few weeks, I just hope you're managing to stay safe in the Reserve. I hope we can see each other again soon.

Where are you? I didn't see you in the valley at all... Me and Elowyn could've used your assistance when helping that lady Gianna out, we did manage to crack the code but....The reason we found her in that state was because of Her. Another CPRD experiment gone wrong it seems, hopefully we meet back up wherever we get relocated to.

You...You took the time out of your day for me. You sat down and discussed life and it's great intricacies over several bottles of alcohol, told me about your past, gave me advice and...Where you see yourself. Thank you.

You've been transferred. Back to Sector-10 and to City-32, part of your job. I got your final message that you sent to me and I will keep your advice in mind. Thank you for looking out for me, I appreciate it more than anything people have given me. Stay safe.

You're back. I met you in City-13 briefly and you poured your heart out to me, about your work, about your position, about the people around you. And I could tell, you hated it all. All of it. You wore the façade of a man interested and committed to the cause, yet deep down you wanted catharsis from it all. And now? You're back here, in City-24. I'm just glad you're here and safe... Somewhat.

You have left, again. Not to follow whatever blind loyalists remain, but to simply eek your own existence out. Albeit, we never got to say farewell for the last time, to which I am saddened by deeply. But I know you, and I know you're not stupid. For my sake, and your own Aurelio, be safe. It's all I can ask.

Uwe Schulz - Rest In Peace.

Another one of the MoC who I assume works with Richter. Whilst we don't speak too often, you're always a nice enough person to talk with. We should hang out more, try and break the ice further than just conversations in the middle of the street.

You asked me to pull files of a specific conscript, one that seemingly has nothing on record... Just who the hell is Felix Poelking, and what did he do to earn a spot in the reserve?

You've made it out into the valley with us. Still, I am happy to talk with you on occasion, you are a friendly face. However... I am concerned for you, you've been hitting the alcohol quite hard recently. Still, I do believe your old friends are roaming around out here. So, maybe you'll get to see them again.

You, you're not holding up. I can tell, constantly with a bottle of bourbon affixed to your lips, constantly confused and forgetful. Then again, I did find the root cause. I just hope you're able to recover soon.

You've finally heard me out. You came to me before the relocation about seeking advice for alcoholism. I'll do my best to help you, you're my friend after all, you know that right?

I've heard and read about everything that happened, the cancer. The political turmoil and goodness knows what else. I thought you surely would meet your end here, with your condition. But apparently not, just don't start drinking again. Not again, you'll risk it all if you do.

What you did in that meeting, I almost wrote you off as just another one of the horde, out for blood and meaningless death. Please, don't make me assume this in the future.

You somehow were sent away, then re-ascended and promoted to General-Secretary and Tier-6. An admirable effort, perhaps we have weathered the worst of this hell, then again who knows?

The last time we spoke, was before I was put on that train to City-One and we never saw each other again for months. I told you how I'd have hated it if you ran off into the slums and away, oh the hypocrisy that flowed through me like venom. For I left you all behind when you needed me most.

But that wasn't our last time, through it all? You made the smart call and got out. We eventually found each other again, in the canals. But, you were not the same, not the timid small German man I had left behind, no. You'd became a figurehead, leading those who wished their own freedom to see the tomorrow they so yearned for, but in reality? You would become their martyr.

I cannot think of a day that goes past since your passing that I don't think of you, for you were one of my closest friends, and I hate myself for not spending the time we should've done and I'm sorry that I cannot talk to you again.

Rest in peace Uwe. For you were one of my greatest friends, and I hate myself for watching you die.
Maura Azure - UNKNOWN

Uhm, you're...Certainly an interesting one. We met when I was talking to Dornan and you called me...Love Erh- Way to catch me off guard... Then again, it was quickly clarified by the fact you're dating my doppelganger so...Good luck? If she's the handful Dornan said she was, you'll need it.

Uh- Well, you're a certainly interesting figure. I can say that, you were the former director of the CMU in City-24? Yet when I found you, you were slumming it. What a fall but- Nevermind, you're here now.

Juniper Stenhouse - Lovers.

Another loyalist within the party, you however. You're, different. You came up with that well, for lack of a better words, suicide battalion called the Watch. Starry eyed citizens hurling themselves at the infestation, including my friend. Thankfully it has since now passed and you can go back to doing...Whatever the hell you were doing.

One of the so called Watchmen that were on the island with us. Is that where you got the idea from for the District Watch? Nevertheless, even though I still have my reservations, I suppose I should thank you for carrying me onto the ship back to I-46.

I see you took over the reserve and turned it into a pub. Good luck to you, hopefully you have better business than Zbyszek and myself did.

I-I don't know what it is with you. Constantly screaming in my ear whilst I was tending to that officer, I did get the message the first time when Bloke screamed at me, you just didn't need to jump in. Ugh.

You always have to be the one in charge...I dunno if I should commend you or condemn you, forming the city watch back in Twenty Four, and now here you are again, forming yet another militia. This time, made up with loyalists... I just hope no one gets hurt too badly, we don't have the same equipment out here as we did in the city.

Juniper... Whilst we don't see eye to eye all the time, with you going as far as labelling me things such as a wendigo, drug dealer and various other....colorful names. I still do care for you, deep down. I've never gotten the official moment to thank you for what you did however. Just, hm. I hope you don't end up in the clinic again.

You weren't on the train ride over here, then again I'm not surprised. I didn't think you'd be cut for this.... Survivalism. You're probably still kicking back in City-8, knowing you.

We, were always a strange duo. You saved my life for seemingly nothing but of the sheer kindness in your own heart, masquerading as an unapologetic bureaucrat being just yet another face in the party, uncaring, cold and outright hateful to anyone you viewed as someone who didn't care for the regime.

If only I wasn't as stupid.

You arrived in I-24, after all this time, seemingly having changed and appearing overtly cheery and upbeat, albeit in your own twisted view of it. You seemingly began fixating your attention on me, all through the backroom deals you were organizing with Erama and the sort. I thought nothing of it, until that day in what remained of the clinic.

You loved me. You thought of me after all this time, in your own way you had developed feelings for me and confessed to me. Albeit, once again in your own way that is. And I did the same, we looked at each other in the eye and I realized why you did what you did for me.

And so we ran away, we carried what we could and fled. We fled into the canals and found refuge with old familiars, eventually taking up arms and leaving the husk of that dreaded city, but that wasn't all the secrets you had alas.

Know that, during these final months. I will do what I can to ensure you're comfortable, I'll be with you every step of the way and I will attempt to fix you, even if it kills me in the process. I will find a way to fix you and make you whole again, for you're all I've got now, Juniper.

Jindosh Mighty - Unsurprised.

One of the several management members of the Workers Union, laboring day in and day out ensuring the city has what it needs, alongside making sure the city doesn't fold in on itself like it nearly did with the infestation. A hard working member who loves his job, what else can I say.

You were also there on the island, you...Hit me over the head after that argument between Kanto and the rest of the watchmen. Suppose I cannot blame you. I er.. Wasn't myself to put it lightly. I hope we can move past this at least. However, you did save us by managing to get that radio working so.. I guess it'll balance itself out eventually.

You're one of them now. Just like Richter. I'm not surprised.

Emiyo "Em" Marcum - Regretful.

One of the many doctors within the medical union who happens to be quite a good friend of Eleanor. You're quite an interesting person to talk with, I do wish you would give it a rest over that Randy bloke though. Still, your ramblings are an entertainment to listen to. I do hope you enjoy the new hairstyle I gave you the other day after that incident with the pigeon.

I er, should thank you for talking with Eleanor. Despite your overall bluntness, I just hope Eleanor comes to her senses.

I'm, I'm glad you're around. Despite your overall bluntness and harsh exterior you're a good person. I am sorry about what happened to you today, it'll pass with time, but if you ever need someone to lean on my door is always open.

We've slowly began to drift closer together, talking more and more about personal subjects. Still, that conversation between me, you and Michael sadly got put on hold given the recent events. I hope we manage to link back up after this relocation. You're a good friend to me.

You're a resilient woman, you've been through a lot and the tales you've shared with me are plenty, I just hope we're able to fix your leg, out here in the outlands being crippled is a death sentence.... Maybe the Teller can help you, just a matter of getting you down there safely for treatment.

I, I suppose I should thank you. And I'm sorry for the way I've acted. Despite that, you looked past it all and began to teach me. Taught me about your past as well as your culture. I hope we get to talk a lot more as well as you letting me know about your past.

Conscripted, that's what I found out after all that time. Pressed into service to trumped up charges and allegations made against you, at least your service is over when we land in the next district, two months as underclass? I just hope you haven't pissed anyone else off, but I'll try my best to look after you, I've got some advice to give for a change anyway.

We're here now, that's all I can say. Trying to make ends meet and trying to not freeze, starve or dehydrate. You however have gone down the same path I have and began to look into cooking. I'll try to teach you what I can but... You really need to be careful in politics, it's dangerous.

Emiyo, what's going on? You've seemed more, distant and well agitated than usual. Don't just ignore us and pretend everything is fine- Talk to us, we're here. You know that right?

I don't know, what- What's been going on with me and you since we got into the Terminal, you feel as if you're not the same person. Be it either the weight of this world weighing on you, people or just your mental health beginning to crack... Even though I've been well, an ass I still keep my eyes open. Talk to me.

What am I doing? I swear I feel I'm running into a brick wall with you and you refuse to accept the obvious. They're playing Emiyo, yet you're too stubborn to accept it. You've fallen into a web and you're making yourself comfortable.

I was wrong. And I don't know how to apologize. I just hope you keep tabs on the clinic and protect us from any oncoming harm the administration has in line for us, we all need a break after Rajko got promoted.

We've come far, Emiyo. From lecturing me in a café about the old world, discussing fashion, dresses and culture, to drifting close and apart, be it through constant verbal disagreements, clashes in interests and politics. But it all didn't matter in the end, for now? We're aligned in purpose. To simply find out our own future and secure it no matter the cost.

I'm sorry, for how I've acted, disregarding and treating you as an inconvenience, but I am glad you're here now, with us all. And I'll do my best to earn your kindness back.

Hex Sanchez - Surprised To Say The Least.

You've been nothing but a paper trail and whispers for months. If not nearly a year now. I recall when we first encountered, in Industrial-24. You watched me clear up the dead with little care as if I was yet another face in the crowd of the dozens of people you've met over the years.

I've read about you however, City-8, Industrial-17, Seattle, Denver, wherever you went I knew what you did. And I thought you were just like the rest in the Research Division, twisted, corrupted and rotten to the core. But you blew my expectations away when we encountered properly after all this time spent looking for you.

When we had guns to our heads you vouched for us and you took us under your wing. And the work we're doing? I saw how you reacted when you saw that girl on the screen. Something changed in you. For now? We'll just have to keep at it and hope we get out all in one piece.

'Tzu' - Thankful.

Another vortigaunt who joined us in the CMRU. We first encountered in the valley, when you watched me, Ted and the rest deal with that officer who was overdosing. You take a great interest in medicine alongside healing people. Very honorable if I must say, not to mention your centuries of wisdom that you frequently impart.

One of the ones I can truly rely on. Always here to assist and guide those who need it in the clinic, alongside being a shoulder to lean on if the going get's too tough for someone. I'm glad you joined us all that time ago and I'm thankful for you staying with us all, throughout all of our ordeals.

One of my few vortigaunts who gladly joined us when we needed it. I was apprehensive on what you were going to do but, relieved when we met each other again in the outlands. You seemed almost happier to put it into words, happier to be back with your kind as well as the Grand Elder. I'm just relieved you're here, your skills, what with tending to the ill are going to be paramount.

'Cangaroo' - UNKNOWN

One of the several Vortigaunts working in the clinic alongside me. You're, different however. You have an uncanniness with your mannerisms and speech, mimicking a human almost. It's impressive, if I must say so. On the occasional times we've talked you've been a delight to talk with, hopefully we get to talk to each other more.

Ya know, even though you claim you don't really know me well, it doesn't feel that way. Every time we've talked you've always had a joke to crack or something funny to say and it cheers me up, at least with the new legislation you can now finally treat people, just eh..Try not to use your mouth so much, you do have three arms.

The Teller of Tales - Thankful.

One of the dozens of vorts who found themselves on our planet. You're not like the others, you're...Strangely inquisitive, the markings and scars on your body showing that you've more than likely been around longer than our civilization. I hope you don't get caught, you're rather good company.

Keim bought you to me after I... Blacked out.. You, peered into my mind and saw what happened. Did I really do those things? Or, as you said was it something else? God, I hope I didn't... Kill anyone whilst I was on that island.

I told you the story of my scars and in turn, you told me everything. You told me about your kind, the great struggle your tribe went through against the being known as The Nihilanth. Just one question remains however that you only answered vaguely alongside a smirk. Just who was the human who took down The Nihilanth?

I thank you once again Teller. Despite the change you have undergone, you're still someone I can talk to in regards to bad situations. I just hope your advice can break through to her, hopefully she hears you out and calls off this plan. I can't lose her.

I never saw you in the terminal, I did hear of you however but, didn't actually get the chance to talk. Knowing what you were like you're probably far from here now.

You've always been the different one, whereas some of your kind choose to become loyalists, the others who wish to take up arms and cause chaos, then there are the others who just wish to seek freedom in their own respective tribes. I don't know what it is, but it's as if you've made it your goal to ensure my safety, popping up in and out of the blue to always check in. It's odd, I'm thankful in my own ways but, I can't explain it.
